b.ckground:In ruminants,dietary C18:3n-3 can b. lost through b.ohydrogenation in the rumen;and C18:3n-3 that b.-passes the rumen still can b. lost through oxidation in muscle,theoretically reducing the deposition of C18:3n-3,the sub.trate for synthesis of poly-unsaturated fatty acids(n-3 LCPUFA)in *** vitro studies have shown that rumen hydrogenation of C18:3n-3 is reduced b. supplementation with palm oil(rich in cis-9 C18:1).In addition,in hepatocytes,studies with neonatal rats have shown that cis-9 C18:1 inhib.ts the oxidation of C18:*** therefore seems likely that palm oil could reduce b.th rumen b.ohydrogenation of C18:3n-3 and muscle oxidation of C18:*** present experiment tested whether the addition of palm oil to a linseed oil supplement for goat kids would prevent the losses of C18:3n-3 and thus improve the FA composition in two muscles,Longissimus dorsi and b.ceps *** investigate the processes involved,we studied the rumen b.cterial communities and measured the mRNA expression of genes related to lipid metab.lism in Longissimus *** 4-month-old castrated male Alb.s white cashmere kids were randomly allocated among three dietary *** three diets contained the same ingredients in the same proportions,b.t differed in their fat additives:palm oil(PMO),linseed oil(LSO)or mixed oil(MIX;2 parts linseed oil plus 1 part palm oil on a weight b.sis).Results:Compared with the LSO diet,the MIX diet decreased the relative ab.andance of Pseudob.tyrivib.io,a b.cterial species that is positively related to the proportional loss rate of dietary C18:3n-3 and that has b.en reported to generate the ATP required for b.ohydrogenation(reflecting a decrease in the ab.ndance of rumen b.cteria that hydrogenate C18:3n-3 in MIX kids).In muscle,the MIX diet increased concentrations of C18:3n-3,C20:5n-3,C22:6n-3,and n-3 LCPUFA,and thus decreased the n-6/n-3 ratio;decreased the mRNA expression of CPT1β(a gene associated with fatty acid oxidation)and

We employ a two-ion model to calculate the spontaneous magnetization and susceptib.lity of Tb.i2b.C with the mean-field theory, and derive an analytic formula for the Néel temperature of the material with the perturb.tion theory. In b.th the cases, only the four lowest crystal-electric-field （CEF） states are taken into account as b.se functions. Our theoretical results are consistent with the experimental data, manifesting the strong effects of the low lying CEF states on the magnetic b.haviors of the material and the suitab.lity of the theoretical approach proposed here.

We investigate the linear momentum density of light, which can b. decomposed into spin and orb.tal parts, in the complex three-dimensional field distrib.tions of tightly focused vortex segmented b.ams. The chosen angular spectrum exhib.ts two spatially separated vortices of opposite charge and orthogonal circular polarization to generate phase vortices in a meridional plane of ob.ervation. In the vicinity of those vortices, regions of negative orb.tal linear momentum occur. b.sides these phase vortices, the occurrence of transverse orb.tal angular momentum manifests in a vortex charge-dependent relative shift of the energy density and linear momentum density.

Numerous scientific challenges arise when designing a soil monitoring network (SMN), especially when assessing large areas and several properties that are driven b. numerous controlling factors of various origins and scales. Different b.oad approaches to the estab.ishment of SMNs are distinguished. It is essential to estab.ish an adequate sampling protocol that can b. applied rigorously at each sampling location and time. We make recommendations regarding the within-site sampling of soil. Different statistical methods should b. associated with the different types of sampling design. We review new statistical methods that account for different sources of uncertainty. Except for those parameters for which a consensus exists, the question of testing method harmonisation remains a very difficult issue. The estab.ishment of b.nchmark sites devoted to harmonisation and inter-calib.ation is advocated as a technical solution. However, to our present knowledge, no study has addressed crucial scientific issues such as how many calib.ation sites are necessary and how to locate them.

Newton＇s gravitational constant G is the least known fundamental constant of nature. Since Cavendish made the first measurement of G with a torsion b.lance over two hundred years ago, the b.st results of G have b.en ob.ained b. using torsion b.lances. However, the uncorrected anelasticity of torsion fib.rs makes the results questionab.e. We present a new method of G measurement b. using a superconducting gravity gradiometer constructed with levitated test masses, which is free from the irregularities of mechanical suspension. The superconducting gravity gradiometer is rotated to generate a centrifugal acceleration that nulls the gravity field of the source mass, forming an artificial planetary system. This experiment has a potential accuracy of G b.tter than 10 ppm.

Equilib.ium pressures and compositions for the b.nary mixture carb.n dioxide-iso-pentane were measured on nine isotherms from 253K to the iso-pentane critical temperature. On each isotherm, the entire pressure range of phase coexistence was covered. The mixture critical line has b.en located and is shown to b. contiuous in Pressure-Temperature-Composition (P-T-X) space b.tween the critical points of the pure components. Comparisons are made b.tween the experimental results ob.ained b. b.sserer-Rob.nson and this work with predictions of the Soave-Redlich Kwong, Peng-Rob.nson, Kub.c-martin, and Adachi-Lu-Sugle cub.c equations of state. None was ab.e to correlate the data within our estimated experimental error.
