Hematite pigment has a long history,but it cannot be used for ceramic application,because it must be thermally and chemically stable at high firing temperature when using a pigment in a glaze or ceramic ***,through encapsulated systems,a new pigment with suitable thermal and chemical stability can be obtained by encapsulating hematite crystals into selected silica or zircon *** means that nano-sized red hematite has been encapsulated into the protected *** electron micrographs of hematite encapsulated into silica and zircon matrices by sol-gel method show spherical single crystals with diameter of about 5-10 *** order to optimize ceramic glaze formulations for application of the synthesized red inorganic nanocomposite inclusion pigment by sol-gel method,four different types of glazes(i.e.,alkalis,borate,earth alkalis,and leaded glazes)have been *** results show that the substitution of a fraction of zircon by cristobalite in hematite-zircon pigment produces acceptable stability with red hue.

The pandemic of novel coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19)has rampaged the world,with more than 58.4 million confirmed cases and over 1.38 million deaths across the world by 23 November *** is an urgent need to identify effective drugs and vaccines to fight against the *** acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2(SARS-CoV-2)belongs to the family of coronaviruses consisting of four structural and 16 non-structural proteins(NSP).Three non-structural proteins,main protease(Mpro),papain-like protease(PLpro),and RNAdependent RNA polymerase(RdRp),are believed to have a crucial role in replication of the *** applied computational ligand-receptor binding modeling and performed comprehensive virtual screening on FDA-approved drugs against these three SARS-CoV-2 proteins using AutoDock Vina,Glide,and *** computational studies identified six novel ligands as potential inhibitors against SARS-CoV-2,including antiemetics rolapitant and ondansetron for Mpro;labetalol and levomefolic acid for PLpro;and leucal and antifungal natamycin for *** dynamics simulation confirmed the stability of the ligand-protein *** results of our analysis with some other suggested drugs indicated that chloroquine and hydroxychloroquine had high binding energy(low inhibitory effect)with all three proteins—Mpro,PLpro,and *** summary,our computational molecular docking approach and virtual screening identified some promising candidate SARS-CoV-2 inhibitors that may be considered for further clinical studies.

Chronic traumatic ankle and foot osteomyelitis: a nationwide case-control study

Background: Osteomyelitis(OM) is an atypical consequence of ankle-foot trauma which is associated with long-term mental and physical morbidity and persistent pain. This study aimed to assess the health status of OM patients with war-related ankle-foot ***: A total of 1129 veterans with ankle-foot injuries participated in a case-control study(2014–2016). Thirty patients with chronic OM of the ankle-foot were compared with 90 non-OM participants as the control group. Quality of life(QOL), life satisfaction and the ability to perform basic and instrumental activities of daily living were measured using the following questionnaires: short-form health survey(SF-36), satisfaction with life scale(SWLS), activity of daily living(ADL) and instrumental activity of daily living(IADL), respectively. OM patients were categorized according to their risk factors as A, B and C hosts using a modified version of the Cierny and Mader classification system. The one sample t-test, 2-independent sample t-test, ANOVA, Pearson correlation coefficient and multiple linear regression analyses were applied to analyze the ***: Ankle-foot pain leading to surgery(P 0.05). Mobility was significantly lower in the OM patients than in the control group(P=0.023). Life satisfaction(P=0.001) and the ability to perform daily activities were the determinants for poor physical(P=0.018) and mental health-related quality of life(P=0.012). As an abiotic stress,adverse germination temperatures cause serious disruptions in physiological and biochemical processes involved in seed *** a factorial experiment,we examined the effects of different seed priming treatments on enzymatic and biochemical performances of rice seed germination under different *** of the rice genotypes(Hashemi,Sadry-domsefid,IRON-70-7053-7 and NORIN-22)was primed with hydro-hardening,KCl,CaCl2 and ascorbic acid(AsA)and without a priming agent as a control at low(15℃),optimum(25℃)and high(35℃)germination *** results showed that the enzymatic and biochemical performances of all the rice genotypes were affected by the seed priming agents,especially under the low germination *** 15℃,seed priming with AsA was found to be the best agent for the activities of amylase,α-amylase,catalase(CAT),peroxidase(POX),ascorbate peroxidase(APOX)and superoxide dismutase(SOD)as well as the content of soluble sugars in the NORIN-22 genotype,and for protease activity and soluble protein content in the IRON-70-7053-7 *** at the low germination temperature and CAT,POX and protease at the optimum and high germination temperatures were the most important enzymes in occurrence of germination potential in terms of seedling length,vigor index,normal seedling rate and germination *** the priming agents,the highest changes in normal seedling rate were observed at the low and optimum germination temperatures by AsA priming in the Hashemi and NORIN-22 genotypes,and at the high germination temperature under KCl priming in the Hashemi genotype.

Objective: To evaluate the capability of recombinant Leishmania LPG3 and its fragments in the activation of B cells. Methods: In the present study, human B cells were purified from peripheral blood of 10 adult healthy subjects using magnetic-activated cell sorting technique. Subsequently, purified B cells were treated with recombinant LPG3, and its N-terminal and C-terminal fragments at different concentrations(2, 10 and 20 μg/m L). B cell activation was assessed through expression of CD69 molecule by flowcytometry and secretion of IL-6, TNF-α and IL-10 cytokines via enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay following treatment with recombinant antigens. Results: Our results showed that while the recombinant LPG-3 could significantly increase the production of IL-6 and TNF-α(P<0.05) in B cells, it had no effect on the secretion of IL-10 by B cells. Conclusions: Our study indicated that recombinant LPG-3 and especially its N-terminal fragment could stimulate B cell response as an important immune response component against leishmaniasis. Thus, it seems that it can be considered as an effective adjuvant in vaccine developments against leishmaniasis.

Purpose:The reliability of trauma coding is essential in establishing the reliable trauma data and adopting efficient control and monitoring *** present study aimed to determine the reliability of trauma coding in educational hospitals affiliated to Shahid Beheshti University of Medical Sciences,***:In this descriptive cross-sectional study,591 coded medical records with a trauma diagnosis in 2018 were selected and recoded by two *** reliability of trauma coding was calculated using Cohen's *** data were recorded in a checklist,in which the validity of the content had been confirmed by ***:The reliability of the coding related to the nature of trauma in research units was 0.75—0.77,indicating moderate ***,the reliability of the coding of external causes of trauma was 0.57—0.58,suggesting poor ***:The reliability of trauma coding both in terms of the nature of trauma and the external causes of trauma does not have a good status in the research *** can be due to the complex coding of trauma,poor documentation of the cases,and not studying the entire ***,holding training courses for coders,offering training on the accurate documentation to other service providers,and periodically auditing the medical coding are recommended.

Superoleophobic nanocomposite coatings with improved hydrophobic properties were obtained by incorporation of a perfluoroalkyl polymer in hybrid sol-gel matrix containing silica and titania nanoparticles. SiO2 and TiO2 nanoparticles were synthesized based on sol-gel precursors utilizing tetraethyl orthosilicate, 3-glycidoxypropyl trimethoxysilane, and tetra (n-butyl orthotitanate). SEM and EDX images of the coating demonstrated that a Silica nanosphere had been aggregated in superporous structure. The analysis results show that nano-sized inorganic particles (10 - 20 nm) have a uniform distribution and dispersion. By increasing the PFOTES, the oleophobicity of coatings increased due to lowering of surface energy in the presence of fluoropolymer. Results of EIS measurement show that PFOTES and TiO2 nanoparticles increased anti-corrosion property of hybrid coatings. This method introduces a simple way to produce water- and oil-repellent self-cleaning coatings on large areas of different substrates like glass, ceramic, metal and composites.

Mental health disorders in child and adolescent survivors of post-war landmine explosions

Background: To describe the mental health status of 78 child and adolescent survivors of post-war landmine ***: Child and adolescent survivors of landmine explosions who were younger than 18 years old at the time of the study were identified and enrolled in this study. The mental health status of the participants was assessed by general health assessment and psychiatric examinations. Psychiatric assessment and diagnosis were undertaken using the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual for mental disorders(DSM-IV) criteria. A psychiatrist visited and interviewed each survivor and identified psychiatric ***: Seventy-eight child and adolescent survivors with a mean age of 16.11±2 years old were identified and agreed to participate in the study. The mean age of the victims at the time of injury was 8.2±3.12 years old(range 2–15). Thirty-seven(47.4%) of the adolescent survivors suffered from at least one psychiatric disorder. Twenty-nine survivors(37.1%) were newly diagnosed and needed to start medication and psychiatric treatment. The most common findings were anxiety disorders(34.6%), including posttraumatic stress disorder(PTSD) in 20(25.6%), and generalized anxiety disorder(GAD) in 7(9%) subjects. Mild-Moderate depression was found in 5(6.4%) subjects. No personality disorders were observed, and two patients suffered from mental retardation. The study results revealed a significant association between age of casualty, duration of injury and limb amputation, and types of psychological ***: Child and adolescent survivors of landmine explosions had a high prevalence of psychiatric disorders.

Background: Upper limb amputations are one of the unpleasant war injuries that armed forces are exposed to frequently. The present study aimed to assess the musculoskeletal and peripheral nervous systems in Iraq-Iran war veterans with bilateral upper extremity ***: The study consisted of taking a history and clinical examinations including demographic data, presence and location of pain, level of amputation, passive and active ranges of movement of the joints across the upper and lower extremities and spine, manual palpation, neurological examination, blood circulation pulses and issues related to a prosthetic limb. In this study, 103 Iranian bilateral upper extremity amputees(206 amputations) from the IranIraq war were evaluated, and a detailed questionnaire was also ***: The most common level of amputation was the finger or wrist level(108, 52.4%). Based on clinical examination, we found high frequencies of limited active and passive joint range of movement across the scapula, shoulder, elbow, wrist and metacarpophalangeal, interphalangeal and thumb joints. Based on muscle strength testing, we found varying degrees of weakness across the upper limbs. Musculoskeletal disorders included epicondylitis(65, 31.6%), rotator cuff injury(24, 11.7%), bicipital tendonitis(69, 33.5%), shoulder drop(42, 20.4%) and muscle atrophy(19, 9.2%). Peripheral nerve disorders included carpal tunnel syndrome in 13(6.3%) and unilateral brachial plexus injury in 1(1%). Fifty-three(51.5%) were diagnosed with facet joint syndrome at the level of the cervical spine(the most frequent site). Using a prosthesis was reported by 65(63.1%), both left and right sides. The back was the most common site of pain(71.8%).Conclusion: The high prevalence of neuro-musculoskeletal disorders among bilateral upper extremity amputees indicates that they need regular rehabilitation care.
