An Overview of Sustainable Agricultural Waste Practices of West Texas

This article returns to the topic of sustainability. West Texas, mainly known for its cotton and cattle production, is facing problems related to the dispensation of agricultural waste produced by these operations. The article looks at the ways of handling agricultural waste and the opportunities of dispensing it in West Texas. Since between 30 - 40 percent of food produced in the US is not consumed, reduction of food waste is another sustainability problem that, when solved, would lead to the reduction of agricultural production and, in turn, the reduction of agricultural waste. Waste reduction management practices of large food chain stores in West Texas are discussed, with a final goal of bringing waste to a zero level. Public sources of sustainable agricultural and non-agricultural waste handling are also mentioned. This research adds to the previous knowledge on sustainability by discussing agricultural waste practices of a specific local area, i.e. West Texas.

A substantial amount of the Indian economy depends solely on ***,on the other hand,plays a significant role in agriculture–while an adequate amount of rainfall can be considered as a blessing,if the amount is inordinate or scant,it can ruin the entire hard work of the *** this work,the rainfall dataset of the Vellore region,of Tamil Nadu,India,in the years 2021 and 2022 is forecasted using several machine learning *** engineering has been performed in this work in order to generate new features that remove all sorts of autocorrelation present in the *** removal of autocorrelation,the data could be used for performing operations on the time-series data,which otherwise could only be performed on any other regular regression *** work uses forecasting techniques like the AutoRegessive Integrated Moving Average(ARIMA)and exponential smoothening,and then the time-series data is further worked on using Long Short Term Memory(LSTM).Later,regression techniques are used by manipulating the *** work is benchmarked with several evaluation metrics on a test dataset,where XGBoost Regression technique outperformed the *** uniqueness of this work is that it forecasts the daily rainfall for the year 2021 and 2022 in Vellore *** work can be extended in the future to predict rainfall over a bigger region based on previously recorded time-series data,which can help the farmers and common people to plan accordingly and take precautionary measures.

Controlled Wettability of Polymers via Environmental Crazing

This work highlights the benefits of environmental crazing for the control over the hydrophilic-lipophilic balance of glassy amorphous and semicrystalline polymers:poly(ethylene terephthalate)(PET)and biodegradable polycaprolactone(PCL).Task-oriented encapsulation of diverse commercial and natural hydrophilic(polyethyleneoxide,polyvinylpyrrolidone,gelatin)and hydrophobic guest additives(perfluoroorgano siloxanes,water-repellent impregnation)into mesoporous host polymer(PET,PCL)matrixes allows targeted control over the wettability of the resultant nanocomposite *** on the nature of the guest additive,the properties of the modified polymers can be varied from hydrophilic to hydrophobic:contact angle(CA)of PET can be adjusted from 47_(⊥)/38_(||)to 130_(⊥)/117_(||)°(for initial PET,CA=82°)and CA of PCL from 40°to 114°(for initial PCL CA=75°).The unique benefits of environmental crazing for structural modification are related to the universal character of this approach which can be applied to a broad range of polymers and allows preparation of diverse high-performance materials with tunable hydrophilic-lipophilic balance.

This paper uses Covasim,an agent-based model(ABM)of COVID-19,to evaluate and scenarios of epidemic spread in New York State(USA)and the *** parameters such as contagiousness(virus transmission rate),initial number of infected people,and probability of being tested depend on the region's demographic and geographical features,the containment measures introduced;they are calibrated to data about COVID-19 spread in the region of *** the first stage of our study,epidemiological data(numbers of people tested,diagnoses,critical cases,hospitalizations,and deaths)for each of the mentioned regions were *** data were characterized in terms of seasonality,stationarity,and dependency spaces,and were extrapolated using machine learning techniques to specify unknown epidemiological parameters of the *** the second stage,the Optuna optimizer based on the tree Parzen estimation method for objective function minimization was applied to determine the model's unknown *** model was validated with the historical data of *** modeled results of COVID-19 spread in New York State and the UK have demonstrated that if the level of testing and containment measures is preserved,the number of positive cases in New York State remain the same during March of 2021,while in the UK it will reduce.

We study the initial value problem of the Helmholtz equation with spatially variable wave number. We show that it can be stabilized by suppressing the evanescent waves. The stabilized Helmholtz equation can be solved numerically by a marching scheme combined with FFT. The resulting algorithm has complexity n^2 log n on a n x n grid. We demonstrate the efficacy of the method by numerical examples with caustics. For the Maxwell equation the same treatment is possible after reducing it to a second order system. We show how the method can be used for inverse problems arising in acoustic tomography and microwave imaging.

In agriculture,LED light sources have increasingly replaced the standard luminescent lamps and have acquired an important role in plant *** studied the effect of different light sources such as narrow-band LEDs(bright blue,blue,green,yellow,deep red,and red)and wide-band LEDs(cold white,white,warm white,full spectrum,and an artificial solar spectrum sun box constructed by us)on development of potato plantlets in *** luminescent lamps were used as a *** light intensity of 49μmol·m^(-2)·s^(-1)was provided in all light *** showed that the long-wave narrow-band light treatments were inapplicable for potato micropropagation,because plantlets were weak with small leaves,inhibited roots,and significantly elongated *** lights provided growth of shortened plantlets with large leaves,well-growing roots,and abundant green *** chlorophyll content was lower under blue and bright blue light and was at the same level in the remained *** differences in the stomatal apparatus development were observed depending on the light *** differences were not always reflected in the plantlet phenotype:e.g.,plantlets under blue and bright blue lights showed no differences in any characteristics except stomatal density and size of stomatal guard *** found no significant effect of blue light portion in the white lights and full spectrum on plantlet *** artificial solar spectrum sun box was the most suitable for potato micropropagation,because it supported the development of plantlets with good fitness,uniform internodes length,abundant roots and green mass accumulation.

Objective:This study aimed to develop expert fuzzy logic model to assist physicians in the prediction of postoperative complications of prostatic hyperplasia before ***:A method for classification of surgical risks was *** effect of rotation of the current–voltage characteristics at biologically active points(acupuncture points)was used for the formation of classifier *** effect determined reversible and non-reversible changes in electrical resistance at acupuncture points with periodic exposure to a sawtooth probe ***,the developed method was tested on the prediction of the success of surgical treatment of benign prostatic ***:Input descriptors were obtained from collected data including current-voltage characteristics of 5 acupuncture points and composed of 27 arrays feeding in the *** maximum diagnostic sensitivity of the classifier for the success of a surgical operation in the control sample was 88%and for testing data set prediction accuracy was 97%.Conclusion:The use of tuples of current-voltage characteristic descriptors of acupuncture points in the classifiers could be used to predict the success of surgical treatment with satisfactory *** model can be a valuable tool to support physicians’diagnosis.

BACKGROUND Bradyarrhythmias are typically treated with permanent pacemakers(PM). The elimination of bradyarrhythmia by PM implantation improves the patient’s quality of life and prognosis, but it can also result in a number of sequalae. It is still unclear how PM implantation affects the hemostasis system’s parameters and how such parameters relate to different consequences after PM *** To assess the blood coagulation factor activity in PM patients throughout the perioperative *** Patients treated in the Department of Surgical Therapy of Cardiac Arrhythmias and Pacing at the Ryazan State "Regional Clinical Cardiology Dispensary" from April 2020 to December 2021 were included in the study. Before surgery, 7 and 30 d after PM placement, peripheral venous blood samples were withdrawn to measure the level of blood coagulation factor Ⅰ(FⅠ) and the activity of blood coagulation factors Ⅱ(FⅡ), Ⅴ(FⅤ), Ⅶ(FⅦ), Ⅷ(FⅧ), ⅸ(Fⅸ), ⅹ(Fⅹ), Ⅺ(FⅪ), Ⅻ(FⅫ). We used an automatic coagulometer Sysmex CA 660(Sysmex Europe, Germany) and reagents from Siemens(Siemens Healthcare Diagnostics Products GmbH, Germany).RESULTS The study included 146 patients. The activity of factors FⅤ [147.7(102.1-247.55)% vs 103.85(60-161.6)% vs 81.8(67.15-130.65)%, P = 0.002], FⅧ [80.4(60.15-106.25)% vs 70.3(48.5-89.1)% vs 63.7(41.6-88.25)%, P = 0.039], Fⅸ [86.2(70.75-102.95)% vs 75.4(59.2-88.3)% vs 73.9(56.45-93.05)%, P = 0.014], Fⅹ [188.9(99.3-308.18)% vs 158.9(83.3-230)% vs 127.2(95.25-209.35)%, P = 0.022], FⅪ [82.6(63.9-103.6)% vs 69.75(53.8-97.6)% vs 67.3(54.25-98.05)%, P = 0.002], FⅫ [87.6(67.15-102.3)% vs 78.9(63.4-97.05)% vs 81.2(62.15-97.4)%, P < 0.001] decreased at 7 and 30 d after surgery;FⅡ activity [157.9(109.7-245.25)% vs 130(86.8-192.5)% vs 144.8(103.31-185.6)%, P = 0.021] decreased at 7 d and increased at 30 d postoperatively.
