In the present study,graphite/alumina composites are fabricated via reductive sintering of gel-casted green bodies with structurally controlled cross-linked epoxy polymers for the first *** cross-linking degrees of polymers are tuned by the amount ratio of epoxy monomer/polyvinyl alcohol cross-linker utilized in gel-casting *** electrical properties with respect to 5-fold enhanced electrical conductivity and 2-fold higher carrier mobility are successfully achieved in graphite/alumina composite fabricated from cross-linked epoxy polymer,whose phenomenon is attributed to the excellent conductive path in ceramic matrix established by highly uniform network with improved graphitization degree.

Background： Bovine milk contains not only a variety of nutritional ingredients but also microRNAs （miRNAs） that are thought to be secreted by the bovine mammary epithelial cells （BMECs）. The objective of this study was to elucidate the production of milk-related miRNAs in BMECs under the influence of lactogenic hormones. Results： According to a microarray result of milk exosomal miRNAs prior to cellular analyses, a total of 257 miRNAs were detected in a Holstein cow milk. Of these, 18 major miRNAs of interest in the milk were selected for an expression analysis in BMEC culture that was treated with or without dexamethasone, insulin, and prolactin （DIP） to induce a lactogenic differentiation. Quantitative polymerase chain reaction （qPCR） results showed that the expressions of miR-21-Sp （P = 0.005）, miR-26a （P = 0.016）, and miR-320a （P = 0.011） were lower in the DIP-treated cells than in the untreated cells. In contrast, the expression of miR-339a （P-- 0.017） in the cell culture medium were lower in the DiP-treated culture than in the untreated culture. Intriguingly, the miR-148a expression in cell culture medium was elevated by DIP treatment of BMEC culture （P = 0.018）. The medium-to-cell expression ratios of miR- 103 （P = 0.025）, miR-148a （P 〈 0.001）, and miR-223 （P = 0.013） were elevated in the DIP-treated BMECs, suggesting that the lactogenic differentiation-induced secretion of these three miRNAs in BMECs. A bioinformatic analysis showed that the miRNAs down-regulated in the BMECs were associated with the suppression of genes related to transcriptional regulation, protein phosphorylation, and tube development. Conclusion： The results suggest that the miRNAs changed by lactogenic hormones are associated with milk protein synthesis, and mammary gland development and maturation. The elevated miR-148a level in DIP-treated BMECs may be associated with its increase in milk during the lactation period of cows.

of complete genome sequences submitted directly from sequencing projects are diverse in terms of annotation strategies and update frequencies. These inconsistencies make comparative studies difficult. To allow rapid data preparation of a large number of complete genomes, automation and speed are important for genome re-annotation. Here we introduce an open-source rapid genome re-annotation software system, Restauro-G, specialized for bacterial genomes. Restauro-G re-annotates a genome by similarity searches utilizing the BLASTLike Alignment Tool, referring to protein databases such as UniProt KB, NCBI nr, NCBI COGs, Pfam, and PSORTb. Re-annotation by Restauro-G achieved over 98% accuracy for most bacterial chromosomes in comparison with the original manually curated annotation of EMBL releases. Restauro-G was developed in the generic bioinformatics workbench G-language Genome Analysis Environment and is distributed at http：//***/ under the GNU General Public License.

The occurre nce of biologically active pharmaceuticals in aquatic enviro nments raised the potential risks to aquatic *** these marketed biological active pharmaceuticals,it has been estimated that40%of them target G-protein-coupled receptors(GPCRs).We have illustrated pharmaceutical activities of GPCR targeted pharmaceuticals in English and Japanese wastewater by the in vitro transforming growth factor-α(TGFα)shedding ***,as the most important producer and consumer of pharmaceuticals,the occurrence of GPCR targeted pharmaceuticals in China had remained *** this study,we investigated the pharmaceutical activities of GPCR targeted pharmaceuticals in secondary effluents of Chinese wastewater treatment *** discovered antagonistic activities against angiotensin(AT1)receptor at up to 7.2×102 ng-valsartan-equivalent quantity/L in Chinese wastewater for the first time as well as agonistic activities against dopamine(D2)***,in parallel with the assay,we determined concentrations of GPCR targeted pharmaceuticals in target wastewater by liquid chromatography coupled with tandem mass spectrometry(LC-MS/MS).Through the comparison of predicted antagonistic activities calculated by concentrations and potency values from the assay,we found that the measured antagonistic activities against AT1 receptor from the assay were higher than the predicted AT1 activities from valsartan,irbesartan,and losartan,indicating the potential existence of other unknown AT1 antagonists in wastewater.

AIM:To investigate the usefulness of magnetic resonance cholangiopancreatography (MRCP) and the need for endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP) in cases of suspected spontaneous passage of stones into the common bile ***:Thirty-six patients with gallbladder stones were clinically suspected of spontaneous passage of stones into the common bile duct because they presented with clinical symptoms such as abdominal pain and fever,and showed signs of inflammatory reaction and marked rise of hepatobiliary *** symptoms resolved and they showed normalized values of blood biochemical parameters after conservative treatment without evidence of stones in the common bile duct on *** these patients were subjected to ERCP within 3 d of MRCP to check for the presence of ***:No stones were detected by ERCP in any patient,confi rming the results of ***:When clinical symptoms improve,blood biochemical parameters have normalized,and MRCP shows there are no stones in the common bile duct,it can be considered the stone has spontaneously passed and thus ERCP is not necessary.

New method for long-term monitoring of intragastric pH

AIM: Consecutive monitoring of intragastric pH using the Bravo? capsule. METHODS: We put threads through a Bravo? capsule and then affixed it to the gastric wall by endoscopic hemoclipping in seven subjects. Study data were uploaded to a computer via Datalink every 48 h. In this way,repeated monitoring of intragastric pH was undertaken. RESULTS: All subjects were able to monitor gastric pH over a 1-wk period,and five for > 2 wk. No complications were encountered during the monitoring. After pH monitoring,we safely retrieved the capsule endoscopically. CONCLUSION: Clipping a Bravo? capsule onto the gastric wall enabled long-term intragastric pH monitoring. This is a methodological report of pH monitoring over a period of > 2 wk.

AIM： To study the regulatory mechanisms of sinusoida regeneration after partial hepatectomy. METHODS： We invesldgated the expression of angiopoietin （Ang）-1, Ang-2, Tie-2, and vascular endothelial growth factor （VEGF） in regenerating liver tissue by quantitative reverse-transcription polymerase chain reaction （RT- PCR） using a LightCycler （Roche Diagnostics） and also immunohistochemical staining after 70% hepatectomy in rats. In the next step, we isolated liver cells （hepatocytes, sinusoidal endothelial cell （SEC）, Kupffer cell, and hepatic stellate cells （HSC）） from regenerating liver tissue by in situ collagenase perfusion and counterflow elutriation, to determine potential cellular sources of these angiogenic factors after hepatectomy. Proliferation and apoptosis of SECs were also evaluated by proliferating cell nuclear antigen （PCNA） staining and the terminal deoxynucleotidyl transferase d-uridine triphosphate nick end labeling （TUNEL） assay, respectively. RESULTS： VEGF mRNA expression increased with a peak at 72 h after hepatectomy, decreasing thereafter. The expression of Ang-1 mRNA was present at detectable levels before hepatectomy and increased slowly with a peak at 96 h. Meanwhile, Ang-2 mRNA was hardly detected before hepatectomy, but was remarkably induced at 120 and 144 h. In isolated cells, VEGF mRNA expression was found mainly in the hepatocyte fraction. Meanwhile, mRNA for Ang-1 and Ang-2 was found in the SEC and HSC fractions, but was more prominent in the latter. The PCNA labeling index of SECs increased slowly, reaching a peak at 72 h, whereas apoptotic SECs were detected between 120 h and 144 h. CONCLUSION： Ang-Tie system, together with VEGF, plays a critical role in regulating balance between SEC proliferation and apoptosis during sinusoidal regeneration after hepatectomy. However, the VEGF system plays a more important role in the early phase of sinusoidal regeneration than angiopoietin/Tie system.
