The effect of propolis, taken from honeybee hives in Tokat (Turkey), on mycelium development of oyster mushroom (Pleurotus ostreatus) was investigated. Propolis contains various chemical com- pounds and has antiviral, antibacterial and antifungal activities. Mushroom spores were inoculated in Potato Dextrose Agar (PDA) media containing different proportions of propolis. Mycelium development on media containing 0.10%, 0.30%, and 0.50% propolis occured at the first, third, and fifth days, respectively. The fastest and most intense development was seen on medium containing 0.10% propolis. According to our results, propolis can be used as an enriching material in mushroom cultivating.

In patients with diabetes mellitus, cardiovascular disease is the principal cause of mortality and chest pain is the most frequent symptom in patients with stable and acute coronary artery disease. However, there is little knowledge concerning the pervasiveness of uncommon presentations in diabetics. The symptomatology of acute coronary syndrome, which comprises both pain and non-pain symptoms, may be affected by traditional risk factors such as age, gender, smoking, hypertension, diabetes, and dyslipidemia. Such atypical symptoms may range from silent myocardial ischemia to a wide spectrum of non-chest pain symptoms. Worldwide, few studies have highlighted this under-investigated subject, and this aspect of ischemic heart disease has also been under-evaluated in the major clinical trials. The results of these studies are highly diverse which makes definitive conclusions regarding the spectrum of atypical presentation of acute and even stable chronic coronay artery disease difficult to confirm. This may have a significant impact on the morbidity and mortality of coronary artery disease in diabetics. In this up-to-date review we will try to analyze the most recent studies on the atypical presentations in both acute and chronic ischemic heart disease which may give some emphasis to this under-investigated topic.

Clostridium sporogenes and Clostridium tepidium strains were detected in traditional Kashar cheese samples with late blowing *** control Clostridium spp.,in Kashar cheese,dairy originated Lactic Acid Bacteria(LAB)strains were tested under in vitro conditions and during Kashar *** strains,Lactiplantibacillus plantarum and Lactococcus lactis *** demonstrated anticlostridial activity in vitro and the co-inoculum of these two strains(107 cfu g^(-1))were tested during the challenge test on Kashar cheese production in which a contamination ratio of 10^(4) cfu g^(-1) with spores of *** were *** samples were stored at 4℃ and 25℃ during 40 days of storage period and microbiological and physicochemical properties of Kashar samples were determined during this period.A decrement of nearly 1 log cfu g^(-1) in *** numbers was observed in Kashar samples produced with co-inoculum of *** and *** *** stored at 4℃ but this was not the case for the Kashar samples stored at 25℃.This study revealed the potential of distinct LAB strains to control *** spores in semi-hard cheese samples as biocontrol agents at 4℃ storage.

Studies on litterfall and decomposition provide estimations of decomposition rates of different *** is key information to understanding ecosystem dynamics and changes in a scenario of global *** objective of this research was to assess litterfall production,the potential deposition of macro and micronutrients through leaf and twig fall as well as macronutrient—use efficiency in three forest ecosystems at different altitudes： a pine forest mixed with deciduous species（S1）; a Quercus ***（S2）; and,a Tamaulipan thornscrub forest（S3）.Total annual litterfall deposition was 594,742 and 533 g m^（-2） for S1,S2 and *** litter was higher （68%） than twigs（18%）,reproductive structures（8%） or miscellaneous material（6%）.Micronutrient leaf deposition was higher for Fe followed by Mn,Zn and *** leaf deposition was higher for Ca followed by K,Mg and *** though P deposition in leaves and twigs was lower than other macronutrients,its nutrient use efficiency was higher than Ca,Mg or *** and species composition determine litter and nutrient deposition,with higher values at mid-altitudes（550 m）.Altitude is an important factor to consider when analyzing litter production as well as nutrient deposition as shown in this *** production and nutrient deposition are expected to change in a scenario of global warming.

Limestone has been used as a partial substitute for cement, due to its beneficial effect on mechanical properties of mortars and concretes. In the present research, we studied the effect of the mineralogical composition in mortars produced from limestone samples collected in different areas of Mozambique, using two cement types (Portland cement 32.5N and 42.5N). Additions of 10 to 25% limestone gave, in general and for the 32.5N cement, good results of the compressive strength for all limestone samples, while for the 42.5N only the Massinga samples performed well. Effect of the limestone additions on the flexural strength showed a beneficial effect for all samples and at all compositions studied, when using the 42.5N cement, while for the 32.5N cement only additions of 10% limestone gave values of the flexural strength higher than the reference material, with the exception of the Magude samples.

We report the results of a survey for myxomycetes in the Chinese province of Xinjiang,covering the northern part of the Tarim basin and the eastern Tian-Shan *** in the hyperarid Tarim basin focused on monospecific Tugai forests;these are park-like stands of the phreatophyte Populus *** a transect from the Tarim basin to the mountains,trees vanish outside the basin,but reoccur at ca.1,400 m elevation as monospecific forests of Picea schrenkiana;the second focal area of the *** a total of 362 substrate samples(245 from the Tarim basin,177 from the mountains)we obtained 477 determinable records of myxomycetes,plus a total of 206 field collections,the latter almost exclusively from the spruce forests in the *** the 80 taxa recorded 53 are represented by field collections,and 32 were found in moist chamber cultures;with a very low overlap in species assemblages found in the field and in *** receiving less than 50 mm annual precipitation,corticolous myxomycetes were common in the Tugai forests,with Physarum pseudonotabile ***.,Didymium anellus,Echinostelium colliculosum and Protophysarum phloiogenum as the most common *** to the Tarim basin(21 taxa)the mountains were much richer in myxomycetes(75 taxa),although the diversity recovered from cultures was comparable(21 vs.28 taxa).Most species from the mountains fruited on decaying spruce,often collected under or even inside the logs due to the extremely dry *** results suggest first that there is no lower limit of annual precipitation for myxomycetes,as long as at least some days with nightly dew fall allow these organisms to complete their life ***,the two examples of surprisingly diverse myxomycete assemblages from monospecific forests demonstrate,that species richness of this group is not necessarily connected with plant diversity of the *** survey is the most eastern of a large-scale study of myxomycete diversity throughout M
