Two parasitoids attacking nymphs of Asian citrus psyllid,Diaphorina citri Kuwayama (hemiptera:Liviidae),Tamarixia radiata (Waterston)(hymenoptera:Eulophi- dae)and Diaphoreneyrtus aligarhensis (Shafee,Alam &Agarwal)(hymenoptera:Encyrtidae)are being released in California,USA in a classical biological control program. To evaluate the effect of multiple parasitoid species on *** mortality,we conducted mesocosm experiments under controlled conditions using a complete block design with 6 treatments (*** nymphs exposed to:no parasitoids;*** or *** alone;*** or *** released first (by 48 h);and both species released simultaneously).Parasitism of *** nymphs by *** exceeded 60%and was unchanged when *** were *** by *** was greatest when T. radiata was absent (-28%)and was reduced in all treatments with *** present (hat competition between *** and *** is asymmetric and favors *** may be difficult for *** to contribute significantly to *** biological control where *** is ***, results reported here suggest that competition between *** and *** is not likely to reduce parasitism by *** or reduce parasitoid-induced mortality of ***.

Transitional geology and its effects on development and longwall mining in Pittsburgh Seam

This paper presents the geologic and ground control challenges that were encountered by Consol Energy＇s coal mining operations in southwestem Pennsylvania, USA. Geologic encounters, such as sandstone- to-limestone geology transition, massive sandstone channels, shale channels, pyritic rich green claystone, laminated roof, and soft floor, have significantly impacted the development and longwall mining in Consol＇s Pittsburgh Seam coal mines. Experience from different mines shows that, in the sandstone-to-limestone geology transition zone, 1.83 m high-tension, fully-grouted primary bolts employed along with 4.88 m cen- ter cable bolts at every other strap greatly improved beam building and ensured proper anchorage into the competent roof. hydraulic fracturing of the massive sandstone was often necessary to enhance caving of the massive sandstone behind the shields to relieve pressure at the face. The presence of soft floor coupled with presence of thick floor coal and deep cover, induced excessive headgate convergence during retreat of the first right hand longwall panel. In all, it is important to explore the roof and in-seam geology in detail to delineate normal and anomalous geologic conditions prior to and during development. With diligent geologic reconnaissance, geotechnical monitoring, and assessment, site-specific geotechnical solutions have been provided to mine operations to improve safety and productivity.

AIM To evaluate factors associated with Clostridium difficile infection (CDI) and outcomes of CDI in the myelodysplastic syndrome(MDS) and acute myeloid leukemia (AML) *** After IRB approval,all MDS/AML patients hospitalized at the University of Maryland Greenebaum Comprehensive Cancer Center between August 2011 and December 2013 were *** charts were reviewed for demographics,clinical information,development of CDI,complications of CDI,and *** with CDI,defined as having a positive stool PCR done for clinical suspicion of CDI,were compared to those without CDI in order to identify predictors of disease.A t-test was used for comparison of continuous variables and chisquare or Fisher's exact tests were used for categorical variables,as *** Two hundred and twenty-three patients (60.1% male,mean age 61.3 years,13% MDS,87% AML) had 594 unique hospitalizations during the study *** patients (15.2%) were diagnosed with *** significantly associated with CDI included lower albumin at time of hospitalization (P hemotherapy (P = 0.015),total days of neutropenia (P = 0.014),and total days of hospitalization (P = 0.005).Gender (P = 0.10),age (P = 0.77),proton-pump inhibitor use (P = 0.73),receipt of antibiotics (P = 0.66),and receipt of DNA hypomethylating agent-based chemotherapy (P = 0.92) were not significantly associated with *** CDI is common in the MDS/AML *** significantly associated with CDI in this population include low albumin,prior CDI,use of cytarabine-based chemotherapy,and prolonged *** this study,we have identified a subset of patients in which prophylaxis studies could be targeted.

The generation of high-resolution data is increasingly important in understanding the complexities of coastal ocean and developing sound management strategies, especially in view of the long-term impact of severe weather systems. The impact of severe weather systems, when integrated over time, can be significant when compared with tidal oscillations. This paper presents a study of water transport out of Vermilion Bay in response to a short, intense event associated with a passing atmospheric cold front, and reports the application of an Acoustic Doppler Current Profiler （ADCP） mounted on an Automated Surface Craft （ASC）, known as the auto-boat or unmanned boat, developed in our lab at the Louisiana State University, to generate high resolution data accurately at a fraction of the cost of a manned boat. In our study, we used a manned boat and an unmanned boat, each for over 24 h to cover an entire diurnal tidal cycle, to measure flow velocity profiles to calculate the total transport. A stationary ADCP was deployed in the Southwest Pass of the Vermilion Bay from May 2009 to April 2012, providing data almost continuously （with only one major gap）, with a 717-day record of water transport between the northern Gulf of Mexico and Vermilion Bay, and demonstrates the importance of the pass in water transport.

Approximately 75%experience phantom(PLP),residual(RLP),or general(GLP)limb pain following lower extremity *** muscle reinnervation(TMR)is a peripheral nerve transfer that reroutes amputated nerves to motor endplates that can prevent or treat limb *** systematic review summarizes pain outcomes following primary and secondary treatment of lower extremity PLP,RLP,and *** literature review of three databases-PubMed,EMBASE,MEDLINE-were used for all articles related to TMR and lower extremity limb pain,querying the same keywords:“targeted muscle reinnervation”AND“pain”.Citations were then reviewed and eliminated if only upper extremities were studied or the study lacked pain *** were categorized as primary or secondary *** outcomes,including Numerical Rating Scales(NRS)and Patient-Reported Outcome Measurement Information System(PROMIS)Pain scores,were aggregated when *** studies met all inclusion and exclusion criteria after formal review for a total of 431 extremities,of which 79.1%(n=341 limbs)were lower *** primary TMR PROMIS scores for PLP and RLP were lower than amputees without primary *** NRS scores and PROMIS Pain scores in secondary TMR demonstrated improvements in PLP,RLP,and *** and Secondary TMR does prevent and improve PLP,RLP,and GLP;however,a minority of studies report quantifiable pain *** future TMR studies should include validated pain outcomes to better quantify the expected pain and quality of life improvements after lower extremity TMR.

BACKGROUND Sleep disturbance is a core feature of post-traumatic stress disorder(PTSD).Given the relationship between sleep disturbance and PTSD,there has been a relative paucity of studies examining the potential therapeutic impact of using pharmacotherapy to target sleep disturbance in patients with ***(ESZ)is a non-benzodiazepine y-aminobutyric acid-A receptor agonist indicated for the treatment of sleep and may affect sleep in patients with *** To evaluate the efficacy of ESZ vs placebo(PBO)for patients with PTSD and *** The study was a 12-wk,double blind,randomized controlled trial with 3 mg of ESZ(n=13)or PBO(n=12).RESULTS Patients in both arms experienced significant improvement in PTSD symptoms as assessed by the Clinician-Administered PTSD Scale for DSM-IV(CAPS):ESZ(t11=-3.12,P=0.005)and PBO(t11=-3.5,P=0.002)and by self-report with the Short PTSD Rating Interview(ESZ t11=-3.38,P=0.003 and PBO t11=-4.48,P=0.0005).There were no significant differences between treatments on the CAPS(t22=-0.13,P=0.70)or the Short PTSD Rating Interview(t22=-0.58,P=0.56).Similarly,both treated groups improved on sleep measures as assessed by the Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index with PTSD Addendum(PSQI)and on total sleep time(TST)and sleep latency assessed by actigraphy with no significant differences between groups(PSQI t22=-0.24,P=0.81;total sleep time t10=0.13,P=0.90 and sleep latency t10=0.68,P=0.50).There was a significant correlation between improvement in sleep and overall improvement in PTSD as measured by change scores on the PSQI and CAPS,r(8)=0.79,P=0.01 for ESZ treated subjects,but not for those treated with PBO r(9)=0.16,P=*** events of ESZ were consistent with the known profile of the medication including dysgeusia(30%,mild),sedation(20%,mild)and headache(20%,moderate to severe).CONCLUSION Results do not support the hypothesis of a specific positive effect of ESZ compared to PBO for measures of PTSD and associated sleep disturban

The frugivorous ＂true＂ fruit fly, Bactrocera tryoni （Queensland fruit fly）, is presumed to have a nonresourced-based lek mating system. This is largely untested, and contrary data exists to suggest Bactrocera tryoni may have a resource-based mating system focused on fruiting host plants. We tested the mating system ofBactrocera tryoni, and its close sibling Bactrocera neohumeralis, in large field cages using laboratory reared flies. We used observational experiments that allowed us to determine if：（i） mating pairs were aggregated or nonaggregated; （ii） mating system was resource or nonresource based; （iii） flies utilized possible landmarks （tall trees over short） as mate-rendezvous sites; and （iv） males called females from male-dominated leks. We recorded nearly 250 Bactrocera tryoni mating pairs across all experiments, revealing that：（i） mating pairs were aggregated; （ii） mating nearly always occurred in tall trees over short; （iii） mating was nonresource based; and （iv） that males and females arrived at the mate-rendezvous site together with no evidence that males preceded females. Bactrocera neohumeralis copulations were much more infrequent （only 30 mating pairs in total）, but for those pairs there was a similar preference for tall trees and no evidence of a resource-based mating system. Some aspects of Bactrocera tryoni mating behavior align with theoretical expectations of a lekking system, but others do not. Until evidence for unequivocal female choice can be provided （as predicted under a true lek）, the mating system ofBactrocera tryoni is best described as a nonresource based, aggregation system for which we also have evidence that land-marking may be involved.
