Results of mass endoscopic examination for gastric cancer in Kamigoto Hospital,Nagasaki Prefecture

AIM:To examine how the introduction of endoscopy to gastric cancer screening affected survival prognosis in a regional population. METHODS: The subjects comprised 4261 residents of Kamigoto,Nagasaki Prefecture,who underwent gastric X-ray examination for gastric cancer screening from 1991 to 1995,and all 7178 residents who underwent endoscopic examination for the same purpose from 1996 to 2003. The analysis evaluated trends in age-adjusted gastric cancer mortality rates and standard mortality ratios (SMRs) among the Kamigoto residents. RESULTS: According to demographic statistics,the 1995 and 2000 age-adjusted gastric cancer mortality rates in Nagasaki Prefecture (per 100 000 population) were 42.6 and 37.3 for males and 18.6 and 16.0 for females,while the corresponding rates in Kamigoto before and after the introduction of endoscopic screening were respectively 51.9 and 28.0,and 26.6 and 6.9. The data obtained in this study were divided into those for two periods,1990-1996 and 1997-2006,and SMRs were calculated separately for males and females. For the first period,the SMR was 1.04 (95% CI 0.50-1.58) for males and 1.54 (95% CI 0.71-2.38) for females,while for the second period the SMR was 0.71 (95% CI 0.33-1.10) for males and 0.62 (95% CI 0.19-1.05) for females. CONCLUSION: Following the introduction of endoscopic examination,gastric cancer death rates decreased in Kamigoto.

An ultrasonic wave was applied during brazing of alumina to Cu. First alumina was metallized by applying ultrasonicwave in braze bath. Then the metallized alumina was brazed with Cu using the same filler alloy. The filler used wereZn-Al alloys and Zn-Sn Alloys. The weight percent of Al in filler was ranging between 0, 5%, 10%, *** weight percent of tin in filler was ranging between 0, 30%, 60% and 91%, respectively. The joining mechanismwas investigated by measuring the joining strength, hardness and analyzing the microstructure at interface of thejoint. The shear strength and microstructure of the joint strongly depend on the filler composition. The effect ofultrasound was derived primarily from acoustic cavitations, impact and friction of the filler against alumina *** improved the wetting between alumina and the filler, and reflected to improve the joint strength. Anotherultrasonic advantage as to reduce of the joining temperature, that reduced the thermal stress in the braze joint.

Today,much information from traffic infrastructures and sensors of ego vehicle is *** such information has a potential for internal combustion engine vehicle to reduce fuel consumption in real *** this paper,a powertrain controller for a hybrid electric vehicle aiming to reduce fuel consumption is introduced,which uses information from traffic signals,the global positioning system and sensors,and the preceding *** study was carried out as a benchmark problem of engine and powertrain control simulation and modeling 2021(E-COSM 2021).The developed controller firstly decides reference acceleration of the ego vehicle using the traffic signal and the position information and the preceding vehicle *** acceleration and deceleration leading to increase in unnecessary fuel consumption is ***,the reference engine,generator,and motor torques are decided to achieve the reference acceleration and minimize fuel *** addition,the reference engine,generator and motor torques were decided by the given fuel consumption map for the engine,and by the virtual fuel consumption maps for the generator and the *** virtual fuel consumption is derived from the efficiency maps of the generator and the motor using a given equivalent factor,which converts electricity consumption to fuel for the generator and the *** this study,a controller was designed through the benchmark problem of E-COSM 2021 for minimizing total fuel consumption of the engine,the generator,and the *** developed controller was evaluated in driving *** result shows that operating the powertrain in efficient area is a key factor in reducing total fuel consumption.

The change in appearance during the seasonal transitions in ornamental greening plants is an important *** particular,the early onset of green leaf color is a desirable trait for a *** this study,we established a method for phenotyping leaf color change by multispectral imaging and performed genetic analysis based on the phenotypes to clarify the potential of the approach in breeding greening *** performed multispectral phenotyping and quantitative trait locus(QTL)analysis of an F1 population derived from 2 parental lines of Phedimus takesimensis,known to be a drought and heat-tolerant rooftop plant *** imaging was conducted in April of 2019 and 2020 when dormancy breakage occurs and growth extension *** component analysis of 9 different wavelength values showed a high contribution from the first principal component(PC1),which captured variation in the visible light *** high interannual correlation in PC1 and in the intensity of visible light indicated that the multispectral phenotyping captured genetic variation in the color of *** also performed restriction site-associated DNA sequencing and obtained the first genetic linkage map of Phedimus *** analysis revealed 2 QTLs related to early dormancy *** on the genotypes of the markers underlying these 2 QTLs,the F1 phenotypes with early(late)dormancy break,green(red or brown)leaves,and a high(low)degree of vegetative growth were *** results suggest the potential of multispectral phenotyping in the genetic dissection of seasonal leaf color changes in greening plants.

In a proxy signature scheme, an original signer is allowed to delegate his signing power to a designated person, called the proxy signer and the proxy signer is able to sign the messages on behalf of the original signer. Recently, Lu, Dong and Cao proposed two proxy signature schemes for mobile communication (see Sci China Ser F-Inf Sci, 2008, 51(2): 183–195). Although they proved that their schemes are secure in the random oracle model, we disprove their claim and show that their schemes are not secure.

In recent years,accurate Gaussian noise removal has attracted considerable attention for mobile applications,as in smart *** conventional denoising methods have the potential ability to improve denoising performance with no additional ***,we propose a rapid post-processing method for Gaussian noise removal in this *** matching and 3D filtering and weighted nuclear norm minimization are utilized to suppress *** these nonlocal image denoising methods have quantitatively high performance,some fine image details are lacking due to the loss of high frequency *** tackle this problem,an improvement to the pioneering RAISR approach(rapid and accurate image super-resolution),is applied to rapidly post-process the denoised *** gives performance comparable to state-of-the-art super-resolution techniques at low computational cost,preserving important image structures *** modification is to reduce the hash classes for the patches extracted from the denoised image and the pixels from the ground truth to 18 filters by two improvements:geometric conversion and reduction of the strength *** addition,following RAISR,the census transform is exploited by blending the image processed by noise removal methods with the filtered one to achieve artifact-free *** results demonstrate that higher quality and more pleasant visual results can be achieved than by other methods,efficiently and with low memory requirements.

The rotational frequency tone noise emitted from the automobile turbocharger is called the pulsation noise. The cause of the pulsation noise is not fully understood, but is considered to be due to some manufacturing errors, which is called the mistuning. The effects of the mistuning of the impeller blade on the noise field inside the flow passage of the compressor are numerically investigated. Here, the flow passage includes the volute and duct located downstream of the compressor impeller. Our numerical approach is found to successfully capture the wavelength of the pulsation noise at given rotational speeds by the comparison with the experiments. One of the significant findings is that the noise field of the pulsation noise in the duct is highly one-dimensional although the flow fields are highly three-dimensional.

There appears to be the strong association between Helicobacter pylori （H pylori） and gastric cancer. We reviewed the latest evidences about the effects of H pylori infection on gastric carcinogenesis, classified into epidemiology, dynamics of gastric mucosal changes, DNA damages, virulence factors, host factors, and source of gastric malignancy. Through the considerable progress made in research into virulence factors resulting from differences between Hpylori strains, such as cagA positivity, as well as into host factors, such as gene polymorphisms, a diverse spectrum of H pyloriassociated diseases, including gastric cancer, is beginning to lend itself to elucidation. The impact of the novel hypothesis advanced by Houghton et al proposing bonemarrow derived stem cells （BMDC） as a potential source of gastric malignancy on evolving research remains to be seen with interest. Further progress in research into H pylori eradication as a viable prophylaxis of gastric cancer, as well as into the mechanisms of gastric carcinogenesis, is to be eagerly awaited for the current year and beyond.

In this study,an experiment was performed to clarify the flow field,in which the jets were normally injected into a main supersonic flow surrounded by a porous cavity,and this report figures out interaction between starting shock wave and porous *** the experiment,a porous cavity is attached to a main duct and jets and rods are inserted to the main duct on the porous *** reveal this flow field,the thermal tuft probe was adopted to experimentally investigate the flow in the *** the experiments,the effect of the porous cavity with jets or rods on the flow field is studied by means of visualization of schlieren method with a high speed camera and measurement of cavity flow with thermal tuft *** a results,frequency analysis of output of the thermal tuft probe revealed that some clear dominant frequencies were confirmed when the starting shock wave existed around the porous cavity in all cases of jets and rods ***,visualization of schlieren method with a high speed camera clarified that a starting shock wave had the same dominant frequencies as that of the flow fluctuation in the cavity only around the cavity.
