AIM: To examine whether muscle training with an oral IQoroR screen(IQS) improves esophageal dysphagia and reflux ***: A total of 43 adult patients(21 women a n d 2 2 m e n) w e re c o n s e c u t i ve l y re fe r re d t o a swallowing center for the treatment and investigation of long-lasting nonstenotic esophageal dysphagia. Hiatal hernia was confirmed by radiologic examination in 21 patients before enrollment in the study(group A; median age 52 years, range: 19-85 years). No hiatal hernia was detected by radiologic examination in the remaining 22 patients(group B; median age 57 years,range: 22-85 years). Before and after training with an oral IQS for 6-8 mo, the patients were evaluated using a symptom questionnaire(esophageal dysphagia and acid chest symptoms; score 0-3), visual analogue scale(ability to swallow food: score 0-100), lip force test(≥ 15 N), velopharyngeal closure test(≥ 10 s), orofacial motor tests, and an oral sensory test. Another twelve patients(median age 53 years, range: 22-68 years) with hiatal hernia were evaluated using oral IQS traction maneuvers with pressure recordings of the upper esophageal sphincter and hiatus canal as assessed by high-resolution ***: Esophageal dysphagia was present in all 43 patients at entry, and 98% of patients showed improvement after IQS training [mean score(range): 2.5(1-3) vs 0.9(0-2), P cale scores were classified as pathologic in all 43 patients, and 100% showed improvement after IQS training [71(30-100) vs 22(0-50), P cant difference in symptom frequency was found between groups A and B before or after IQS training. AIM:To evaluate the presence of Na+-dependent, active, sugar transport in Barrett's epithelia as an intestinal biomarker, based on the well-documented, morphological intestinal phenotype of Barrett's esophagus (BE). METHODS: We examined uptake of the nonmeta- bolizable glucose analogue, alpha-methyl-D-glucoside (AMG), a substrate for the entire sodium glucose cotransporter (SGLT) family of transport proteins. During upper endoscopy, patients with BE or with uncomplicated gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) allowed for duodenal, gastric fundic, and esophageal mucosal biopsies to be taken. Biopsies were incubated in bicarbonate-buffered saline (KRB) containing 0.1 mmol/L 14c-AMG for 60 min at 20℃. characterized by abundant SGLT, duodenum served as a positive control while gastric fundus and normal esophagus, known to lack SGLT, served as negative controls. RESULTS: Duodenal biopsies accumulated 249.84 ± 35.49 (SEM) picomoles AMG/μg DNA (n = 12), gastric fundus biopsies 36.20 ± 6.62 (n = 12), normal esophagus 12.10 ± 0.59 (n = 3) and Barrett's metaplasia 29.79 ± 5.77 (n = 8). There was a statistical difference (P ch other biopsy site but there was no statistically significant difference between normal esophagus and BE biopsies. 0.5 mmol/L phlorizin (PZ) inhibited AMG uptake into duodenal mucosa by over 89%, but had nosignificant effect on AMG uptake into gastric fundus, normal esophagus, or Barrett's tissue. In the absence of Na+ (all Na+ salts replaced by Li+ salts), AMG uptake in duodenum was decreased by over 90%, while uptake into gastric, esophageal or Barrett's tissue was statistically unaffected. cONcLUSION: Despite the intestinal enterocyte phenotype of BE, Na+-dependent, sugar transport activity is not present in these cells.

The demanding objectives for the future sixth generation(6G)of wireless communication networks have spurred recent research efforts on novel materials and radio-frequency front-end architectures for wireless connectivity,as well as revolutionary communication and computing *** the pioneering candidate technologies for 6G belong the reconfigurable intelligent surfaces(RISs),which are artificial planar structures with integrated electronic circuits that can be programmed to manipulate the incoming electromagnetic field in a wide variety of *** RISs in wireless networks have been recently advocated as a revolutionary means to transform any wireless signal propagation environment to a dynamically programmable one,intended for various networking objectives,such as coverage extension and capacity boosting,spatiotemporal focusing with benefits in energy efficiency and secrecy,and low electromagnetic field *** by the recent increasing interests in the field of RISs and the consequent pioneering concept of the RIS-enabled smart wireless environments,in this paper,we overview and taxonomize the latest advances in RIS hardware architectures as well as the most recent developments in the modeling of RIS unit elements and RIS-empowered wireless signal *** also present a thorough overview of the channel estimation approaches for RIS-empowered communications systems,which constitute a prerequisite step for the optimized incorporation of RISs in future wireless ***,we discuss the relevance of the RIS technology in the latest wireless communication standards,and highlight the current and future standardization activities for the RIS technology and the consequent RIS-empowered wireless networking approaches.

To reduce the burden of denture stomatitis and oral candidiasis,an aqueous solution containing polyhexamethylene guanidine hydrochloride(PHMGH)was investigated as an antifungal disinfectant against the leading cause of these oral conditions,candida *** solutions formulated with concentrations ranging from 0.125 to 0.50 wt%enabled increasing disinfection at the initial 5min-contact with 72h-mature candida biofilms formed on denture liner *** 10 min-contact,the solution at lower concentration has reached total fungal *** results also indicated that the denture liners preserved their mechanical property after the maximum contact time with the solution at the highest tested *** PHMGH aqueous solutions at 0.125 wt%could be applied to promote interim denture liner disinfection without promoting the loss of materials’mechanical property.

OBJEcTIVE: Extra-anmiotic saline infusion has been shown to be equal to or more efficacious than misoprostol, laminaria, dinoprostone, and prostaglandin estradiol for cervical ripening and labor induction. Because of the introduction of a foreign body into the uterus, extra-amniotic saline infusion may potentially cause increased rates of chorioamnionitis. This study examines the risk of chorioamnionitis with extra-amniotic saline infusion compared with other methods of induction and spontaneous labor. METHODS: A retrospective analysis was performed based on deliveries at Bellevue Hospital center, a tertiary-care facility, from August 2000 to December 2002. Three groups were identified: estra-amniotic saline infusion, other methods of induction, and spontaneous labor. Differences in chorioamnionitis rates were analyzed by using analysis of variance and multivariable logistic regression as appropriate. RESULTS: Here were 625 charts evaluated: 171 extra-amniotic saline infusion, 190 other, and 264 with spontaneous labor. The rates of chorioamnionitis were 26.9%, 17.9%, and 13.3%, respectively. After adjusting for confounding variables, such as instrumentation, length of rupture, and number of exams, subjects who were induced with extra-amniotic saline infusion were significantly more likely to develop chorioamnionitis (relative risk = 2.2; 95%confidence interval 1.4, 4.0; P = .006). cONcLUSION: Extra-amniotic saline infusion may be associated with a greater risk of chorioamnionitis when compared with other methods of labor induction. Given the increased risk of chorioamnionitis associated with extra-amniotic saline infusion, its BSc should be in the context of a careful assessment of the risks and benefits of various methods of labor induction.

Objective This study compares the anti-tumor effects of single and combination use of clarithromycin and tamoxifen on estrogen receptor (ER) positive breast cancer cell lines,BT-483 and McF-7 as well as triple negative cell line,MBA-MD-231,which acts as a negative *** effect of solid breast tumor inhibition by clarithromycin is also *** BT-483,McF-7 and MBA-MD-231 were cultured in 6-well plates in a 37 ℃ humidified incubator without cO2 for 24 h prior to the addition of the test *** test groups were clarithromycin (Group 1),tamoxifen (Group 2),clarithromycin and tamoxifen (Group 3),and control (Group 4).Group 3 was prepared in 1 to 1 ratio at a concentration of 1.5 mmol/L clarithromycin and 25 μmol/L *** the other hand,1 mm3 solid breast tumors were submerged into various groups as above for 24 *** the harvest day,the proliferation of cancer cells and solid breast tumor samples were measured by WST-1 proliferation reagent while ATP bioluminescence assay was employed to measure the metabolic rate of the three cell *** The proliferation of BT-483 and McF-7 was suppressed most by combination use of clarithromycin and tamoxifen with statistical *** two drugs did not have an inhibitory effect on the hormonal negative cancer *** solid breast tumor samples,all the test groups showed reduced metabolic rate as compared with the control group (Pconclusion combination use of tamoxifen and clarithromycin are effective in suppressing cell proliferation and metabolism rate of breast cancer cells while single use of clarithromycin effectively inhibits the proliferation of solid breast tumor.

Background We aimed to systematically review the clinical and laboratory features of patients with the multisystem inflam-matory syndrome in pediatrics diagnosed during the cOVID-19 *** sources A literature search in Web of Science,PubMed,Scopus,and Science Direct was made up to June 29,*** Analysis of 15 articles(318 cOVID-19 patients)revealed that although many patients presented with the typical multisystem inflammatory syndrome in pediatrics,Kawasaki-like features as fever(82.4%),polymorphous maculopapular exanthema(63.7%),oral mucosal changes(58.1%),conjunctival injections(56.0%),edematous extremities(40.7%),and cervical lymphadenopathy(28.5%),atypical gastrointestinal(79.4%)and neurocognitive symptoms(31.8%)were also *** had elevated serum lactic acid dehydrogenase,D-dimer,c-reactive protein,procalcitonin,interleukin-6,troponin I levels,and *** 77.0%developed hypotension,and 68.1%went into shock,while 41.1%had acute kidney *** care was needed in 73.7%of cases;13.2%were intubated,and 37.9%required mechanical *** immunoglobulins and steroids were given in 87.7%and 56.9%of the patients,respectively,and anticoagulants were utilized in 67.0%.Pediatric patients were discharged after a hospital stay of 6.77 days on average(95%cI 4.93-8.6).conclusions Recognizing the typical and atypical presentation of the multisystem inflammatory syndrome in pediatric cOVID-19 patients has important implications in identifying children at *** cardiac and renal decompensation and early interventions in patients with multisystem inflammatory syndrome is critical to prevent further morbidity.
