Extra-Axial Anaplastic Pleomorphic Xanthoastrocytoma Mimicking Meningioma: A Case Report with Literature Review

Background: A number of meningeal neoplastic lesions may radiologically and clinically simulate meningioma, include hemangiopericytomas, solitary fibrous tumors, schwannomas, hematolymphoid lesions, metastases, and others very rarely, also may clinically mimic meningiomas. Case Description: We present the case of A 28-year-old male patient, with no notable medical history, who presented with worsening headaches for 3 months, imbalance, and visual deficits, An initial MRI revealed extra-axial lesion involving the right Parieto-occipital, The tumor was hypointense on T1-weighted MR images, hyperintense signals on T2-weightedMR images, and heterogeneously enhanced suggestive of a meningioma, total resection was achieved, and the histopathological analysis confirmed the diagnosis of an angioblastic meningioma. However, 15 months later, the patient presented with the same initial visual complaints. A subsequent MRI showed lesion recurrence, leading to a second surgical intervention. The histopathological analysis confirmed the diagnosis of an anaplastic xanthoastrocytoma. Conclusion: This represents an unusual location for an anaplastic pleomorphic xanthoastrocytoma, which should broaden the differential diagnosis of extra-axial lesions.

Endoscopic ultrasound(EUS) has revolutionized the diagnostic and therapeutic approach to patients with gastrointestinal disorders. Its application in patients with liver disease and portal hypertension is increasing. Patients with chronic liver disease are at risk for development of portal hypertension sequale such as ascites, spontaneous bacterial peritonitis and gastroesophageal varices. Bleeding esophageal and gastric varices are among the most common causes of mortality in patients with cirrhosis. Thus, early detection and treatment improve the outcome in this population. EUS can improve the detection and diagnosis of gastroesophageal varices and collateral veins and can provide endoscopic therapy of gastroesophageal varices such as EUS-guided sclerotherapy of esophageal collateral vessels and EUS-guided cynoacrylate(Glue) injection of gastric varices. EUS can also provide knowledge on the efficacy of pharmacotherapy of portal hypertension. Furthermore, EUS can provide assessment and prediction of variceal recurrence after endoscopic therapy and assessment of portal hemodynamics such as E-Flow and Doppler study of the azygous and portal veins. Moreover, EUS-guided fine needle aspiration may provide cytologic diagnosis of focal hepatic tumors andanalysis of free abdominal *** specialized EUSguided needle biopsy,a sample of liver tissue can be obtained to diagnose and evaluate for chronic liver ***-guided fine needle injection can be used to study portal vein pressure and hemodynamics,and potentially could be used to assist in exact measurement of portal vein pressure and placement of intrahepatic portosystemic shunt.

The vibrations behavior analysis is an essential step in the mechanical design *** methods such as analytical modelling,numerical analysis and experimental measurements can be used for this ***,the numerical or analytical models should be validated through experimental measurements,usually *** paper introduces an inexpensive smartphone as an accurate,non-intrusive vibrations’behavior measurement *** experimental measurement procedure based on the video processing method is *** procedure allows the measurement of the natural frequencies and the mode shapes of a vibrating structure,simply by using a smartphone built-in *** experimental results are compared to those obtained using an accurate analytical model,where the natural frequencies error is less than 2.7%and the modal assurance criterion is higher than *** order to highlight the obtained results,a comparison has been done using a high quality and high frame per second(fps)camera-based measurement of material *** the highest recovered natural frequency and its associated mode shape depend on the frame per second rate of the recorded video,this procedure has great potential in low frequencies problems such as for big structures like buildings and *** validated technique re-introduces the personal smartphone as an accurate inexpensive non-contacting vibration measurement tool.

Esophageal carcinoma affects more than 450000people worldwide and the incidence is rapidly *** the United States and Europe,esophageal adenocarcinoma has superseded esophageal squamous cell carcinoma in its *** cancer has a high mortality rates secondary to the late presentation of most patients at advanced *** screening is recommended for patients with multiple risk factors for cancer in Barrett’s *** risk factors include chronic gastroesophageal reflux disease,hiatal hernia,advanced age,male sex,white race,cigarette smoking,and *** annual risk of esophageal cancer is approximately 0.25%for patients without dysplasia and 6%for patients with high-grade *** percent of all esophageal adenocarcinoma in the United States is early stage with disease confined to the mucosa or *** significant morbidity and mortality of esophagectomy make endoscopic treatment an attractive *** American Gastroenterological Association recommends endoscopic eradication therapy for patients with high-grade *** modalities for treatment of early esophageal adenocarcinoma include endoscopic resection techniques and endoscopic ablative techniques such as radiofrequency ablation,photodynamic therapy and *** therapy should be precluded to patients with no evidence of lymphovascular *** tumor recurrence is low after endoscopic therapy and is predicted by poor differentiation of tumor,positive lymph node and submucosal *** resection should be offered to patients with deep submucosal invasion.

Endoscopic ultrasound(EUS)-guided fine needle aspira-tion(FNA) of the liver is a safe procedure in the diag-nosis and staging of hepatobiliary malignancies with a minimal major complication rate. EUS-FNA is useful for liver lesions poorly accessible to other imaging modali-ties of the liver. EUS-guided FNA of biliary neoplasia and malignant biliary stricture is superior to the con-ventional endoscopic brushing and biopsy.

Small scale biodiesel synthesis from waste frying oil and crude methanol in Morocco

Biodiesel was produced at small scale by transesterification of used frying oil（UFO） recovered from Moroccan pastry shops and fish frying restaurants. Biodiesel was first synthesised at laboratory scale in order to optimize the transesterification parameters. The cost of the final product was also optimized using low-cost raw *** UFO and the produced biodiesel were characterized with several techniques including gas chromatography,1H NMR,13 C NMR, FTIR, and TGA–TDA techniques.1H NMR gas chromatographic analyses of the final product confirmed that the transesterification in the chosen experimental conditions was completed. These results were confirmed by TGA–TDA analysis used as new techniques to monitoring triglyceride conversion. The biodiesel did not contain any trace of glycerol, and it did meet the international standards. The transesterification at low cost in small scale conditions was performed at 60 ℃ using 1.2% of KOH and a methanol/oil molar ratio of 6：1. A yield of 80.8% was achieved. The properties of the produced biodiesel were found to be as good as those of biodiesels obeying to European standards. The biodiesel production was also performed at small-scale for individual utilisation. Thus, the product was tested in a kerosene stove for heating and non-modified commercial diesel engine producing electricity.

Effect of adding natural pozzolana on geotechnical properties of lime-stabilized clayey soil

Clayey soils in Syria cover a total area of more than 20,000 km2 of the country, most of which are located in the southwestern region. In many places of the country, the clayey soils caused severe damage to infrastructures. Extensive studies have been carried out on the stabilization of clayey soils using lime. Syria is rich in both lime and natural pozzolana. However, few works have been conducted to investigate the influence of adding natural pozzolana on the geotechnical properties of lime-treated clayey soils. The aim of this paper is to understand the effect of adding natural pozzolana on some geotechnical properties of lime-stabilized clayey soils. Natural pozzolana and lime are added to soil within the range of 0%–20% and 0%–8%, respectively. Consistency, compaction, California bearing ratio （CBR） and linear shrinkage properties are particularly investigated. The test results show that the investigated properties of lime-treated clayey soils can be considerably enhanced when the natural pozzolana is added as a stabilizing agent. Analysis results of scanning electron microscopy （SEM） and energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy （EDX） show significant changes in the microstructure of the treated clayey soil. A better flocculation of clayey particles and further formation of cementing materials in the natural pozzolana-lime-treated clayey soil are clearly observed.

The assessment of the thermal energy performance of earth-based buildings with respect to the semi-arid Mediter-ranean climate of Morocco is scarce,even if the country is historically known for its earthen *** to this need,this work aims to understand and evaluate the indoor thermal comfort and energy performances of passive building in two different *** have used EnergyPlus modeling tool and in addition,the moni-tored ten-day indoor temperatures in two different thermal zones in the test prototype to justify the empirical validation of Building Energy *** findings demonstrate,the use of compressed earth blocks coupled with passive design strategies provides better comfort and great ***,the summer discomfort hours are reduced about 12%for both cities compared to conventional ***,the combination of semi-arid climate-responsive passive design has allowed to reach a thermal energy intensity reduction difference from 20 to 65 kWh.m^(-2).y^(-1).
