1991-2020 climate normal in the European Alps:focus on high-elevation environments

Alps are an important geographical area of the European continent and,in this area,temperature increase is most ***,the 1991-2020 climate normal in the Alps has still not been thoroughly *** to fill this gap with a focus on high-elevation environments,minimum and maximum daily air temperature acquired by 23 automatic weather station were *** results show that the mean annual values of minimum and maximum temperature for the 1991-2020 climate normal in the Alps are-2.4℃ and 4.4℃,respectively,with a warming rate of 0.5℃/10 *** mean annual temperature comparison between 1961-1990 and 1971-2000,1961-1990 and 1981-2010,1961-1990 and 1991-2020 climate normal show an increase of 0.3℃,0.5℃ and 0.9℃,*** results also confirm that seasonal and annual temperatures are rising through the whole Alpine arc,mainly in summer and *** work highlights that annual minimum and maximum temperature do not seem to be affected by a positive elevation-dependent ***,a positive elevation-dependent warming in the maximum values of the annual minimum temperature was *** anthropogenic emissions maintain the trend of the last decades,the expected mean annual temperature of the 2001-2030 climate normal is-0.2℃,with an increase of 0.5℃ if compared to the 1991-2020 climate normal and with an increase of 1.5℃ if compared to the 1961-1990 climate *** study highlights the warming rate that is now present in the European Alps,provides indications on the warming rate that will occur in the coming years and highlights the importance of carrying out investigations that consider not only the last 30-year climate normal,but also the most recent 30-year climate normal by comparing them with each other.

Neurotrophic factors and corneal nerve regeneration

The cornea has unique features that make it a useful model for regenerative medicine studies. It is an avascular, transparent, densely innervated tissue and any pathological changes can be easily detected by slit lamp examination. Corneal sensitivity is provided by the ophthalmic branch of the trigeminal nerve that elicits protective reflexes such as blinking and tearing and exerts trophic support by releasing neuromediators and growth factors. Corneal nerves are easily evaluated for both function and morphology using standard instruments such as corneal esthesiometer and in vivo confocal microscope. All local and systemic conditions that are associated with damage of the trigeminal nerve cause the development of neurotrophic keratitis, a rare degenerative disease. Neurotrophic keratitis is characterized by impairment of corneal sensitivity associated with development of persistent epithelial defects that may progress to corneal ulcer, melting and perforation. Current neurotrophic keratitis treatments aim at supporting corneal healing and preventing progression of corneal damage. Novel compounds able to stimulate corneal nerve recovery are in advanced development stage. Among them, nerve growth factor eye drops showed to be safe and effective in stimulating corneal healing and improving corneal sensitivity in patients with neurotrophic keratitis. Neurotrophic keratitis represents an useful model to evaluate in clinical practice novel neuro-regenerative drugs.

Analysis of Anisotropic Nonlocal Diffusion Models:Well-Posedness of Fractional Problems for Anomalous Transport

We analyze the well-posedness of an anisotropic,nonlocal diffusion *** an equivalence between weighted and unweighted anisotropic nonlocal diffusion operators in the vein of unified nonlocal vector calculus,we apply our analysis to a class of fractional-order operators and present rigorous estimates for the solution of the corresponding anisotropic anomalous diffusion ***,we extend our analysis to the anisotropic diffusion-advection equation and prove well-posedness for fractional orders s∈[0.5,1).We also present an application of the advection-diffusion equation to anomalous transport of solutes.

Impact of Distance Measures on the Performance of AIS Data Clustering

Automatic Identification System(AIS)data stream analysis is based on the AIS data of different vessel’s behaviours,including the vessels’*** the AIS data consists of outliers,noises,or are incomplete,then the analysis of the vessel’s behaviours is not possible or is *** the data consists of outliers,it is not possible to automatically assign the AIS data to a particular *** this paper,a clustering method is proposed to support the AIS data analysis,to qualify noises and outliers with respect to their suitability,and finally to aid the reconstruction of the vessel’s *** this paper,clustering results have been obtained using selected algorithms,including k-means,k-medoids,and fuzzy *** on the clustering results,it is possible to decide on the qualification of data with outliers and on their usefulness in the reconstruction of the vessel *** main aim of this paper is to answer how different distance measures during a clustering process can influence AIS data clustering *** main core question is whether or not they have an impact on the process of reconstruction of the vessel trajectories when the data are *** research question during the computational experiments asked whether or not distance measure influence AIS data clustering *** computational experiments have been carried out using original AIS *** general,the experiment and the results confirm the usefulness of the cluster-based analysis when the data include outliers that are derived from the natural *** is also possible to monitor and to analyse AIS data using clustering when the data include *** computational experiment results confirm that the k-means with Euclidean distance has the best performance.
