Purpose The Large Hadron collider(LHc)at European Organization for Nuclear Research is planned to be upgraded to the high luminosity *** the luminosity makes muon triggering reliable and ofﬂine reconstruction very *** enhance the redundancy of the compact Muon Solenoid(cMS)Muon system and resolve the ambiguity of track reconstruction in the forward region,an improved Resistive Plate chamber(iRPc)with excellent time resolution will be installed in the Phase-2 cMS *** iRPc will be equipped with Front-End Electronics(FEE),which can perform high-precision time measurements of signals from both ends of the *** Back-End Electronics(BEE)need to be researched and developed to provide sophisticated functionalities such as interacting with FEE with shared links for fast,slow control(Sc)and data,in addition to trigger primitives(TPs)generation and data acquisition(DAQ).Method The BEE prototype uses a homemade hardware board compatible with the MTcA standard,the back-end board(BEB).BEE interacts with FEE via a bidirectional 4.8 Gbps optical paired-link that integrates clock,data,and control *** clock and fast/slow control commands are distributed from BEB to the FEE via the *** uplink is used for BEB to receive the time information of the iRPc’sﬁred strips and the responses to the fast/slow control *** have a pipelined detector data for clusterﬁnding operation,recover(deMux)the time relationship of which is changed due to the transmission protocol for the continuous incoming MUXed data from *** at each bunch crossing(BX),clusteringﬁred strips that satisfy time and spatial constraints to generate *** incoming raw MUXed detector data and TPs in a time window and latency based on the trigger signal are read out to the DAQ *** Ethernet(GbE)of SiTcP and commercial 10-GbE are used as link standards for Sc and DAQ,respectively,for the BEB to interact with the *** The joint test results of

AIM To evaluate bacterial resistance to clarithromycin and fluoroquinolones in Brazil using molecular *** The primary antibiotic resistance rates of Helicobacter pylori(H. pylori) were determined from November 2012 to March 2015 in the Southern,South-Eastern,Northern,North-Eastern,and central-Western regions of Brazil. Four hundred ninety H. pylori patients [66% female,mean age 43 years(range: 18-79)] who had never been previously treated for this infection were enrolled. All patients underwent gastroscopy with antrum and corpus biopsies and molecular testing using Geno Type Helico DR(Hain Life Science,Germany). This test was performed to detect the presence of H. pylori and to identify point mutations in the genes responsible for clarithromycin and fluoroquinolone resistance. The molecular procedure was divided into three steps: DNA extraction from the biopsies,multiplex amplification,and reverse hybridization. RESULTS clarithromycin resistance was found in 83(16.9%) patients,and fluoroquinolone resistance was found in 66(13.5%) patients. There was no statistical difference in resistance to either clarithromycin or fluoroquinolones(P = 0.55 and P = 0.06,respectively) among the different regions of Brazil. Dual resistance to clarithromycin and fluoroquinolones was found in 4.3%(21/490) of patients. The A2147 G mutation was present in 90.4%(75/83),A2146 G in 16.9%(14/83) and A2146 c in 3.6%(3/83) of clarithromycin-resistant patients. In 10.8%(9/83) of clarithromycin-resistant samples,more than 01 mutation in the 23 S r RNA gene was noticed. In fluoroquinolone-resistant samples,37.9%(25/66) showed mutations not specified by the Geno Type Helico DR test. D91 N mutation was observed in 34.8%(23/66),D91 G in 18.1%(12/66),N87 K in 16.6%(11/66) and D91 Y in 13.6%(9/66) of cases. Among fluoroquinolone-resistant samples,37.9%(25/66) showed mutations not specified by the Geno Type Helico DR test. cONcLUSION The H. pylori clarithromycin resistance rate in Brazil is

Technological insights:combined impedance manometry for esophageal motility testing-current results and further implications

This review focuses on current aspects of the novel technology of combined impedance manometry for esophageal motility testing. It presents methodological features, summarizes current results and discusses implications for further research. The combined technique assesses simultaneously bolus transport and associated peristalsis, thus allowing detailed analysis of the relationships between bolus transit and esophageal motility. Recent studies demonstrate that combined impedance manometry provides important additional information about esophageal motility as compared to conventional manometry: (1) monitoring of bolus transport patterns, (2) calculation of bolus transit parameters, (3) evaluation of bolus clearance, (4) monitoring of swallow associated events such as air movement and reflux, and (5) investigation of the relationships between bolus transit and LES relaxation. Studies with healthy subjects have identified several useful parameters for comprehensive assessment of eosphageal function. These parameters were found to be pathological in patients with classical achalasia, mild GERD, and ineffective esophageal motility. The technology of combined impedance manometry provides an important new tool for esophageal function testing, advancing both clinical and basic research. However, several important issues remain to be standardized to make the technique suitable for widely clinical use.

Release Profile of Lansoprazole Encapsulated in Sodium Alginate Beads

Symptomatic gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) affects 11% of the population worldwide. Lansoprazole was the second commercially available proton pump inhibitor, recommended for healing and symptomatic relief of reflux esophagitis. This work presents the encapsulation of lansoprazole in sodium alginate beads, generating a controlled release system of the encapsulated drug. The quantification of lansoprazole contents from the encapsulated raw material was carried out, using the methodology prescribed in the Brazilian Pharmacopoeia 5th edition, with adjustments, the encapsulation efficiency and the release profile. Experimental tests were performed using scanning UV-Vis spectrophotometry. Encapsulation efficiency was 100%, obtained from the measurement of the absorbance of the filtrate. Release profile shows the concentration of lansoprazole in the external environment was 4 μg/mL (16%) immediately after 10 min. concentration of lansoprazole released by the beads follows a linear dynamic as a function of time, with a maximum release equivalent to 25 μg/mL after 210 min (100%). The rate of release is influenced by pH, being higher by 7.4. Beads subjected to heat treatment have a higher release rate at a temperature of 30 °c when compared to a temperature of 60 °c. Increase in temperature decreases the diameter of the beads. The presence of lansoprazole affects the release curve. The absorption rate of the microbeads with lansoprazole is 0.83, and the absorption rate of the microbeads without lansoprazole is 0.58. Sodium alginate beads have a good controlled release effect on lansoprazole.

Performance and Ruminal characteristics of Beef cattle Fed Four Different Hybrids Sorghum Silages

This study was conducted to evaluate the intake, total and partial digestibility of nutrient, ruminal pH and ammonia concentration, microbial protein synthesis and performance in crossbred Holstein ? Zebu cattle fed four different hybrids sorghum silages (1F305, XBF60329, BRS610, Volumax). In Experiment 1, four rumen and abomasum fistulated steers, 400 ± 80 kg, distributed in a 4 ? 4 Latin Square, were used. In Experiment 2, 28 crossbred Holstein ? Zebu steers, 350 ± 50 kg, distributed in a randomized block design with four treatments and seven replicates, were used. In Experiment 1, it was observed that nutrient intake, as well as total, ruminal and intestinal digestibility of nutrient, were not affected (P > 0.05) by diets, except for total apparent digestibility of neutral detergent fiber (NDFap), which was lower for the BRS610 hybrid. There was lower NDFap ingestion in animals that received a diet containing silage from the BRS610 hybrid, however, the lowest intake non-fibrous carbohydrates (NFc) was observed for the diet containing silage from the Volumax hybrid. In Experiment 2, nutrient intake were not affected by the diets (P > 0.05), whereas, NDFap intake was lesser for hybrid BRS610. It was found that daily weight gain and feed conversion were not affected by different silages diets. Therefore, it may be concluded that the diets used were nutritionally equivalent, as they promoted similar animal performance without affecting ruminal parameters.

AIM:To analyze the role of rs12979860 and rs8099917polymorphisms in hepatitis c virus(HcV)genotype 1infection of ***:A total of 145 adult patients diagnosed with genotype 1 chronic hepatitis c(cHc)who had completed a 48-wk regimen of pegylated-interferonα-2a or-2b plus ribavirin combination therapy were recruited from six large urban healthcare centers and199 healthy blood donors(controls)from a single site between January 2010 and January *** on the patients’response to treatment was *** chain reaction-restriction fragment length polymorphism genotyping of the interleukin(IL)28B gene fragment encompassing the single nucleotide polymorphisms(SNPs)rs12979860(c/T)and rs8099917(T/G)was carried out for 79 of the cHc patients and 199 of the ***-directional amplicon sequencing of the two SNPs was carried out for the remaining 66 cHc ***:SNP rs12979860 genotyping was successful in 99.5%of the controls and 97.2%of the cHc patients,whereas the SNP rs8099917 genotyping was successful in 95.5%of the controls and 100%of the cHc *** genotype and allele distributions for both rs12979860 and rs8099917 were significantly different between the control and cHc patient groups,with significantly higher genotype frequencies of cc and TT in the controls(P=0.037 and 0.046,respectively)and of TT and GG in the cHc patients(P=0.0009and 0.0001,respectively).Analysis of the cHc patients who achieved sustained virological response(SVR)to treatment(n=55)indicated that the rs12979860 c allele and cc genotype were predictors of SVR(P=0.02).No significant correlation was found between rs8099917 genotypes and treatment response,but carriers of the T allele showed significantly higher rates of SVR(P=0.02).Linkage disequilibrium analysis of the group that achieved SVR showed a significant association between rs12979860 and rs8099917(P=0.07).cONcLUSION:The higher allele frequency of rs12979860 c and rs8099917 T observed in non-HcVinfec

Hydrolysis of Banana Tree Pseudostem and Second-Generation Ethanol Production by Saccharomyces cerevisae

The alcoholic fermentation of substrates rich in free soluble sugars is well known and has been industrially developed. However, the production of second-generation ethanol from lignocellulosic biomass, which is abundantly available worldwide, remains under development. The aim of this study was to evaluate the possibility of using the Musa cavendischii banana tree pseudostem as a substrate for alcoholic fermentation. Hydrolisis methods using dilute sulfuric acid (1% and 2% H2SO4; 15 and 30 min; 90 oc, 100 oc and 120 oc) and enzymes (pH 5.5; and 45 °c for 24 h reaction time) were evaluated both separately and in combination. The effect of chemical pre-treatment of the substrate using 1% and 3% m/m NaOH (120 oc, 15 min) was verified for both methods. The highest yield coefficient of fermentable sugars from dry biomass (YTS = 74%) was obtained using enzymatic hydrolysis and pre-treatment with 3% NaOH. Using acid hydrolysis, the maximum yield obtained was 22% (1% H2SO4, 120 oc, 30 min). Fermentation of the hydrolysates was satisfactory, and the maximum yield of ethanol formed per unit of substrate consumed, total productivity and efficiency values were 0.35 g, 0.90 g ethanol L-1·h-1 and 65.9%, respectively. This demonstrates the utility of banana tree pseudostems in second-generation ethanol production.
