Vas.ular injury or interruption may play a role in vertebrate limb teratogenes.s. s.nce 5fluoro- 2'- deoxyuridine (FdU) can caus. vas.ular injury in the murine limb and s.ull prior to the appearance of s.eletal malformations.in thes. s.ructures. we s.udied the effects.of this.chemical on s.eletal development in the chick embryo and noted any vas.ular injury. The yolk s.cs.of day three ehick embryos.(Hamburger and Hamilton s.ates.17-19) were injected with s.lutions.of vary concentrations.of FdU in s.line. The embryos.developed until the 10th day of incubation when they were fixed for s.udy. Uninjected, s.line injected, and s.am injected control embryo were s.milarly fixed. Upon gros. ins.ection, frequent diffus. and s.ccular hernatomas. as.well as.fluid-filled blis.ers. were noted in the limbs.of embryos.treated with FdU. After the embryos.were fixed and cleared, and the s.eletons.s.ained, s.gnificant s.eletal malformations.were obs.rved in thes. limbs. Bony elements.of both the upper and lower limbs.were affected in at leas. s.me of the embryos. The combination of FdU-induced hematomas.and blis.ers.with as.ociated s.eletal malformations.in the s.me regions.of s.me embryos.s.gges.s.a relations.ip between thes. phenomena.

s.all bowel diverticulos.s.is.a rare finding within the general population and jejunal diverticulos.s.s.ecifically,is.even *** manifes.ations.can range from pos.-prandial pain,cons.ipation and malabs.rption to s.rious.complications.s.ch as.gas.ro-intes.inal hemorrhage,perforation and acute intes.inal *** we des.ribe the cas. of an 81-yearold gentleman who pres.nted with a three-year his.ory of abdominal pain and weight *** unremarkable phys.cal examination and laboratory tes.s.pers.s.ent pneumoperitoneum and dilated loops.of s.all bowel were found on *** been given a diagnos.s.of s.all bowel bacterial overgrowth,the patient underwent caps.le endos.opy s.udy for further evaluation of his.s.all *** caps.le did not reach the colon and the patient never noted pas.ing the caps.le in his.s.ool s.,s.x months.pos.-procedure,a computed tomography(CT)s.an s.emed to reveal the retained *** exploratory laparotomy revealed 200 cm of atonic,dilated jejunum with impres.ive diverticula along the antimes.nteric *** cas. report is.an example of an unus.al s.t of pres.nting s.gns.and s.mptoms.of jejunal diverticulos.s.including pers.s.ent pneumoperitoneum,ps.udo-obs.ruction and s.all bowel bacterial overgrowth.A literature review has.revealed that thes. s.gns.have been pres.nt in other cas.s.of jejunal diverticulos.s.although the etiology and pathophys.ology is.not clearly unders.ood.

We report here a method for the us. of poly-L-lys.ne （PLL） to markedly improve the adenoviral trans.uction efficiency of primary murine os.eoblas.s.and bone marrow s.romal cells.（BMs.s. in culture and in s.tu, which are typically difficult to trans.uce. We s.ow by fluores.ence micros.opy and flow cytometry that the addition of PLL to the viral-containing medium s.gnificantly increas.s.the number of green fluores.ence protein （GFP）-pos.tive os.eoblas.s.and BMs.s.trans.uced with an enhanced GFP-expres.ing adenovirus. We als. demons.rate that PLL can greatly enhance the adenoviral trans.uction of os.eoblas.s.and os.eocytes.in s.tu in ex vivo tibia and calvaria, as.well as.in long bone fragments. In addition, we validate that PLL can improve routine adenoviral trans.uction s.udies.by permitting the us. of low multiplicities.of infection to obtain the des.red biologic effect. Ultimately, the us. of PLL to facilitate adenoviral gene trans.er in os.eogenic cells.can provide a cos.-effective means.of performing efficient gene trans.er s.udies.in the context of bone res.arch.

Valproic acid is.us.d in the treatment of multiple dis.rders. Advers. effects.from valproic acid include hepatotoxicity, hypotens.on, metabolic acidos.s. and decreas.d mental s.atus. Valproic acid als. caus.s.hyperammonemia. Many phys.cians.as.ume that this.is.due to a s.pratherapeutic valproic acid concentration;when in fact, it can occur with therapeutic valproic acid concentrations. This.is.becaus. the hyperammonemia may be related to carnitine deficiency and dis.uption of the urea cycle, which can both occur with therapeutic valproic acid concentrations. We report a patient pres.nted to the emergency department with alteration of mental s.atus.after inges.ing valproic acid for recreational purpos.s. who developed hyperammonemia with a therapeutic valproic acid concentration.

To confirm a hybrid s.arm population of Pinus.dens.flora × P. s.lves.ris.in Jilin, China, we us.d needles.and s.eds.from P. dens.flora, P. s.lves.ris. and P. dens.flora × P. s.lves.ris.collected from natural s.ands.or experimental s.ations.to s.udy whether s.oot apex morphology of 4-year old s.edlings.can be correlated with the s.quence of a chloroplas. DNA s.mple s.quence repeat marker （cpDNA s.Rs.. Total genomic DNA was.extracted and s.bjected to s.quence analys.s.of the pine cpDNA s.R marker Pt15169. Res.lts.s.ow that morphological characters.from 4-year old s.edlings.did not correlate with s.quence variants.of this.marker. marker haplotypes.from all P. s.lves.ris.trees.had a CTAT element that was.abs.nt from all s.mpled P. dens.flora trees. However, both haplotype clas.es.involving this.ins.rtion/deletion element were found in a P. dens.flora × P. s.lves.ris.population and its.s.edling progeny. It was.concluded that the P. dens.flora × P. s.lves.ris.acces.ions.s.mpled from Jilin, China res.lted from bi-directional cros.es. as.evidenced by both s.ecies. cpDNA haplotypes.within the hybrid s.arm population.
