w. report a theory of thermal spin pumping into proximity magnets under a transverse-bias-driven heat flow.of magnons in magnetic films w.en the dipolar coupling to the magnetic gate is tuned to be “chiral”. w.ile there is no rectification of the magnon current in the film, w. predict that chirality diverts a large percentage(50% for perfect chirality) of it into the gate. This transverse thermal spin pumping effect can be controlled by rotating the film magnetization and may help manage the heat flow.in future magnonic circuits.

The Nutri-Score is a 5-color front-of-pack nutrition label designed to provide consumers w.th an easily understandable guideline to the healthiness of food *** impact that the Nutri-Score may have on consumers'choices is unclear since different experimental paradigms have found vastly different effect *** the present study,w. have investigated how.student participants change a hypothetical personal 1-daydietary plan after a learning phase during w.ich they learn about the Nutri-Scores of the available food *** w.re instructed to compose a healthy diet plan in order that the question of w.ether the NutriScore w.uld improve their ability to compose a healthy dietary plan could be investigated,independent of the question of w.ether they w.uld apply this know.edge in their ordinary *** found a substantial(Cohen's d=0.86)positive impact on nutritional quality(as measured by the Nutrient Profiling System score of the Food Standards Agency)and a medium-sized(Cohen's d=0.43)reduction of energy *** content reduction w.s larger for participants w.o had initially composed plans w.th higher energy *** results suggest that the Nutri-Score has the potential to guide consumers to healthier food *** remains unclear,how.ver,w.ether this potential w.ll be reflected in real-life dietary choices.

As government agencies continue to tighten emissions regulations due to the continued increase in greenhouse gas production, automotive industries are seeking to produce increasingly efficient vehicle technology. Hybrid electric vehicles (HEVs) have been introduced to mitigate problems w.ile improving fuel economy. HEVs have led to the demand of creating more advanced controls softw.re to consider multiple components for propulsive pow.r in a vehicle. A large section in the softw.re development process is the implementation of an optimal energy management strategy meant to improve the overall fuel efficiency of the vehicle. Optimal strategies can be implemented w.en driving conditions are know. a prior. The Equivalent Consumption Minimization Strategy (ECMS) is an optimal control strategy that uses an equivalence factor to equate electrical to mechanical pow.r w.en performing torque split determination betw.en the internal combustion engine and electric motor for propulsive and regenerative torque. This equivalence factor is determined from offline vehicle simulations using a sensitivity analysis to provide optimal fuel economy results w.ile maintaining predetermined high voltage battery state of charge (SOC) constraints. w.en the control hierarchy is modified or different driving styles are applied, the analysis must be redone to update the equivalence factor. The goal of this w.rk is to implement a fuzzy logic controller that dynamically updates the equivalence factor to improve fuel economy, maintain a strict charge sustaining w.ndow.of operation for the high voltage battery, and reduce computational time required during algorithm development. The adaptive algorithm is validated against global optimum fuel economy and charge sustaining results from a sensitivity analysis performed for multiple drive cycles. Results show.a maximum fuel economy improvement of 9.82% w.en using a mild driving style and a 95% success rate w.en maintaining an ending SOC w.thin 5% of th

bACKGROUND Tobacco use is a w.ll-documented modifiable risk factor for perioperative *** To determine the tobacco abstinence rates of patients w.o made cessation efforts prior to a total joint arthroplasty(TJA)*** A retrospective evaluation w.s performed on 88 self-reported tobacco users w.o underw.nt TJA betw.en 2014-2022 and had tobacco cessation dates w.thin 3 mo of *** patients w.re contacted via phone survey to understand their tobacco use pattern,and patient reported outcomes.A total of 37 TJA patients *** Our cohort w.s on average 61-years-old,60%(n=22)w.men,w.th an average body mass index of 30 kg/m^(2).The average follow.up time w.s 2.9±1.9 years.A total of 73.0%(n=27)of patients endorsed complete abstinence from tobacco use prior to *** cessation methods w.re used perioperatively including prescription therapy(13.5%),over the counter nicotine replacement(18.9%),cessation programs(5.4%).At final follow.up,43.2%(n=16)of prior tobacco smokers reported complete *** w.o w.re able to maintain cessation postoperatively had improved Patient-Reported Outcomes Measurement Information System(PROMIS)-10 mental health scores(49 vs 58;P=0.01),and hip dysfunction and osteoarthritis outcome score for joint replacement(***)scores(63 vs 82;P=0.02).No patients in this cohort had a prosthetic joint infection or required revision *** w. report a tobacco cessation rate of 43.2%in patients undergoing elective TJA nearly 3 years *** undergoing TJA w.o w.re able to remain abstinent had improved PROMIS-10 mental health scores and *** *** perioperative period provides clinicians a unique opportunity to assist active tobacco smokers w.th cessation efforts and improve postoperative outcomes.
