Aims Plants play an important role in ecosystem *** meaning of trait variation in wide environmental gradients is well known but is scarcely known across narrow *** analyze the variation of morphological,physical and chemical traits of dom-inant plant species and the potential rates of dry mass loss and N release/immobilization during senesced leaf decomposition of these species across a narrow aridity gradient,and to identify indicative traits useful to set species functional groups sharing decomposition *** We analyzed the variation of morphological,physical and chemical traits(specific leaf area,seed mass,N and soluble phenols in green and senesced leaves,plant height)in dominant plant species at 12 sites across an aridity gradient in northern Patagonia,*** collected senesced leaves of each plant species at each site and used them to estimate the poten-tial rates of dry mass loss and N release/immobilization from decomposing senesced leaves in a microcosm *** analyzed the variation of plant traits and decomposition rates across the aridity *** grouped plants species accord-ing to growth forms(perennial grasses,deciduous shrubs,ever-green shrubs)and different combinations of morpho-physical and chemical traits of green and senesced leaves and compared the potential rates of dry mass loss and N release/immobiliza-tion during leaf decomposition among these groups delimited by each grouping *** Findings Plant traits did not vary across the aridity *** potential rate of dry mass loss was positively related to aridity,while the potential rate of N release/immobilization did not vary across the *** species by separately morpho-physical and chemical traits resulted in a large overlapping in mean values of decomposition rates among *** contrast,plant groupings based on growth forms and those including all morpho-physical and chemical traits of green or senesced le

New rotative radiofrequency Technology: A Multicenter retrospective Study on Efficacy and Safety

background: Non-ablative radiofrequency (rF) technology is widely used for the treatment of signs of aging, skin laxity, localized fat and cellulite. However, many rF devices suffer from technical limitations that make the results highly dependent on the user’s experience or clinical limitations that compromise safety, efficacy and comfort. Objective: To evaluate the efficacy and safety of a novel semi-automatic non-ablative rF device for skin tightening, body shaping and cellulite reduction. Materials and methods: A retrospective multicenter study was performed using a novel rotative rF device with temperature and impedance control (Sculpt&Shape®, Sinclair, Spain). 58 subjects underwent a minimum of 4 treatments every 1-2 weeks. A total of 120 treatments (56.7% body and 43.3% facial) and 1034 sessions were performed. Efficacy was evaluated by 3 researchers using the Global Aesthetic improvement Scale (GAiS) and anthropometric measurements were collected. Subject and practitioner satisfaction were recorded. Safety was evaluated by analyzing the perception of pain during the treatment and the side and adverse effects immediately after treatment and over the next 48 hours. results: between 25% and 50% improvement was achieved according to the GAiS. Statistically significant (p bdominal fold reduction of 5.1 mm and circumference reduction of 32.0 mm, 16.4 mm and 13.9 mm were recorded for the abdomen, legs and arms, respectively. 77.5% of subjects and 94.9% of practitioners were either satisfied or very satisfied. Minor adverse effects were found in 0.97% of the sessions. Conclusion: This novel semi-automatic rotative rF device has been found to provide treatments that are effective, safe and comfortable for both practitioners and subjects. .

Tandem pore TWiK-related potassium channels and neuroprotection

TWiK-related potassium channels (TrEK) belong to a subfamily of the two-pore domain potassium channels family with three members, TrEK1, TrEK2 and TWiK-related arachidonic acid-activated potassium channels. The two-pore domain potassium channels is the last big family of channels being discovered, therefore it is not surprising that most of the information we know about TrEK channels predominantly comes from the study of heterologously expressed channels. Notw让hstanding, in this review we pay special attention to the limited amount of information available on native TrEK-like channels and real neurons in relation to neuroprotection. Mainly we focus on the role of free fatty acids, lysophospholipids and other neuroprotective agents like riluzole in the modulation of TrEK channels, emphasizing on how important this modulation may be for the development of new therapies against neuropathic pain, depression, schizophrenia, epilepsy, ischemia and cardiac complications.

Harvesting of Mouse Embryos at 0.5 Dpc as a Tool to reduce Animal Use: Data from C57bL/6J, b6*129 and FVb/NJ Strains

Superovulation is used to stimulate the production and release of large amounts of oocytes in mice by using two hormones that mimic FSH (PMSG) and LH (hCG) effects. Since superovulation can have a negative impact on oocyte and embryo development, this investigation aimed to compare two alternatives for 2-cells embryo collection in order to reduce the number of females and to benefit from the superovulation process. Data from mouse embryo collection from our facility was analyzed to compare the number of 2-cells embryos collected at 1.5 dpc and the number of 2-cells embryos obtained after overnight incubation of 1-cell embryos, collected at 0.5 dpc. Genetically modified mouse strains with a similar background (C57bL/6J, b6*129 and FVb/NJ) were analyzed and for strains at a C57bL/6J and b6*129 background, the number of 2-cells embryos obtained after incubation was significantly higher when compared to the number of 2-cells embryos collected at 1.5 dpc (1.4-fold and 1.7-fold, respectively). C57bL/6J wild type mice had similar results with a higher number of 2-cells embryos when collection was performed at 0.5 dpc followed by incubation (1.4-fold). These results can help the planning of 2-cells embryo harvesting by reducing the number of females needed for this procedure.

After the Second World War, the US dollar had become the world’s dominant payment mechanism for international trade transactions;in Latin America, politicians developed an alternative to replace this method of payment:SUCrE （Unified System for regional Compensation）. These politicians promote SUCrE mentioning the benefits it has, this thesis verifies whether these politicians tell the truth or lie. but nevertheless, the main purpose of this thesis is to analyze quantitatively if SUCrE brings or not benefits for the bolivian External Sector during2012;the process to achieve this goal is carried out by collecting the exiting data and information, using accounting interpretation, statistics, equation solving and arithmetical calculations;in this way, it will be measured whether SUCrE improved or worsened the reserve Assets, the seigniorage level （US dollar seigniorage will be calculated with the Standard Method）, and the procedures for the importer. Summarizing the content, throughout the thesis;it will be understood how SUCrE works;the benefits it has for the bolivian External Sector;the challenges and recommendations for the regional Monetary Council, bolivian government, exporters and importers;and the resulting positive conclusion.

New approaches to identification and characterization of tioconazole in raw material and in pharmaceutical dosage forms

Tioconazole(TCZ), a broad-spectrum antifungal agent, has significant activity against Candida albicans and other Candida species, and therefore, it is indicated for the topical treatment of superficial *** main goal of this work is to report an exhaustive identification and characterization procedure to improve and facilitate the online quality control and continuous process monitoring of TCZ in bulk material and loaded in two different dosage forms: ovules and nail lacquer. The methodologies were based on thermal(differential scanning calorimetry(DSC), melting point, and thermogravimetry(TG)),spectroscopic(ultraviolet(UV), raman, near infrared(Nir), infrared spectroscopy coupled to attenuated total reflectance(FTir-ATr), and nuclear magnetic resonance(NMr)), microscopic and X-ray diffraction(XrD). The TCZ bulk powder showed a high crystallinity, as observed by XrD, with a particles size distribution(3–95 mm) resolved by microscopic measurements. TCZ melting point(82.8 °C) and a degradation peak centered at 297.8 °C were obtained by DSC and DTG, respectively. An unambiguous structure elucidation of TCZ was obtained by mono-and two-dimensional1 H and13 C NMr spectral data analysis. The FTir-ATr, raman and Nir spectra of both the raw material and the commercial products were analyzed and their characteristic bands were tabulated. The best methods for TCZ identification in ovules were DSC, TG, XrD, Nir and raman, while Nir and FTir-ATr were the most appropriate techniques to analyze it in the nail lacquer. DSC, TG, DrX, raman, FTir-ATr and Nir spectroscopy are effective techniques to be used in online process analysis, because they do not require sample preparation, and they are considerably sensitive to analyze complex samples.

impact of train speed on the mechanical behaviours of track-bed materials

For the 30,000 km long French conventional railway lines(94% of the whole network),the train speed is currently limited to 220 km/h,whilst the speed is 320 km/h for the 1800 km long high-speed ***,there is a growing need to improve the services by increasing the speed limit for the conventional *** paper aims at studying the influence of train speed on the mechanical behaviours of track-bed materials based on field monitoring *** is put on the behaviours of interlayer and subgrade *** selected experimental site is located in Vierzon,*** sensors including accelerometers and soil pressure gauges were installed at different *** vertical strains of different layers can be obtained by integrating the records of accelerometers installed at different trackbed *** experimentation was carried out using an intercity test train running at different speeds from 60 km/h to 200 km/*** test train was composed of a locomotive(22.5 Mg/axle) and 7 'Corail'coaches(10.5 Mg/axle).it was observed that when the train speed was raised,the loadings transmitted to the track-bed ***,the response of the track-bed materials was amplified by the speed rise at different depths:the vertical dynamic stress was increased by about 10% when the train speed was raised from 60 km/h to 200 km/h for the locomotive loading,and the vertical strains doubled their quasistatic values in the shallow ***,the stressestrain paths were estimated using the vertical stress and strain for each train *** loading paths allowed the resilient modulus Mrto be *** was found that the resilient modulus(M_r) was decreased by about 10% when the train speed was increased from 100 km/h to 200 km/***,the damping ratio(D_r) kept stable in the range of speeds explored.

A Simple Electrocardiographic Predictor of Early recovery of Left Ventricular Function in Stress Cardiomyopathy

Objective: To identify electrocardiographic parameters that predict extent of early improvement in ejection fraction (EF) in patients with stress cardiomyopathy. Methods: We collected baseline clinical, ECG and imaging data and follow up echocardiography data on 30 consecutive patients with stress cardiomyopathy. The relationship between baseline ECG parameters and Delta EF was evaluated by univariate and multivari.ble analysis. results: Median EF improved from 35% to 55% (p ive correlation with number of leads with T inversion (p = 0.01) and QT interval (p = 0.02). The number of leads with T inversion was independently associated with Delta EF (coefficient ?4.878, p = 0.04). Conclusion: The number of leads with T wave inversion is negatively correlated with and is an independent predictor of the extent of early improvement of EF in patients with stress cardiomyopathy. Hence the ECG at initial presentation can be used as a simple tool to predict LV function recovery.
