Semiconductor-based photocatalysts have been extensively studied for oxidative photodestruction of organic pollutants in wastewaters, releasing non-toxic substances such as Azo dyes. Various synthesized catalyst specimens were characterized to determine the correlation between preparation conditions (catalyst type, dopant, microstructure, preparation routs, optical and physico-chemical properties) on the photocatalytic activity. Some researchers focused on the process parameters to optimize them to reach higher photoactivity. The specific surface areas, crystalline size, charge and pretreatment of the surface have significant effects on the physical and photocatalytic properties of the semiconductors. The surface sites of catalyst (TiO2) were modified by doping ZnS nanoparticles in the form of Core-Shell structure and the photocatalytic activities were determined by using color degradation and hydrogen production tests. The dye adsorption isotherms of photocatalyst were determined using UV-Vis spectroscopy. The specific surface properties were determined from BET, Zeta meter and Particle size analyzer tests. Photocatalytic decolorization of AR and water splitting test were applied to understand the relation between the surface properties and the photocatalytic activity. The result indicated that core-shell prepared samples had different surface suitable sites to cooperate in photocatalytic reaction.

This study was to investigate whether working in conditions of elevated concentrations of mine gases （CO2, CO, CH4, DMS） and dust may result in oxidative stress. Coal miners （n=94） from the Velenje Coal mine who were arranged into control group and three groups according to a number of consecutive working days. 8-isoprostane as a biological marker of oxidative stress was measured in exhaled breath condensate （EBC）.

Spatial distribution and structure of nematode assemblages in coastal sediments of the southern part of the Caspian Sea were studied in relation to environmental factors. By considering metals, organic matter, Shannon diversity index（H）, maturity index（MI） and trophic diversity（ITD）, ecological quality status of sediment was also determined. Fifteen nematode species belonging to eleven genera were identified at the sampling sites. Average density of nematode inhabiting in sediment of the studied area was 139.78±98.91（ind. per 15.20 cm^2）. According to redundancy analysis（RDA）, there was high correlation between metals and some species. Based on biological indicators, the studied area had different environmental quality. Generally, chemical and biological indices showed different results while biological indices displayed similar results in more sites.

Childbirth is a stressful event for a majority of women and can have many consequences one of which is female sexual dysfunction. The main aim of pre- and postnatal health services is to fulfl physical and emo-tional needs of mothers and babies but not sexual function of women. Also, the fact that sexual satisfaction is part of general well being and mental health is generally neglected. Sexual function of women not only is affected by childbirth, but also is infuenced by many other factors. One of these factors is culture and religion. Women’s sexual life after childbirth has different meaning in different cultures. In many conservative so-cieties with certain cultural and religious beliefs women are prohibited from having sex after childbirth. In these societies, women hear conflicting stories about risks and benefts of having sexual intercourse during post-partum period the majority of which may not be true. It has been reported that some women may be at greater risk of postpartum sexual dysfunction as neurobiologi-cal factors and genetics have been recently suggested to impact female sexual functioning. Considering the multidimensional nature of female sexual dysfunction, this problem cannot be resolved by a simple solution and not all postpartum women can be treated by the same protocol. Various treatment options, such as the use of medications, behavioural interventions and psy-chotherapy have been investigated in research studies and there is still controversy over the issue. Regarding the fact that sexually satisfed women are more men-tally healthy, routine screening during prenatal, ante-natal and postnatal visits are suggested to uncover hid-den diffculties with sexual functioning of women and improve their quality of life.

This paper is a case report on the success of oocyte retrieval and good quality embryo development following controlled ovarian hyperstimulation at early pregnancy. A 30-year-old patient underwent controlled ovarian hyperstimulation by gonadotropin-releasing hormone agonist long protocol. On the day of oocyte collection, a 5-week gestational sac was observed by exact sonography monitoring. However, via ultrasound guided follicle puncture, 7 oocytes were collected. After intarcytoplasmic sperm injection, 3 developed good quality embryos were cryopreserved. Moreover, the natural pregnancy was continued and finally a healthy live birth was achieved. Despite physiological hormonal changes during pregnancy, the follicular growth occurred and followed by oocyte retrieval and embryo development, subsequently.

BACKGROUND： Immune thrombocytopenic purpnra （ITP） is a common autoimmune disorder diagnosed with thrombocytopenia and bleeding symptoms due to production of autoantibodies （Abs） against platelets. Nowadays, microRNAs are known as novel biomarkers for diagnosis of diseases. The aim of this study was to investigate the expression levels of miR-21 and miR-150 in ITP patients and determine the role of these miRNAs in ITP pathogenesis. MATERIALS and METHODS： Thirty newly diagnosed patients with acute ITP and 30 healthy subjects（ age and sex matched） as controls were enrolled in this study. The expression level ofmiR-21 and miR- 150 was investigated using Real-time-PCR. Comparison of demographic characteristics of the cases was done using independent t-test and chi-square test. Comparison of the expression level of miR-21 and miR-150 with the related parameters was done using independent t-test or Mann-Whitney and Kruskal-Wallis test, Spearman rho correlation coefficient was used to investigate the relationship between the expression of miR-21 and miR-150 with demographic characteristics. RESULTS： The expression of miR-21, 150 in the patients was not different compared with the control group in general. A significant relationship between the expression of miR-21 with hemoglobin, hematocrit and red blood cell hemoglobin concentration was observed. DISCUSSION： Expression of miR-21 and miR-150 is not associated with pathogenesis of acute ITP and can involve the synergistic role of other miRNAs. Investigation of miR-21 and miR-150 expression along with other miRNAs and cytokines can be helpful in diagnosis and pathogenesis of ITP.

Incidence of T3151 mutation in BCR/ABL-positive CML and ALL patients

OBJECTIVES： Targeted therapy of Philadelphia-positive ALL and CML patients using imatinib （IM） has caused significant changes in treatment course and has increased the survival of patients. A small group of patients show resistance to IM. Acquired mutations in tyrosine kinase domain of BCR-ABL protein are a mechanism for development of resistance. T315I is one of the most common acquired mutations in this domain, which occurs in ATP binding site and inhibits the formation of hydrogen bond with IM. The aim of this study was to evaluate the prevalence of this mutation in BCR/ABL-positive CML and ALL patients. METHODS： To conduct this study, 60 BCR-ABL-positive patients （including 50 CML and 10 ALL patients） who were subject to treatment with IM were selected. After taking the samples, presence of T315I mutation was assessed using ARMS- PCR on cDNA and its polymorphism was evaluated by sequencing. RESULTS： The results showed that among 60 patients, only three patients had T315I mutation, which was detected using ARMS technique. The three patients bearing mutation were afflicted with CML and no significant association was found between blood parameters with duration of treatment in presence of mutation. CONCLUSIONS： The mutation was found in three CML patients, which indicated lower likelihood and diagnostic value of this mutation in ALL patients. Given the negative direct sequencing results in T3151 patients, it can be concluded that ARMS- PCR is a more sensitive technique when the number of cancer cells is low in patients during treatment.

For the first time,the solubility ofβ-carotene in pure and ethanol-modified subcritical water(SW)using the static method was *** experimental runs were performed at a temperature ranging from 298.15 to 403.15 K and 0–10%(w/w)of ethanol as a modifier at a constant pressure of 5 *** were analyzed by UV–vis *** solubility ofβ-carotene was found to range from 1.084×10^-8 to 227.1×10^-8 mol fractions in the subcritical water in above mentioned *** obtainedβ-carotene solubility data were correlated using the linear model and modified Apelblat *** obtained results showed the modified Apelblat model was better for estimating the solubility ofβ-carotene in *** values of the rootmean-square deviation(RMSD)between experimental and correlated data were calculated and used as the index of validity and accuracy for the ***,thermodynamic properties of the solution such as the Gibbs free energy of solution,enthalpy,and entropy of solution were estimated.

Microfacies Patterns and Depositional Environments of the Sarvak Formation in the Abadan Plain, Southwest of Zagros, Iran

The Sarvak Formation is the second major oil-bearing reservoir in the south and south west of Iran. The Middle Cretaceous Sarvak formation in the Zagros Mountains (Zagros Basin) is mainly composed of carbonate sequences. Based on facies studied, thirteen microfacies were recognized in the studied area, which were categorized in the three facies groups: including inner ramp, mid ramp and outer ramp. Evidences such as the gradual changes in the facies (basin slope), the absence of extensive uninterrupted barrier reef, the lack of calciturbidite and gravity sediments as well as the high proportion of grain-supported indicated that the Sarvak Formation was deposited in the ramp like depositional system, particularly on an inner ramp setting. Inner ramp facies group is the principal setting and subdivided to tidal flat, restricted and unrestricted lagoon as well as shoal sub-environments.
