Preparation and Characterisation of Corncob-Based Biosorbents in Côte d’Ivoire

This study focuses on the preparation of corncob-based biosorbents. The chemical impregnation method was used to vary the chemical agent namely phosphoric acid H3PO4 (BA) and sodium hydroxide NaOH (BB). The physicochemical analysis of the two biosorbents indicated that under the same preparation conditions, the bio-sorbents have after activation yields lower than 50% (24.37% for BB and 49.09% for BA). In addition, the biosorbents have iodine index values between 444.17 mg/g and 418.79 mg/g and specific surfaces related to the adsorption of methylene blue ranging from 18.54 m2/g to 19.70 m2/g. The study of surface functional groups by using the Boehm test and pH zero point charge (pHPZC) confirmed the acidic nature of BA and BB biosorbents with respective values pHPZC = 4.01 and pHPZC = 4.90. The Langmuir method and BET analysis determined the specific surface areas by liquid phase adsorption of methylene blue as well as the porosity. The BET surface areas of BA and BB obtained are 72.01 m2/g and 63.10 m2/g respectively. The influence of the chemical activating agent on the formation of pores was confirmed by electron microscopy (SEM) analysis. From this study, it is found that the best activating agent for corn cobs was found to be phosphoric acid because the BA biosorbent was revealed to be the most favourable due to its surface area and good pore volume which are high compared to sodium hydroxide NaOH. Moreover, their application as adsorbent for effluent treatment could be explored.

Effect of Wood-drying Condensate on Emission of Volatile Organic Compounds and Bonding Properties of Fibreboard

Potential use of condensate generated by cooling the steam obtained during high-frequency/vacuum drying step of hardwood lumber was *** liquid condensates were obtained from oak,beech and walnut *** liquid condensate was then used as a replacement for deionized water in the synthesis of Urea-Formaldehyde(UF)resin(5 wt%of total resin)using a laboratory scale *** Density Fibreboards(MDFs)were produced using control and modified *** of Volatile Organic Compounds(VOCs)from the MDFs were determined by Micro Chamber *** bonding properties of the MDFs were determined according to European *** main VOC emissions from MDFs produced using UF resin containing the condensate were a-Pinene,b-Pinene,careen,and acetic acid,which were lower than those of the control MDF,except for the acetic acid emission of MDF with oak *** the tree species,the beech wood condensate gave the lowest VOC emissions(732μg·m^-3)from the MDFs,followed by the MDFs containing walnut wood condensate(852μg·m^-3),oak wood condensate(998μg·m^-3),and control MDF(3529μg·m^-3),***,the internal bond strength of MDFs containing the condensate was negatively impacted by the condensate(0.70 N·mm^-2 to 0.54 N·mm^-2 depending on the tree species).The results showed that the liquid wood-drying condensate which generally released to the ground could be efficiently used as an alternative to expensive VOCs scavenger used in the production of UF resin bonded *** may be one of the most efficient uses of the condensate in high value-added materials.

The SARS-CoV-2 Omicron variants are notorious for their transmissibility,but little is known about their subgenomic RNA(sgRNA)*** study applied RNA-seq to delineate the quantitative and qualitative profiles of canonical sgRNA of 118 respiratory samples collected from patients infected with Omicron BA.2 and compared with 338 patients infected with non-variant of concern(non-VOC)-D614g.A unique characteristic profile depicted by the relative abundance of 9 canonical sgRNAs was reproduced by both BA.2 and non-VOCD614g regardless of host gender,age and presence of ***,such profile was lost in samples with low viral load,suggesting a potential application of sgRNA pattern to indicate viral activity of individual patient at a specific time point.A characteristic qualitative profile of canonical sgRNAs was also reproduced by both BA.2 and *** presence of a full set of canonical sgRNAs carried a coherent correlation with crude viral load(AUC¼0.91,95%CI 0.88–0.94),and sgRNA ORF7b was identified to be the best surrogate marker allowing feasible routine application in characterizing the infection status of individual *** potentials in using sgRNA as a target for vaccine and antiviral development are worth pursuing.

H^2-Stabilization of the Isothermal Euler Equations: a Lyapunov Function Approach

The authors consider the problem of boundary feedback stabilization of the 1D Euler gas dynamics locally around stationary states and prove the exponential stability with respect to the H2-norm. To this end, an explicit Lyapunov function as a weighted and squared H2-norm of a small perturbation of the stationary solution is constructed. The authors show that by a suitable choice of the boundary feedback conditions, the H2- exponential stability of the stationary solution follows. Due to this fact, the system is stabilized over an infinite time interval. Furthermore, exponential estimates for the C norm are derived.

Klingsor Syndrome: An Observation in a Patient with Schizophrenia

Background: Klingsor syndrome refers to genital self-mutilation in man following delusional religious beliefs. Later, Schweitzer proposed expanding the term to include all psychotic disorders, drug and alcohol abuse. Apart from the noted hemorrhagic emergency and difficult surgical operation, there is a psychosocial impact, sexual and urinary complications (stenosis, urethral fistula) which make this pathology complex. Aim: The Aim of this study is to describe the clinical case of Klingsor syndrome and evaluate its management in light of the literature. Case Presentation: We report a rare case of genital self-mutilation in a 35-year-old man, non-compliant schizophrenic, received 04 days after the trauma and whose treatment consisted of remodeling of the penis stump and follow-up by psychiatrists. Conclusion: Klingsor syndrome is a rare but serious phenomenon. Its management remains complex, but it must be early and multidisciplinary.

This study aimed to discriminate ten Cameroonian cocoa hybrids according to their total fat, fatty acid composition, tocopherol and tocotrienol profiles. Six cocoa clones from the gene banks of the Cameroon Cocoa Development Corporation were used to create hybrids. The determination of fatty acid composition was carried out by using a gas chromatography (gC) apparatus coupled by a flame ion detector (FID). Tocopherol and tocotrienol analysis was performed by upper high-performance liquid chromatography (UHPLC). Information on the impact of the genotype on the cocoa fat composition was provided. The major fatty acids (FA) in fermented samples are stearic (34.57%), palmitic (26.13%), oleic (34.13%) and linoleic (3.16%) acids. (35.05% to 35.6%). SCA12 × ICS40, SCA12 × SNK13, SNK13 × T79/501 have the least hard cocoa butters. Tocopherols analysis showed a predominance of γ-tocopherols (94.64 ± 1.51 to 292.16 ± 3.17 µg∙g−1), whereas only a small amount of β and δ-tocopherol (from 0.46 to 2.78 µg∙g−1 and 0.12 to 5.82 respectively) was observed. No γ-tocotrienol was found in fermented samples. A differentiation in terms of total fat and tocopherol content was observed amongst hybrids with the same mother-clone, suggesting an impact of pollen on these compounds.

以苯乙烯（St）、丙烯酸正丁酯（BA）、丙烯酸叔丁酯（tBA）为单体，H2O2-FeSO4为引发体系，高取代度阳离子淀粉（HCS）为乳化剂，开展了苯丙表面施胶剂的无皂乳液聚合。探讨了HCS的用量、分子量（以特性黏度表示）、取代度对乳液聚合的影响，使用多种方法评价了乳液的理化性能与应用性能。所制备得的高取代度阳离子淀粉基苯丙乳液胶粒平均粒径小（126.2 nm）、正电性强（Zeta电位为25.8 mV）、贮存稳定性优良；将其应用在瓦楞原纸上，施胶纸张的Cobb值为21.6 g/m2，水滴接触角达121.6°，与低取代度阳离子淀粉基苯丙乳液相比，其应用效果具有明显优势。研究对其能赋予纸张更佳施胶效果的原因也提出了机理性的解释。

While we eagerly anticipate SMILE’s(Solar wind Magnetosphere Ionosphere Link Explorer)unprecedented X-ray observations of the Earth’s magnetosheath and the initiation of a new era of magnetospheric research,it seems appropriate to look ahead to the abilities of the next generation of astrophysics *** these,the Line Emission Mapper(LEM),a large aperture micro-calorimeter based mission,is currently planned to be able to observe the magnetosheath at high spectral resolution(~2 eV).With a field of view of~30′,LEM will allow higher spatial resolution and higher cadence measurement of the motion of a very small portion of the magnetopause over relatively short periods of time(multiple hours),complementing SMILE’s global ***’s strength is its spectral *** will be able to measure the abundance of a broad range of elements and ionization states,many of which are inaccessible to current in situ instruments,and will be able to separate the emission from the magnetosheath from the emission from the cosmic X-ray background using the difference in their relative velocities.

Emergency evacuation in a supermarket during a terrorist attack: towards a possible modelling of the influence of affordances on the evacuation behavior of agents in a complex virtual environment

During a terrorist attack on a supermarket,the use of emergency exits is essential for effective evacuation and saving ***,people tend to ignore emergency *** behavior can lengthen evacuation times,endanger individuals,and even prove *** this context,we conducted a series of experiments to explore the links between cognition and the dynamics of human capabilities in a complex and changing *** a series of behavioral experiments and computer simulations,we found that active guidance by green flashing lights at emergency exits impacts the behavior of individuals in an emergency evacuation situation in a supermarket;this tested our hypothesis that changing the environment in turn changes the evacuation behavior of *** also show that environmental modification can help in decision-making in an emergency ***,the results of computer simulations support a possible modeling of the influence of affordances on the evacuation behavior of agents in a complexvirtual environment.
