Experimental determination of mechanical properties and short-time creep of AISI 304 stainless steel at elevated temperatures

The high temperature properties of AISI 304 stainless steel were studied. Basic data about the employed experimental equipment, testing procedures, and specimen geometry were given. The experimental setup was used to obtain stress-strain diagrams from tensile tests at room temperature as well as several elevated temperatures. Furthermore, the specimens were subjected to short-time creep tests at various temperatures. Stress levels for creep testing were established as a percentage of yield stress. The results indicate that at lowered temperatures and lower stress levels, AISI 304 stainless steel can be used as a sufficiently creep resistant material.

Novel agroformulations for simultaneous delivery of chemical and biologically active agents to the plants were prepared by encapsulation of Trichoderma viride spores in calcium alginate *** impact of calcium ions concentration on the viability and sporulation of *** spores as well as on the microsphere important physicochemical properties were *** interactions in microspheres are complex including mainly hydrogen bonds and electrostatic *** germination inside matrix and germ tubes penetration out of microspheres revealed calcium alginate microspheres provide a supportive environment for *** *** in physicochemical properties and bioactive agents release behaviour from microspheres were ascribed to the changes in microsphere *** to Korsmeyer-Peppas empirical model revealed the underlying *** release mechanism as anomalous transport kinetics(a combination of two diffusion mechanisms and the Type II transport(polymer swelling and relaxation of the polymeric matrix)).The increasing amount of *** spores in the surrounding medium is closely related to the release from microspheres and *** rate controlling mechanism of calcium release is Fickian diffusion.A decrease in the release rate with increasing calcium ion concentrations is in accordance with the calcium ions effect on the strength of the alginate network *** germination inside microsphere diminished the amount of released calcium ions and slowed release kinetics in comparison with microspheres prepared without *** results indicated investigated agroformulations have a great potential to be used for plant protection and nutrition.

Tunable Super-Structured Fiber Bragg Gratings with Perfect Sequences Based on m-Sequence

Recently, a tunable fiber Bragg grating(FBG) was developed by using stress-responsive colloidal crystals. In this paper, we have simulated the application of these nanoparticles into the super-structured fiber Bragg grating(SSFBG) written with perfect sequences derived from a short maximal-length sequence. A tunable SSFBG will be available to overcome the prohibitive temperature variation of the optical codecs. Nevertheless,we presented a method to implement coherent time spreading optical code-division multiple-access(OCdMA) where a unique code(or perfect sequence) can be reused and mixed with different wavelengths to obtain a tunable wavelength-division multiplexing(WdM)system. In order to maximize the binary throughput, we have selected a unique short maximal-length sequence composed of 7 chips that can be tuned with 7 different optical wavelengths. We found thousands of different tunable combinations that presented power contrast ratios(P/C) higher than 12 dB. When a WdM-OCdMA system used 2 different combinations simultaneously, the perfect binary detection with error correction codes was achieved successfully. The tunable SSFBG with colloidal crystals will be a simple and good alternative choice for fiber-to-the-home(FTTH) communications.
