This wo.k fo.uses o. the pro.lem o. mo.ito.ing the co.stline, which in Po.tugal’s case means mo.ito.ing 3007 kilo.eters, including 1793 maritime bo.ders with the Atlantic o.ean to.the so.th and west. The human burden o. the co.st beco.es a pro.lem, bo.h because ero.io. makes the cliffs unstable and because po.lutio. increases, making the fragile dune eco.ystem difficult to.preserve. It is beco.ing necessary to.increase the co.tro. o. access to.beaches, even if it is no. a po.ular measure fo. internal and external to.rism. The metho.o.o.y described can also.be used to.mo.ito. maritime bo.ders. The use o. images acquired in the infrared range guarantees active surveillance bo.h day and night, the main o.jective being to.mimic the infrared cameras already installed in so.e critical areas alo.g the co.stline. Using a series o. infrared pho.o.raphs taken at lo. angles with a mo.ified camera and appro.riate filter, a recent deep learning algo.ithm with the right training can simultaneo.sly detect and co.nt who.e peo.le at clo.e range and peo.le almo.t co.pletely submerged in the water, including partially visible targets, achieving a perfo.mance with F1 sco.e o. 0.945, with 97% o. targets co.rectly identified. This implementatio. is po.sible with o.dinary lapto. co.puters and co.ld co.tribute to.mo.e frequent and mo.e extensive co.erage in beach/bo.der surveillance, using infrared cameras at regular intervals. It can be partially auto.ated to.send alerts to.the autho.ities and/o. the nearest lifeguards, thus increasing mo.ito.ing witho.t relying o. human resources.

This study aims to.examine the relatio.ship between fo.giveness and o.her variables in patients suffering fro. chro.ic pain in the setting o. a chro.ic pain clinic. Metho.s: Institutio.al ethical appro.al was granted fo. this study. Patients attending a chro.ic pain clinic fo. the first time were invited to.co.plete a questio.naire co.prising a brief so.io.demo.raphic survey and questio.naires including the Heartland Fo.giveness Scale, Ho.pital Anxiety and Depressio. Scale, Pain and Anxiety Sympto.s Scale and Perceived Injustice. Results: 104 adult patients were included. The mean age was 59 years. Back pain was the mo.t co.mo. chro.ic pain presentatio.. The Heartland Fo.giveness Scale (HFS) was fo.nd to.have a go.d internal co.sistency amo.g the Irish po.ulatio.. This study fo.nd that 55% o. patients attending the pain clinic were no. fo.giving. Negative co.relatio.s were identified between fo.giveness and pain, and fo.giveness and injustice. Co.clusio.: The majo.ity o. patients attending a chro.ic pain clinic were no. fo.giving as measured o. the HFS. There was a negative co.relatio. between fo.giveness and pain. The results have sho.n that fo.giveness co.ld be beneficial as a therapeutic interventio. amo.g patients attending a chro.ic pain clinic.

Intro.uctio.: Prematurity is the leading cause o. neo.atal death in Africa. Mo.e than a millio. children die each year due to.co.mo.bidities related to.prematurity. In additio. to.being o.e o. the causes o. neo.atal deaths, the health pro.lems asso.iated with prematurity can also.lead to.severe lifelo.g impairment in tho.e who.survive. o.jectives: This paper aims to.determine the epidemio.o.y and identify co.mo.bidities o. prematurity in the neo.ato.o.y units o. the Do.ala General Ho.pital (DGH) and the Laquintinie Ho.pital o. Do.ala (LHD). Patients and Metho.o.o.y: We co.ducted an analytical retro.pective co.o.t study fro. January 2015 to.January 2018 in the neo.ato.o.y department o. the GDH and the LHD, which are co.sidered reference ho.pitals fo. the management o. preterm babies in Camero.n. We included all newbo.ns aged less than 37 weeks admitted to.the neo.ato.o.y units o. the GDH and the LHD. The descriptive co.po.ent was based o. the analysis o. quantitative variables using measures o. central tendency. The analytical co.po.ent was evaluated using Spearman co.relatio.s and the Chi-square and Fisher tests. Simple and multiple lo.istic regressio.s measured facto.s predictive o. mo.tality. The Kaplan Meier survival curve used the Lo. Rank test and significance at p ≤ 0.05. Results: We reco.ded 908 preterm newbo.ns in neo.atal service and 1,124 preterm deliveries in maternity, representing an incidence o. 32.5% in neo.atal unit and 10.6% in maternity. 51% o. who. were girls, given a sex ratio.M/F o. 0.9. Hypertensio. was the main prenatal patho.o.y (9.1%), while premature rupture o. membranes: PRo. (35.5%) and eclampsia/pre-eclampsia (18.6%) were the mo.t co.mo. o.stetrical patho.o.ies. 75.9% o. deliveries were vaginal with 65.2% being perfo.med in o.r referral ho.pitals. The efficacy o. insecticide-treated nets (ITNs) is increasingly co.pro.ised by the prevalence o. malaria vecto.s resistant to.pyrethro.ds. In respo.se to.this issue, a new generatio. o. ITNs has been develo.ed that inco.po.ate synergistic co.po.ents, such as pipero.yl buto.ide (PBo.. The purpo.e o. this study is to.pro.ide ento.o.o.ical evidence fo. the efficacy o. a PBo.based ITN brand at the village level, serving as a basis fo. decisio.-making befo.e large-scale net deplo.ment. During the high malaria transmissio. perio., ITNs were distributed in each gro.p and vecto. sampling was co.ducted biweekly in selected ho.seho.ds. Bio.o.ic data were co.lected to.assess the resistance o. wild An. gambiae po.ulatio.s to.vario.s chemical insecticides. There was a significant disparity in to.al An. gambiae sl. co.lected between the ITN arms, the interventio. arm (ITN arms), and the co.tro. arm (P = 0.003). An. co.uzzi was identified as the predo.inant species in the study area, as co.firmed by PCR analysis. Analysis o. the blo.d-feeding inhibitio. rate revealed that 100% permethrin + PBo.ITN exhibited significantly greater inhibitio. than 66.81% permethrin o.ly ITN. Acco.ding to.the lo.-time pro.it regressio. analysis, permethrin exhibited a kno.kdo.n time o. 256 min witho.t synergists, while it decreased to.139 min (P = 0.001) when pre-expo.ed to.PBo. The evidence fro. this trial suppo.ts the use o. PBo.ITNs o.er standard ITNs fo. pyrethro.ds to.co.bat pyrethro.d resistance and impro.e pro.ectio. against malaria fo. bo.h individuals and co.munities, particularly in areas with high pyrethro.d resistance.
