Dear Editor, This letter is concerned with the evolution strategy for addressing multi-objective feature selection problems in classification. Previous methods suffer from limitations such as being trapped in local optima and lacking stability. To overcome them, we propose a novel eliteguided mechanism based on information theory. Firstly, an elite solution is generated through a dimension reduction strategy and incorporated to the initialization population.

Organic molecules that exhibit long persistent luminescence (LPL) are rapidly gaining attention for a variety of applications. In this study, organic molecules with simple structures were selected and organic long persistent luminescence (OLPL) crystals were prepared. The crystal structure of the prepared OLPL crystal was elucidated and the guideline for the design of OLPL crystal was clarified. LPL was observed in OLPL crystals prepared with TMB as the guest molecule and 1,2-bis(diphenylphosphino)ethane as the host molecule. XRD measurements of the OLPL crystals suggest that the guest molecule is a solid solution substituted in the stable crystal structure of the host molecule in a lattice-shrinking direction.

Olmesartan for non-alcoholic steatohepatitis complicated with hypertension: An open-label study

Aim: We evaluated the long-term effects of olmesartan, an angiotensin type 1 receptor blocker, in patients with non-alcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH) complicated with hypertension. Methods: All patients were given a standard calorie diet and exercise counseling more than 3 months before the treatment. Seven patients with NASH received olmesartan treatment for 1 year. Liver biopsy, clinical parameters and blood markers of hepatic fibrosis, including serum hyaluronic acid, type IV collagen, and procollagen III N-terminal propeptide levels, were also examined at the beginning and the end of the study. Results: The median dose of the final administration was 20 mg (range, 10 - 40 mg). Olmesartan reduced MAP by –11.3 ± 13.0% (P = 0.046) after 1 year. In the laboratory data, serum AST, ALT, and ferritin significantly decreased after a year of administration (AST, 62 ± 24 vs. 39 ± 20 IU/L, P = 0.018;ALT, 106 ± 79 vs. 55 ± 35 IU/L, P = 0.043;ferritin, 323.8 ± 252.8 vs. 202.3 ± 194.1 ng/ml, P = 0.028). Furthermore, fasting glucose significantly decreased. However, transforming growth factor-beta1, the serum concentration of the fibrosis markers, and all histological features were unchanged at the end of the study. No side effects of the treatment were noted at any time during the study. Conclusion: Olmesartan significantly reduced blood pressure, fasting glucose, aminotransferase, and serum ferritin but could not suppress the hepatic fibrosis markers or histological features after 1 year. Therefore, olmesartan is advisable only for its anti-inflammatory effect in patients with NASH-complicated hypertension.

Subclavian artery (SCA) injuries associated with central venous catheter (CVC) insertion are uncommon yet lethal complications that typically require surgical treatment. This case report presents the case of a 94-year-old man with an iatrogenic right SCA injury resulting from a misplaced CVC. Computed tomography revealed the catheter piercing the right internal jugular vein to enter the right SCA and then reaching the aortic arch. Emergent endovascular treatment was performed, and a 13-mm × 50-mm self-expanding Viabahn stent graft (W.L. Gore & Associates, Flagstaff, AZ, USA) was placed via the right brachial artery. The misplaced catheter was successfully removed under simultaneous postdeployment balloon dilatation. This case highlights the utility of the Viabahn stent graft for iatrogenic right SCA injury caused by a misplaced CVC and presents some insights and tips for a safer procedure.

AIM:To investigate the mutation of p 53 immuno-histochemically in non-tumorous gastric mucosa with H pylori infection before and after H pylori eradication ***:53 subjects(36 male,17 female,mean age ± SEM,57.1 ± 12.1)undergoing endoscopic examination were included in this study.42 of 53 patients were H pylori-positive,and 11 were H *** H pylori-positive patients had successful eradication *** specimens were taken from five points of the stomach,as recommended by the updated Sydney *** studies were performed by using primary antibodies against p53(DO-7 and PAb240).RESULTS:p53(DO-7 and PAb240)immunoreactivity was shown in the neck region of the gastric pits,however,quite a few cells were found to be immunopositive for p 53(PAb240)in the H pylori-infected gastric *** proportion of patients immunopositive for p 53(PAb240)was significantly reduced 6 mo after eradication [28/42(66.7%)to 6/42(14.3%)](P < 0.05),while the biopsies taken from H pylori-negative patients showed no immunoreactivity for p53(PAb240).p53(PAb240)-positive patients were divided into two groups by the number of positive cells detected:one with more than six positive cells per 10 gastric pits(group A,n = 12),and the other with less than five positive cells per 10 gastric pits(group B,n = 30).Atrophy scores in group A were significant higher than those in group B at the greater curvature of the antrum(group A:2.00 ± 0.14 vs group B:1.40 ± 0.15,P = 0.012),the lesser curvature of the corpus(group A:2.00 ± 0.21 vs group B:1.07 ± 0.23,P = 0.017),and the greater curvature of the corpus(group A:1.20 ± 0.30vs group B:0.47 ± 0.21,P = 0.031).Group A showed significant higher intestinal metaplasia scores than group B only at the lesser curvature of the antrum(group A:2.10 ± 0.41 vs group B:1.12 ± 0.29,P = 0.035).CONCLUSION:H pylori-associated chronic gastritis expressed the mutant-type p53,which was significantly associated with more severe atro
