Catalyst-free growth of ZnO nanowires on various-oriented sapphire substrates by pulsed-laser deposition

Catalyst-free growth of one-dimensional zinc oxide （ZnO） nanowires is reported. ZnO nanowires were synthesized on ZnO buffer layers deposited on various-oriented sapphire substrates. Syntheses of ZnO buffer layers and nanowires were performed by ultraviolet pulsed-laser deposition. ZnO nanowire＇s number density was the lowest in the case of using m-cut sapphire substrates. ZnO nanowires grown on a-cut sapphire substrates had vertical alignment with distances of tens to hundreds of nanometers. On the other hand, ZnO nanowires grown on c-cut sapphire substrates had the biggest nucleation rate. The dependence of crystalline orientation of ZnO buffer layers on the orientation of sapphire substrates were investigated by electron back scatter diffraction measurement. From their results, the growth models of ZnO buffer layers were suggested and the variations in morphological properties ofZnO nanowires were discussed.

Paravalvular Leakage(PVL)has been recognized as one of the most dangerous complications in relation to Transcathether Aortic Valve Implantation(TAVI)***,data available in the literature about Fluid Structure Interaction(FSI)for this specific problem are relatively *** the present study,the fluid and structure responses of the hemodynamics along the patient aorta model and the aortic wall deformation are studied with the aid of numerical simulation taking into account PVL and 100%TAVI valve *** particular,the aorta without valve(AWoV)is assumed as the normal condition,whereas an aorta with TAVI 26 mm for 100%Geometrical Orifice Area(GOA)is considered as the patient aorta with PVL complication.A 3D patient-specific aorta model is elaborated using the MIMICS *** of the identical TAVI valve of Edward SAPIEN XT 26(Edwards Lifes ciences,Irvine,California)is *** undersized 26 mm TAVI valve with 100%valve opening is selected to mimic the presence of PVL at the aortic *** present research indicates that the existence of PVL can increase the blood velocity,pressure drop and WSS in comparison to normal conditions,thereby paving the way to the development of recirculation flow,thrombus formation,aorta wall collapse,aortic rupture and damage of endothelium.

New type of photoluminescence properties of 2,2’:6’,2”-Terpyridine (Terpy) is described. Orthorhombic form of Terpy crystals, which is known to be inherently nonluminous in the visible region, was found to emit strong green light in the presence of traces amount of impurities. Hydroxy-terpyridine, originally included in the Terpy reagent, was found to be the main cause of the green luminescence. Tuning of the luminescent color is possible depending on the dopant species.

作者于 1999年 9、 10月在日本国日光国立公园的一个梅花鹿 (Cervusnippon)高密度区域实施了 16次夜间探照样带距离法取样调查。采用车载探照记数和激光测距仪测距 ,记录了梅花鹿的结群大小和距样带中心样线的垂直距离。应用距离取样技术 (Distancesamplingtechnique ,DST)计算的结果表明 ,梅花鹿的密度为12 5 8头 /km2 (95%CI 10 0 7-157 3 ) ,在两侧 80m宽度的调查样带内梅花鹿的总发现率为 52 5% ;对线样带法的传统动物密度计算方法 (King s ,Hayne s ,Leopold s ,Gates sⅠ ,Gates sⅡ ,Gates sⅢ和Frye s方法 )的结果验证表明 ,这些传统密度计算方法过高估算梅花鹿的密度 ,其结果为距离取样技术 (DST)计算结果的 1 76(Frye′s法 ) -6 10 (Hayne′s法 )倍。因此 ,作者建议在使用线样带法测定动物密度时应尽量避免使用这些传统计算方法 ;不同地区间及同一地区不同季节间应用线样带法调查得到的动物个体记数值之间的比较存在偏差。

This paper describes multi view modeling and data model transformation for the modeling. We have proposed a reference model of CAD system generation, which can be applied to various domain specific languages. However, the current CAD system generation cannot integrate data of multiple domains. Generally each domain has its own view of products. For example, in the domain of architectural structure, designers extract the necessary data from the data in architecture design. Domain experts translate one view into another view beyond domains using their own *** multi view modeling is a way to integrate product data of multiple domains, and make it possible to translate views among various domains by computers.

Polymorphic transformation temperature of 2,2’:6’,2”-Terpyridine (terpy) has been studied. No transformation was observed for unground terpy (orthrhombic form) crystals, while the ground crystals may be transformed into monoclinic form. The transformation temperature was much lower than reported transformation temperature. In addition the transformation temperature decreased with increase of the grinding time. Factors influencing the transformation temperature of terpy were discussed.

Southern Bangladesh＇s irrigation and drinking water is threatened by saline intrusion. This study aimed to establish an irrigation water quality index （IWQI） using a geostatistical model and multivariate indices in Gopalganj district, south-central Bangladesh. Groundwater samples were taken randomly （different depths） in two seasons （wet-monsoon and dry-monsoon）. Hydrochemical analysis revealed groundwater in this area was neutral to slightly alkaline and dominating cations were Na^＋, Mg^2＋, and Ca^2＋ along with major anions Cl^- and HCO3^-. Principal component analysis and Gibbs plot helped explain possible geochemical processes in the aquifer. The irrigation water evaluation indices showed： electrical conductivity （EC）〉750 μS/cm, moderate to extreme saline; sodium adsorption ratio （SAR）, excellent to doubtful; total hardness （TH）, moderate to very hard; residual sodium bicarbonate, safe to marginal; Kelly＇s ratio 〉1; soluble sodium percentage （SSP）, fair to poor; magnesium adsorption ratio, harmful for soil; and IWQI, moderate to suitable. In addition, the best fitted semivariogram for IWQI, EC, SAR, SSP, and TH confirmed that most parameters had strong spatial dependence and others had moderate to weak spatial dependence. This variation might be due to the different origin/sources of major contributing ions along with the influence of variable river flow and small anthropogenic contributions. Furthermore, the spatial distribution maps for IWQI, EC, SSP, and TH during both seasons confirmed the influence of salinity from the sea; low-flow in the major river system was the driving factor of overall groundwater quality in the study area. These findings may contribute to management of irrigation and/or drinking water in regions with similar groundwater problems.

Fatigue is a common sense caused by crushing labor, stressful social events and various illnesses. It is usually judged by their subjective symptoms, but it should be evaluated in an objective perspective. Here we show that the decrease of working efficiency and sympathetic hyperactivity are associated with mental fatigue state caused by prolonged mental workload. Recently we made a new mental fatigue model of healthy volunteers caused by long-term computerized Kraepelin test (CKT) workload. CKT is our new software for automatically checking the calculation capability, with which it is easy to determine the reaction time (RT), coefficient of variance of reaction time (CV), and accuracy of the answers (AC) during tasks. We put 24 healthy volunteers into the fatigue state by subjecting them to 120 minutes’ CKT workload, and then studied the changes in fatigue sensation, RT, CV, and AC before and after the CKT workload. The fatigue sensation, RT, and CV were clearly increased by the fatigue-inducing task and recovered during the resting period. We also studied the changes in autonomic nerve activity by using heart rate variability analysis. The low/high frequency component ratio (LF/HF) was signifi-cantly increased by the fatigue-inducing task and decreased by resting, suggesting that mental stress causes a relatively sympathetic nerve activity-dominant state. Therefore, our new fatigue model involving a long-term CKT workload is a good mental fatigue model to provide much information about the fatigue state simultane-ously, and the increase of RT, CV, and proportion of sympathetic activity (LF/HF) are associated with mental fatigue state. These might be useful objective biomarkers or evaluating a mental fatigue state.

Phosphorus Transfer in the Ash through Acid or AlkaliExtraction Processes

In order to find the best method of the phosphorus recovery, some kinds of the phosphorus recovery methods were applied using the same raw material. The acid treatment shows the highest recovery performance, on the contrary, the alkali treatment indicates the lowest recovery rate. The recovery rate was improved by the application of the heat treatment or hydrothermal method. In the acid treatment, the recovered phosphorus is mainly composed of aluminum phosphate, conversely, in alkali treatment, recovered phosphorus was mainly composed of sodium phosphate containing a small amount of aluminum. But the aluminum content in the phosphorus decreased by introduction of the heat treatment or hydrothermal method.
