Intra-tumor heterogeneity is now arguably one of the most-studied topics in tumor biology,as it represents a major obstacle to effective cancer *** tumor cells are highly diverse at genetic,epigenetic,and phenotypic levels,intra-tumor heterogeneity can be assumed as an important contributing factor to the nullification of chemotherapeutic effects,and recurrence of the *** on the role of heterogeneous subpopulations of cancer cells with varying cell-cycle dynamics and behavior during cancer progression and treatment;herein,we aim to establish a comprehensive definition for adaptation of neoplastic cells against *** discuss two parallel and yet distinct subpopulations of tumor cells that play pivotal roles in reducing the effects of chemotherapy:"resistant"and"tolerant"***,this review also highlights the impact of the quiescent phase of the cell cycle as a survival mechanism for cancer *** understanding the mechanisms under-lying the quiescence,it provides an insightful perspective on cancer stem cells(CsCs)and their dual and intertwined functions based on their cell cycle state in response to ***-over,CSCs,epithelial-mesenchymal transformed cells,circulating tumor cells(CTCs),and disseminated tumor cells(DTCs),which are mostly in a quiescent state of the cell cycle are proved to have multiple biological links and can be implicated in our viewpoint of cell cycle heterogeneity in ***,increasing our knowledge of cell cycle heterogeneity is a key to identifying new therapeutic solutions,and this emerging concept may provide us with new opportunities to prevent the dreadful cancer recurrence.

Isolation and molecular identification of cellulolytic bacteria from Dig Rostam hot spring and study of their cellulase activity

Cellulose is the main structural component of lignocellulosic wastes that can be converted to sugars and biofuels by *** to wide applications of this enzyme in various industries around the world,cellulase is considered as the third industrial *** ability of thermophilic bacteria in the production of heat-stable cellulases has made them valuable tools in *** aim of this study was isolation and molecular identification of cellulolytic thermophile bacteria from Dig Rostam hot spring and investigating their cellulase *** were taken from water and sediments of this hot spring,and cellulolytic bacteria were enriched in media containing cellulose as the only carbon *** bacteria were incubated at 60℃,and single colonies were then isolated on solid *** red assay was used as a quick test for the qualitative screening of cellulase *** to these qualitative results,four colonies named CDB1,CDB2,CDB3,and CDB4 were isolated,and their growth curve and some other characteristics were determined by biochemical ***,endoglucanase,exoglucanase,and FPase activities of the isolates were investigated *** indicated that CDB1 exhibited the highest endoglucanase(0.096 U/mL)and exoglucanase(0.156 U/mL)activities among other isolates.16S rDNA partial sequencing indicated that CDB1 had 99%similarity to the genus Anoxybacillus,and the other isolates showed the highest similarity to the genus *** cellulase gene of CDB1 isolate with the highest cellulase activity was also cloned,and its sequence is reported for the first *** studies on this thermophilic enzyme might be useful for industrial applications.

Lamn1-xCuxO3±δ perovskite oxides (x = 0, 0.2, 0.4, 0.6, 0.8, 1) were prepared by two different methods, the Pechini and sol-gel methods. The catalysts were characterized by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, X-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscopy (SEm), energy-dispersive spectroscopy (EDS), X-ray fluorescence spectroscopy, N2 adsorption, and temperature-programmed reduction. Their catalytic activity in the oxidation of methane and CO was evaluated. EDS and SEm results showed that the Pechini samples had more homogeneity and smaller particles (higher specific surface area). The catalytic activity for methane combustion was highest for x = 0.2. In CO oxidation, the oxides with x = 0.2 and x = 0.4 were the most active. The Pechini samples had higher activity and stability than the sol-gel samples.

Efficient Algorithm for Prolonging Network Lifetime of Wireless Sensor Networks

One of the fundamental design challenges in designing a Wireless Sensor Network （WSN） is to maximize the network lifetime, as each sensor node of the network is equipped with a limited power battery. To overcome this challenge, different methods were developed in the last few years using such techniques as network protocols, data fusion algorithms using low power, energy efficient routing, and locating optimal sink position. This paper focuses on finding the optimal sink position. Relay nodes are introduced in conjunction with the sensor nodes to mitigate network geometric deficiencies since in most other approaches the sensor nodes close to the sink become heavily involved in data forwarding and, thus, their batteries are quickly depleted. A Particle Swarm Optimization （PSO） based algorithm is used to locate the optimal sink position with respect to those relay nodes to make the network more energy efficient. The relay nodes communicate with the sink instead of the sensor nodes. Tests show that this approach can save at least 40% of the energy and prolong the network lifetime.

A Coupled Soil-Fluid-Structure Simulation of the Near-Field Earthquake Effects on Gravity Type Quay-Walls

This study focuses on non-linear seismic response of concrete gravity quay-wall structures subjected to near-fault ground motions, a subject which seems not to have received much attention in the literature. A two-dimensional coupled fluid-structure-soil finite element modelling is employed to obtain the quay-wall response. The seawater medium is represented by acoustic type, potential based fluid elements. The elasto-plastic behavior of the soil medium is idealized using Drucker-Prager yield criterion based on associated flow rule assumption. Four nodded plane strain elements are used to model the concrete wall, foundation, subsoil, backfill and seabed zones. Fluid Structure Interface （FSI） elements are considered between the seawater interfaces with the quay-wall and the seabed. Frictional contact elements are employed between the wall and soil interfaces. The numerical model is validated using field measurements available for permanent drifts in a quay-wall damaged during Kobe earthquake. Reasonable agreements are obtained between the model predictions and the field measurements. Non-linear seismic analyses of the selected quay-wall subjected to both near-fault and far-fault ground motions are performed. An incremental dynamic analysis approach （IDA） is used. In general, at least for models examined in the current study, the gravity quay-walls are found to be more vulnerable to near-field, in comparison with the corresponding far-field, earthquakes.

Preparation of La-mo-V mixed-oxide systems and their application in the direct synthesis of acetic acid

In this study, mixed metal oxides developed with a perovskite-type structure that show great potential for use in catalysis. Perovskite oxide catalysts with the composition LamoxV1-xOn （x = 0.1, 0.3, 0.5, 0.7, and 0.9） have been synthesized by the sol-gel method and then used in the ethane dry reforming reaction for the direct synthesis of acetic acid. The influence of the nature of the metallic source （metal, nitrate, acetylacetonate, and ammonium） on gel formation has been studied by Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy （FT-IR） and thermogravimetric analysis （TGA-DTA）. After calcination, the obtained perovskites were characterized by X-ray diffraction （XRD） and energy-dispersive X-ray spectrometry （EDS） coupled with scanning electron microscopy （SEm）. The catalysts were then subjected to thermo-programmed reduction （TPR）. The surface area （BET） was found to increase from 2.6 m^2/g （x = 0.1） to 5.1 m2/g （x = 1.0） with increasing molybdenum content following calcinations at 750 °C, and pure LamoxV1-xOn perovskite was obtained with good homogeneity. The catalysts have been characterized by XRD, SEm, EDS, and carbon analysis （CA）. The results indicate that through this synthesis it is possible to obtain highly crystalline, homogeneous and pure solids, with well-defined structures. The direct synthesis of acetic acid from ethane over the perovskite catalysts was studied at temperatures between 450 and 850 °C and elevated pressures between 1 and 8 bar. It was found that the yield of acetic acid and the selectivity of its formation could be increased by incorporating more molybdenum into the perovskite structure. The experimental studies have shown that the calcination temperature and the molybdenum content have a significant influence on the catalytic activity. Amongst the catalysts tested, Lamo0.7V0.3O4.2 exhibited the best activity and stability.

Anticancer Effects of Valproic Acid on Esophageal Stem-like Carcinoma Cells

Valproic acid(VPA) is a histone deacetylase inhibitor that has been an object of interest to clinicians for its promising potency in cancer therapy, as it induces apoptosis and differentiation, and enhances of chemotherapy sensitivity. Esophageal squamous cell carcinoma(ESCC) is a malignant disease with growing incidence and low survival rate. Due to limited information on VPA activity in ESCC cells, we aimed to determine effects of VPA on chemotherapy responsiveness and expression of malignant markers in ESCC stem-like cells. Upon coadministration of non-toxic VPA + cisplatin(DDP), paclitaxel and 5-fluorouracil, viability of KYSE30 cells was assessed, and induced apoptosis was evaluated by DAPI staining, DNA laddering and flow cytometry. In addition, real time RT-PCR was performed to study changes in the expression of P21, CD44 and BmI-1 upon treatments. mTT test demonstrated that VPA significantly(P med by DNA laddering, flow cytometry analysis and significant(P moreover, real time RT-PCR results indicated significant(P mI-1 after VPA administration. Present attempt provided evidence, for the first time, that VPA not only improved responsiveness of esophageal stem-like cancer cells to DDP, also negatively regulated cancer stem cells markers in these cells.

Petrochemical Characteristics and Timing of middle Eocene Granitic magmatism in Kooh-Shah, Lut Block, Eastern Iran

The Kooh-Shah region located in a Tertiary volcanic-plutonic belt of the Lut Block in eastern Iran comprises several subvolcanic intermediate to acidic intrusive rocks, diorite to syenite in composition, which have intruded into volcanic rocks. The Kooh-Shah granitoid rocks are characterized by enrichment in large ion-lithophile elements （LILE： e.g. Sr, Ba, Rb） and depletion in high field-strength elements （HFSE： e.g. Nb, Ta, Ti）. The chondrite-normalized REE patterns are characterized by moderate LREE enrichment （La/Yb）N=6.01-10.01, medium-heavy REE enrichment, and absence of Eu anomalies. The Kooh-Shah intrusive rocks are metaluminous, shoshonitic with calc-alkaline affinity and high values of magnetic susceptibility, and classified as the magnetite-series of oxidant I-type granitoids. The age of Kooh-Shah granitoid rocks based on zircon U-Pb age dating is 39.7±0.7 ma （=middle Eocene） and the ranges of their initial 87Sr/86Sr and 143Nd/144Nd ratios are from 0.704812 to 0.704920 and 0.512579 to 0.512644, respectively, when recalculated to an age of 39 ma. The initial ？Nd isotope values for the Kooh-Shah intrusive rocks range from -0.18 to 1.09. This geochemical data indicates that the Kooh-Shah granitoid rocks formed from depleted mantle in an island arc setting. The geochemical signature of the studied granitoid rocks represents a characteristic guide for future exploration of copper-gold porphyry-type deposits in the Lut block.

Efficiency enhancement of a two-beam free-electron laser using a nonlinearly tapered wiggler

A nonlinear and non-averaged model of a two-beam free-electron laser （FEL） wiggler that is tapered nonlinearly in the absence of slippage is presented. The two beams are assumed to have different energies, and the fundamental resonance of the higher energy beam is at the third harmonic of the lower energy beam. By using maxwell＇s equations and the full Lorentz force equation of motion for the electron beams, coupled differential equations are derived and solved numerically by the fourth-order Runge-Kutta method. The amplitude of the wiggler field is assumed to decrease nonlinearly when the saturation of the third harmonic occurs. By simulation, the optimum starting point of the tapering and the slopes for reducing the wiggler amplitude are found. This technique can be applied to substantially improve the efficiency of the two-beam FEL in the XUV and X-ray regions. The effect of tapering on the dynamical stability of the fast electron beam is also studied.
