We present a study of their structure, morphology, electrical and magnetic properties on the (Ca1–xSrx) RuO3 system for x = 0.0, 0.07, 0.10, 0.15 and 1.0. The samples were prepared by the solidstate reaction method in air at ambient pressure and heat in the 700℃ - 800℃ range for 48 h. By X-ray powder diffraction (XRD), we determine a solid solution until x = 0.15. Scanning electron microscopy (SEM) indicates that the particle size is 77 - 266 nm. The resistance measurements, as a function of temperature measurements from 7 to 300 K the (Ca1–xSrx) RuO3 system for x = 0.0, 0.07, 0.10, 0.15 and 1.0 show a metallic behaviour. We can even observe that the resistance of the samples is due to the partial substitution of Sr2+ ions and Ru ion valence. Finally, the sample x = 0.07 has a magnetization applied high field to 10 K, whereas that to 300 K does not have a magnetization.

Spinal cord injury is a condition in which the parenchyma of the spinal cord is damaged by trauma or various diseases.While rapid progress has been made in regenerative medicine for spinal cord injury that was previously untreatable,most research in this field has focused on the early phase of incomplete injury.However,the majority of patients have chronic severe injuries;therefore,treatments for these situations are of fundamental importance.The reason why the treatment of complete spinal cord injury has not been studied is that,unlike in the early stage of incomplete spinal cord injury,there are various inhibitors of neural regeneration.Thus,we assumed that it is difficult to address all conditions with a single treatment in chronic complete spinal cord injury and that a combination of several treatments is essential to target severe pathologies.First,we established a combination therapy of cell transplantation and drug-releasing scaffolds,which contributes to functional recovery after chronic complete transection spinal cord injury,but we found that functional recovery was limited and still needs further investigation.Here,for the further development of the treatment of chronic complete spinal cord injury,we review the necessary approaches to the different pathologies based on our findings and the many studies that have been accumulated to date and discuss,with reference to the literature,which combination of treatments is most effective in achieving functional recovery.

Several features of drug-induced mucosal alterations have been observed in the upper gastrointestinal tract,i.e.,the esophagus,stomach,and duodenum.These include pill-induced esophagitis,desquamative esophagitis,worsening of gastroesophageal reflux,chemotherapy-induced esophagitis,proton pump inhibitor-induced gastric mucosal changes,medication-induced gastric erosions and ulcers,pseudomelanosis of the stomach,olmesartan-related gastric mucosal inflammation,lanthanum deposition in the stomach,zinc acetate hydrate tabletinduced gastric ulcer,immune-related adverse event gastritis,olmesartan-associated sprue-like enteropathy,pseudomelanosis of the duodenum,and lanthanum deposition in the duodenum.For endoscopists,acquiring accurate knowledge regarding these diverse drug-induced mucosal alterations is crucial not only for the correct diagnosis of these lesions but also for differential diag-nosis of other conditions.This minireview aims to provide essential information on druginduced mucosal alterations observed on esophagogastroduodenoscopy,along with representative endoscopic images.

Cisplatin-induced activation of TGF-βsignaling contributes to drug resistance

Growing evidence suggests an association between epithelial-mesenchymal transition(EMT),a hallmark of tumor malignancy,and chemoresistance to a number of anti-cancer drugs.However,the mechanism of EMT induction in the process of acquiring anti-cancer drug resistance remains unclear.To address this issue,we obtained a number of cisplatin-resistant clones from LoVo cells and found that almost all of them lost cell-cell contacts.In these clones,the epithelial marker E-cadherin was downregulated,whereas the mesenchymal marker N-cadherin was upregulated.Moreover,the expression of EMT-related transcription factors,including Slug,was elevated.On the other hand,the upregulation of other mesenchymal marker Vimentin was weak,suggesting that the mesenchymal-like phenotypic changes occurred in these cisplatin-resistant clones.These mesenchymal-like features of cisplatin-resistant clones were partially reversed to parental epithelial-like features by treatment with transforming growth factor-β(TGF-β)receptor kinase inhibitors,indicating that TGF-βsignaling is involved in cisplatin-induced the mesenchymallike phenotypic changes.Moreover,cisplatin was observed to enhance the secretion of TGF-βinto the culture media without influencing TGF-βgene transcription.These results suggest that cisplatin may induce the mesenchymal-like phenotypic changes by enhancing TGF-βsecretion,ultimately resulting in drug resistance.

Background:To prevent stent migration during endoscopic ultrasound-guided hepaticogastrostomy(EUS-HGS),intra-scope channel release technique is important,but is unfamiliar to non-expert hands.The self-expandable metal stent(SEMS)is an additional factor to prevent stent migration.However,no compara-tive studies of laser-cut-type and braided-type during EUS-HGS have been reported.The aim of this study was to compare the distance between the intrahepatic bile duct and stomach wall after EUS-HGS among laser-cut-type and braided-type SEMS.Methods:To evaluate stent anchoring function,we measured the distance between the hepatic parenchyma and stomach wall before EUS-HGS,one day after EUS-HGS,and 7 days after EUS-HGS.Also,propensity score matching was performed to create a propensity score for using laser-cut-type group and braided-type group.Results:A total of 142 patients were enrolled in this study.Among them,24 patients underwent EUS-HGS using a laser-cut-type SEMS,and 118 patients underwent EUS-HGS using a braided-type SEMS.EUS-HGS using the laser-cut-type SEMS was mainly performed by non-expert endoscopists(n=21);EUS-HGS using braided-type SEMS was mainly performed by expert endoscopists(n=98).The distance after 1 day was significantly shorter in the laser-cut-type group than that in the braided-type group[2.00(1.70-3.75)vs.6.90(3.72-11.70)mm,P<0.001].In addition,this distance remained significantly shorter in the laser-cut-type group after 7 days.Although these results were similar after propensity score matching analysis,the distance between hepatic parenchyma and stomach after 7 days was increased by 4 mm compared with the distance after 1 day in the braided-type group.On the other hand,in the laser-cut-type group,the distance after 1 day and 7 days was almost the same.Conclusions:EUS-HGS using a laser-cut-type SEMS may be safe to prevent stent migration,even in non-expert hands.

BACKGROUND Helicobacter pylori(H.pylori)infection is closely related to the development of gastric cancer(GC).However,GC can develop even after H.pylori eradication.Therefore,it would be extremely useful if GC could be predicted after eradication.The Kyoto classification score for gastritis(GA)is closely related to cancer risk.However,how the score for GC changes after eradication before onset is not well understood.AIM To investigate the characteristics of the progression of Kyoto classification scores for GC after H.pylori eradication.METHODS Eradication of H.pylori was confirmed in all patients using either the urea breath test or the stool antigen test.The Kyoto classification score of GC patients was evaluated by endoscopy at the time of event onset and three years earlier.In ad-dition,the modified atrophy score was evaluated and compared between the GC group and the control GA group.RESULTS In total,30 cases of early GC and 30 cases of chronic GA were evaluated.The pathology of the cancer cases was differentiated adenocarcinoma,except for one case of undifferentiated adenocarcinoma.The total score of the Kyoto classifi-cation was significantly higher in the GC group both at the time of cancer onset and three years earlier(4.97 vs 3.73,P=0.0034;4.2 vs 3.1,P=0.0035,respectively).The modified atrophy score was significantly higher in the GC group both at the time of cancer onset and three years earlier and was significantly improved only in the GA group(5.3 vs 5.3,P=0.5;3.73 vs 3.1,P=0.0475,respectively).CONCLUSION The course of the modified atrophy score is useful for predicting the onset of GC after eradication.Patients with severe atrophy after H.pylori eradication require careful monitoring.

Fundamental Study on Alkali-Activated Slag System with Sodium Carbonate or Calcium Hydroxide

Cement as a building material, has high fluidity, compressive strength, and durability, but carbon dioxide emissions during cement production are a major problem. As one of the countermeasures, alkali-activated cement using blast furnace slag powder with alkaline stimulants is considered to be a very promising solution for reducing carbon dioxide emissions, but there is a lack of information about the fundamental properties of alkali-activated materials. This study presents an experimental investigation of the fundamental properties of an alkali-activated slag system with sodium carbonate (NC) and calcium hydroxide (CH). The effects of calcium sulfo-aluminate (CSA) and shrinkage reducing agent (SRA) on the properties of blast furnace slag (BFS) based alkali-activated mixture were also investigated. In the experiments, fundamental characteristics including compressive strength, drying shrinkage, and water penetration tests of mortar were evaluated. Porosity, pH, and ignition loss were measured to verify the effectiveness of the materials. The experimental investigation revealed that the compressive strength was increased with the increasing replacement rates of NC in the BFS mortar, and in the case of water to BFS ratio of 0.45 with sodium carbonation addition contents 10 wt.%, the compressive strength for 28 days of curing reaches more than 50 MPa. Low water to BFS ratio and higher addition ratio of NC had a positive effect on the compressive strength development of mortar. Incorporating NC into BFS would affect the decrease in porosity and increase in ignition loss, leading to higher compressive strength. There was a negligible change to the compressive strength, porosity, pH, and ignition loss of BFS samples made with CH, thus, the addition rates of CH to BFS have no or little significant effect on the fundamental properties of alkali-activated cement. The nuclear pore complex(NPC)is an evolutionally conserved channel that controls the exchange of macromolecules between the nucleus and cytoplasm.The pores of the NPC form a permeability barrier that allows free permeability of small molecules(<40 kDa or~5 nm in diameter)(Schmidt and Gorlich,2016).However,larger molecules must interact with nuclear transport receptors(NTRs)to overcome the NPC permeability barrier.

The presentation,subtype,and macroscopic images of lymphoma vary depending on the site of the tumor within the gastrointestinal tract.We searched PubMed for publications between January 1,2012 and October 10,2022,and retrieved 130 articles relating to duodenal lymphoma.A further 22 articles were added based on the manual screening of relevant articles,yielding 152 articles for full-text review.The most predominant primary duodenal lymphoma was follicular lymphoma.In this review,we provide an update of the diagnosis and management of representative lymphoma subtypes occurring in the duodenum:Follicular lymphoma,diffuse large B-cell lymphoma,extranodal marginal zone lymphoma of mucosa-associated lymphoid tissue,mantle cell lymphoma,and Tcell lymphomas.
