Oxaliplat.n is a chemot.erapeut.c drug used for colorect.l cancer t.eat.ent. t.e t.st.cular t.xic effect.is one of it. recorded t.xicit.es which result.d in a few st.dies. Oxidat.ve st.ess could be a direct.cause of t.is t.st.cular t.xicit.. Cerium oxide nanopart.cles (CONPs) are opt.mist.c ant.oxidant. for applicat.ons in medicine. t.e aim of t.e work is t. st.dy t.e prot.ct.ve effect.of CONPs on t.st.cular t.xicit. induced by oxaliplat.n in rat.. Fort. adult.male albino rat. were divided int. 4 groups: Cont.ol group, CONPs group (60 mg/kg, 5 t.mes/week), Oxaliplat.n group (4 mg/kg, t.ice/week), and Oxaliplat.n & CONPs group, for 4 weeks. Sevent.-t.o hours aft.r t.e last.administ.at.on, blood samples were t.ken for hormonal levels and t.st.s were used for bot. hist.pat.ology and immunohist.chemical microscopic examinat.on. Sperm smears were also performed and t.eir result. were st.t.st.cally analyzed t. det.ct.any sperm abnormalit.es. Oxaliplat.n increased MDA levels. SOD and GPx act.vit. was decreased. GSH levels were decreased. Also, it.decreased t.e sperm cell count.and serum t.st.st.rone, and ant.-Müllerian hormon. In t.e t.st.cular sect.ons, significant.hist.pat.ology changes were seen and immunohist.chemical examinat.on confirmed t.ese result.. Upon supplement.t.on of CONPs wit. oxaliplat.n decreased MDA levels. SOD and GPx act.vit. was increased, and GSH did not.change. In t.st.cular sect.ons, normal morphology was seen. Also, t.ere was an increase in t.e sperm cell count.and serum t.st.st.rone ant.-Müllerian wit. significant.improvement.of t.st.cular archit.ct.re, and immunohist.chemical examinat.on confirmed t.ese result.. t.e ut.lizat.on of CONPs produced significant.prot.ct.on against.all of t.e above-ment.oned changes.

t.ong>Int.oduct.on: t.ong>t.ere are ext.nsive people exposures t. paraquat.(PQ) herbicide result.ng in human healt. hazards. t.ong>Aim of t.e Work:t.ong> t. compare t.e beneficial neuroprot.ct.ve effect. of hesperidin and benfot.amine on paraquat.(PQ)-induced spinal cord neurot.xic effect. in rat.. t.ong>Mat.rials and Met.ods:t.ong> Rat. were divided int. 4 groups as following: cont.ol, paraquat.(PQ 20.8 mg/kg, oral gavage (e.g.)), paraquat.+ benfot.amine (50 mg/kg, oral gavage (e.g.)) and paraquat.+ hesperidin (40 mg/kg, oral gavage (e.g.)). PQ is given as t.e previous dose. Rat. are t.eat.d 6 days per week.t.ong> Result.: t.ong>t.ere was a significant.increased mean value of malondialdehyde associat.d wit. a significant.reduct.on in t.e cont.nt.of reduced glut.t.ione and ant.oxidant.enzymes act.vit.es associat.d wit. a significant.increase in Serum phosphorylat.d neurofilament.H, neurospecific enolase and s100 levels were recorded and significant.spinal cord hist.pat.ological changes in paraquat.t.eat.d group as compared t. t.eir corresponding values in t.e cont.ol group and immunohist.chemical examinat.on confirmed t.ese result.. Upon supplement.t.on wit. benfot.amine and hesperidin t. paraquat.t.eat.d rat., t.ere was a significant.decrease in t.e mean values of malondialdehyde associat.d wit. a marked increase in t.e cont.nt.of reduced glut.t.ione and ant.oxidant.enzymes act.vit.es associat.d wit. a significant.decrease in Serum phosphorylat.d neurofilament.H, neurospecific enolase and s100 levels were also recorded wit. significant.improvement.of spinal cord archit.ct.re when compared wit. t.e paraquat.t.eat.d group. t.ong>Conclusion:t.ong> t.e use of benfot.amine and hesperidin produced a significant.prot.ct.on against.all of t.e above-ment.oned changes.

Int.oduct.on: Organ phosphorus (OP) t.xicit. has been st.died ext.nsively because of it. world wide use. t.xicit. of organophosphat.s is t.e result.of inhibit.on of acet.l cholinest.rase result.ng in cholinergic signs. Aim of t.e Work: t. evaluat. init.al indicat.rs t.at.can indicat. prognosis of pat.ent. in OP poisoning. Mat.rials and Met.ods: A ret.ospect.ve st.dy conduct.d in Zagazig universit. hospit.l over a year. OP poisoning was clinically diagnosed wit. hist.ry of OP compound exposure and confirmed by low pseudo cholinest.rase levels. Result.: In t.e present.st.dy, 76 pat.ent. were enrolled. Major cases were male. High mort.lit. rat.s were in t.e yout. and in prolonged vent.lat.d pat.ent.. t.e mort.lit. rat. was proport.onally relat.d t. lag t.me aft.r exposure and plasma pseudo cholinest.rase levels. Elect.olyt. dist.rbance did not.affect.clinical out.ome. Conclusion: From t.is st.dy, it.could be concluded t.at.mort.lit. is direct.y proport.onat. t. t.e lag t.me, amount.of OP consumed, clinical severit., pseudo cholinest.rase levels and durat.on of vent.lat.r support. t.is st.dy helps in rapid diagnosis, and rapid early and effect.ve t.eat.ent. which may result.in decreasing t.e morbidit. and mort.lit. rat.s. Recommendat.on: It.is recommended t. increase awareness regarding t.e rapid diagnosis, and rapid effect.ve t.eat.ent.of organ phosphorous.

Simulat.on result. show t.at.t.e signal-t.-noise rat.o gain of SSK largely increases wit. great.r spect.al efficiencies and/or higher t.rbulence effect.. AIM: t. examine t.e abilit. of cyclin-dependent.kinase inhibit.r (CDKI) roscovit.ne (Rosco) t. enhance t.e ant.t.mor effect. of convent.onal chemot.erapeut.c agent. act.ng by different.mechanisms against.human colorect.l cancer. MEt.ODS: Human colorect.l cancer cells were t.eat.ed, individually and in combinat.on, wit. Rosco, t.xol, 5-Fluorouracil (5-FU), doxorubicine or vinblast.ne. t.e ant.proliferat.ve effect. and t.e t.pe of int.ract.on of Rosco wit. t.st.d chemot.erapeut.c drugs were de-t.rmined. Cell cycle alt.rat.ons were invest.gat.d by fluorescence-act.vat.d cell sort.r FACS analysis. Apop-t.sis was det.rmined by DNA fragment.t.on assay. RESULt.: Rosco inhibit.d t.e proliferat.on of t.mor cells in a t.me-and dose-dependent.manner. t.e ef-ficacies of all t.st.d chemot.erapeut.c drugs were markedly enhanced 3.0-8.42 × 103 and 130-5.28 × 103 fold in combinat.on wit. 5 and 10 μg/mL Rosco, re-spect.vely. t.e combinat.on of Rosco and chemot.era-peut.c drugs inhibit.d t.e growt. of human colorect.l cancer cells in an addit.ve or synergist.c fashion, and in a t.me and dose dependent.manner. Rosco induced apopt.sis and synergized wit. t.st.d chemot.era-peut.c drugs t. induce efficient.apopt.sis in human colorect.l cancer cells. Sequent.al, invert.d sequent.al and simult.neous t.eat.ent.of cancer cells wit. combi-nat.ons of chemot.erapeut.c drugs and Rosco arrest.d t.e growt. of human colorect.l cancer cells at.various phases of t.e cell cycle as follows: t.xol/Rosco (G2/M-and S-phases), 5-FU/Rosco (S-phase), Dox/Rosco (S-phase) and Vinb/Rosco (G2/M-and S-phases). CONCLUSION: Since t.e eff icacy of many ant.cancer drugs depends on t.eir abilit. t. induce apopt.t.c cell deat., modulat.on of t.is paramet.r by cell cycle inhibi-t.rs may provide a novel chemo-prevent.ve and chemo-t.erapeut.c st.at.gy for human colorect.l cancer.
