The new turning method was proposed and verified its effectiveness to pathogens by laboratory scale *** the results obtained from the previous studies,it could be said that turning of a composting pile was essential in terms of hygienic aspects but the number of turning should be *** of inactivation was estimated for each composting *** this estimation,turning by layers,which is different from conventional turning that mixes compost pile entirely,was proposed and investigated its performance by *** operations with static pile method,complete mix(conventional)turning method,and proposed turning(layer turning)method were done and their effectiveness on inactivation of indicator microorganism was evaluated and *** results,the conventional turning method was not a proper method in terms of pathogen inactivation,whereas,the proposed turning method showed an excellent performance and should be employed in a composting operation.

It is a challenge to thoroughly understand the astonishing difference in catalytic activity between nanogold and bulk gold for some oxidation reactions. In this work,the Au–O interactions in various surroundings were investigated by DFT calculations and compared with the Ag–O interactions. We have found the three ***,only Au–O bond can be significantly strengthened by the linear O–Au–O structure. Second,the Au–O bond is always stronger than the Ag–O bond when the bonds are embedded in common surroundings. Third,the Au–O bond becomes weaker than the Ag–O bond when the number of neighboring Au atoms becomes large,because the Au–O interactions are suppressed by the presence of neighboring gold atoms. The origin of these three points can be attributed to wider spatial extension of d orbitals of gold,induced by strong relativistic effects. The strong relativistic effects make nanogold with smaller coordinate numbers highly active due to the ease in forming strong Au–O bonds,especially for the O–Au–O bond,whereas gold atoms in bulk with larger coordination numbers chemically inert due to the strong suppression by neighboring gold atoms destabilizing the O–Au–O bond.

In the present study, effect of the heterogeneous condensation on the characteristics of shock wave generated on the bump model in the transonic flow field was investigated numerically. As a result, it was found that, for the flow field with steady adiabatic shock wave on the bump model, the condensation with heterogeneous nucleation has a strong effect on the whole flow field, and it reduced the strength of the shock. Furthermore, the total pressure loss was dependent on the concentration of the solid particles per unit volume.

Certain perovskite-type oxynitrides have bandgaps suitable for renewable hydrogen production via photocatalytic and photoelectrochemical water splitting under visible *** the ordering of oxide and nitride anions in these materials is important because this ordering affects their semiconductor ***, the numerous possible orderings complicate systematic analyses based on density functional theory(DFT) calculations using defined elemental *** work shows that anion ordering in large-scale supercells within perovskite-type oxynitrides can be rapidly predicted based on machine learning, using BaNbO2N(capable of oxidizing water under irradiation up to 740 nm) as an *** learning allows the calculation of the total energy of BaNbO2N directly from randomly selected initial atomic placements without costly structural optimization, thus reducing the computational cost by more than 99.99%.Combined with the Metropolis Monte Carlo method, machine learning permits exploration of the stable anion orderings of large supercells without costly DFT *** work therefore demonstrates a means of predicting the properties of functional materials having complex compositions based on the most realistic elemental arrangements in conjunction with reasonable computational loads.

The purpose of this paper is to study the dynamic behavior of softground including a porous layer by considering porosity change. Inorder to take the porosity change into account, the concept of thevolume fraction, which has been proposed in continuum mechanics, isintroduced. The constitutive equations presented by Bowen are appliedto the analysis of the porous media. Two kinds of fractures can be observed in the SPH （smoothed particle hydrodynamics） simulations, which are the physical fracture and the numerical fracture. The physical one exists in reality, while the numerical one is fictitious. This paper presents the effects of both fractures and proposes a simple adding particle technique to avoid the numerical fracture. The real physical fracture is then figured out by using an applicable fracture criterion. Firstly, the effect of the numerical fracture on the computational accuracy is investigated by introducing the artificial fracture in a model of wave propagation. Secondly, a simple adding particle technique is proposed and validated by a three dimensional bending test. Finally, the experiments of penetration on the skin of aircrafts are simulated by both the initial SPH method and the improved method with the adding particle technique. The results show that the improved SPH method can describe the physical fracture very well with better accuracy.

Correlation between catalytic activity of supported gold catalysts for carbon monoxide oxidation and metal–oxygen binding energy of the support metal oxides

The effect of a wide variety of metal oxide （MOx） supports has been discussed for CO oxidation on nanoparticulate gold catalysts. By using typical co‐precipitation and deposition–precipitation methods and under identical calcination conditions, supported gold catalysts were prepared on a wide variety of MOx supports, and the temperature for 50%conversion was measured to qualita‐tively evaluate the catalytic activities of these simple MOx and supported Au catalysts. Furthermore, the difference in these temperatures for the simple MOx compared to the supported Au catalysts is plotted against the metal–oxygen binding energies of the support MOx. A clear volcano‐like correla‐tion between the temperature difference and the metal–oxygen binding energies is observed. This correlation suggests that the use of MOx with appropriate metal–oxygen binding energies （300–500 kJ/atom O） greatly improves the catalytic activity of MOx by the deposition of Au NPs.

In this paper, the effects of the passive technique by using the slotted wall on the characteristics of a condensation shock wave generated in a Prandtl-Meyer flow were investigated experimentally. Furthermore, in order to clarify the variation of condensation properties in the flow field, Navier-Stokes equations were solved numerically using a 3rd-order MUSCL type TVD finite-difference scheme with a second-order fractional-step for time integration. Baldwin-Lomax model was used as a turbulence model in the computations. From experimental results, it was found that the shock strength on the slotted wall became weak in comparison with no passive case (solid wall), and the present passive technique was the most effective when a foot of the condensation shock wave was located at the middle of slotted wall. Furthermore, it was confirmed numerically that the passive technique was also effective for the unsteady condensation shock wave.

Chronic infection with Helicobacter pylori cagA-positive strains is the strongest risk factor for gastric *** cagA gene product,CagA,is delivered into gastric epithelial cells via the bacterial type IV secretion *** CagA then undergoes tyrosine phosphorylation at the Glu-Pro-Ile-Tyr-Ala(EPIYA)motifs in its C-terminal region and acts as an oncogenic scaffold protein that physically interacts with multiple host signaling proteins in both tyrosine phosphorylation-dependent and-independent *** of CagA using in vitro cultured gastric epithelial cells has indicated that the nonphysiological scaffolding actions of CagA cell-autonomously promote the malignant transformation of the cells by endowing the cells with multiple phenotypic cancer hallmarks:sustained proliferation,evasion of growth suppressors,invasiveness,resistance to cell death,and genomic *** expression of CagA in mice leads to in vivo oncogenic action of CagA without any overt *** in vivo oncogenic activity of CagA is further potentiated in the presence of chronic *** Helicobacter pylori infection triggers a proinflammatory response in host cells,a feedforward stimulation loop that augments the oncogenic actions of CagA and inflammation is created in CagA-injected gastric *** that Helicobacter pylori is no longer colonized in established gastric cancer lesions,the multistep nature of gastric cancer development should include a“hit-and-run”process of CagA ***,acquisition of genetic and epigenetic alterations that compensate for CagA-directed cancer hallmarks may be required for completion of the“hit-and-run”process of gastric carcinogenesis.
