Gastrin and antral G cells in course of Helicobacter pylori eradication: Six months follow up study

AiM： To assess long-term effects of Helicobacter pylori （H pylon} eradication on antral G cell morphology and function in patients with and without duodenal ulcer （DU）.METHODS： Consecutive dyspeptic patients referred to the endoscopy entered the study. Out of 39 Hpylori positive patients, 8 had DU （Hpylori ＋DU） and 31 gastritis （Hpylori＋G）. Control groups consisted of 11 uninfected dyspeptic patients （CG1） and 7 healthy volunteers （CG2）. Basal plasma gastrin （PGL）, antral tissue gastrin concentrations （ATGC）, immunohistochemical and electron microscopic characteristics of G cells were determined, prior to and 6 mo after ***： We-demonstrated elevated PGL in infected patients compared to uninfected controls prior to *** PGL were registered in all Hpylori＋patients （Hpylori＋DU： 106.78＋22.72 pg/mL, Hpylori＋G： 74.95＋15.63,CGi： 68.59＋17.97, CG2：39.24＋5.59 pg/mL, P〈0.01）.Successful eradication （e） therapy in Hpylori＋patients lead to significant decrease in PGL （Hpylori＋DU： 59.93＋9.40 and Hpylori＋Ge： 42.36＋10.28 pg/mL, P〈0.001）. ATGC at the beginning of the study were similar in infected and uninfected patients and eradication therapy lead to significant decrease in ATGC in Hpylori＋gastritis, but not in DU patients. in the Hpylori＋DU patients, the mean number of antral G cells was significantly lower in comparison with all other groups （P〈0.01）, but after successful eradication was close to normal values found in controls. By contrast, G cell number and volume density were significantly decreased （P〈0.01） in Hpylori＋Ge group after successful eradication therapy （294＋32 and 0.31＋0.02,respectively）, in comparison to values before eradication （416~40 and 0.48~0.09）. No significant change of the G cell/total endocrine cell ratio was observed during the 6 mo of follow up in any of the groups. Background: Today, in healthcare field that is changing rapidly, decision-makers encounter with ever-increasing inquiries on clinical and administrative information to realize customers’ legal and clinical requirements. Therefore, making decisions on healthcare has changed into a vital, complex and unstructured issue. The present paper mainly focuses on describing decision-making advantages, possible risk to improve efficiency of decision-making on healthcare, and especially medical procedures. Methods: The present research is a review study, which has been carried out by searching through the authentic scientific sources, including Pubmed, Google scholar, iranmedex, and other information sources. While defining care intelligence, here, we introduce Knowledge Discovery Database, the Clinical Support Systems, and intelligence Risk Detection Model and provide the conceptual model. Other issues studied in this paper include the Risk Possibility Assessment Technique, Risk Possibility Detection using knowledge management techniques, and expert systems. Results & Conclusion: Modeling the intelligence Support System is necessary for designing Real-Time Risk Detection information Systems in clinical measures. As taking medical procedures involves complex decision-makings and possibility of high risk, operational application of the techniques derived from knowledge and data mining models under study will play a crucial role in increasing possibility of success of the measure and promoting safety of patients.

＜正＞The system of municipal waste management in the Republic of Slovenia is developing gradually. There exist substantial differences between particular regions or communities. One of the most outstanding problems is a lack of landfill capacities. Therefore is evident the necessity of more efficient extraction of useful fractions from waste before deposition and their material or energetic reuse. This cannot be achieved without systematic introduction of separate municipal waste collection. Slovenian legislation referring to the problems of waste is adequately harmonized with European Unity directives. A considerable problem presents the fact how to implement the legislative demands in practice in a relatively short period.

Reineckeiidae (Ammonoidae) Family of the Dalichai Formation in Damghan Area (East Alborz), iran

The present study is concerning the systematic descriptions of the Middle Jurassic (Callovian) ammonite fauna from the Damghan Area (eastern Alborz) and contains a rather rich ammonite fauna. The described ammonites come from the Middle part of the Dalichai Formation, consisting of an alternation of green marl, grey limestone and marly limestone. in this research, the biostratigraphy of these rocks is discussed with special emphasis on the abundant ammonite fauna (Reineckeiidae family). Altogether, 74 specimens of ammonites belonging to 14 species, 3 genera, 3 sub genera from Reineckeiidae family are described. Palaeobiogeographically the ammonite fauna is closely related to that of the sub-Mediterranean Province of the northwestern Tethys. The ammonites represent four zones, i.e. Rehmannia (Loczyceras) cf. segestena (Anceps Zone), Rehmannia (Loczyceras) reissi (Anceps Zone), Rehmannia (Loczyceras) rehmanni (Anceps Zone), Rehmannia (Loczyceras) sequanica densicostata (Coronatum Zone), Reineckeia (Tyrannites) convexa (Gracilis Zone), Reineckeia (Tyrannites) pictava (Gracilis Zone), Reineckeia (Reineckeia) anceps anceps (Anceps Zone), Reineckeia (Reineckeia) anceps elmii (Anceps Zone), Reineckeia (Reineckeia) cf. fehlmani (Anceps Zone), Reineckeia (Reineckeia) nodosa (Athleta Zone), Collotia cf. multicostat (Anceps Zone), Collotia cf. gaillardi (Coronatum Zone), Collotia cf. oxyptychoides (Athleta Zone), Collotia cf. collotiformis (Athleta Zone).

Analysis of Cracks Resulting from Thermite Welding of Cathodic Protection

Various steel pipes that are exposed to corrosion, are protected with the cathodic protection where thermite welding of a copper conductor on a steel pipe is used. During the welding process and due to the nature of it, steel in the solid state comes in contact with liquid copper. Contact of steel with liquid metal in some cases cause phenomenon known as the liquid-metal embrittlement or LME. Phenomenon was previously studied in cases such as soldering, but for thermite welding no records were found in accessible literature. The purpose of this paper is to draw attention to some irregularities and consequences arising from it, which in this type of welding can occur. At the end of article some measures to reduce these risks are given.

Villous adenomas are benign epithelial lesions with malignant potential that can occur in any part of the gastrointestinal tract. We present a case of a middle age woman with acromegaly who was investigated for nonspecific gastrointestinal complaints. Ultrasonography and subsequent endosonography diagnosed a large （4.5 cm）, hyperechoic, sessile polyp with numerous pedicles. An open cholecystectomy was performed and revealed a villous adenoma with several foci of carcinoma in situ. Detailed investigations showed no other tumors of the gastrointestinal tract. After five years of follo up, the patient reports no complaints, and the results of laboratory testing and imaging studies are within the normal range.

Objective: To evaluate the effect of imatinib mesylate on cell viability, anti cancer effect through modulation of KAi1/CD82 gene expression in breast cancer MCF-7 cell ***: The effects of imatinib mesylate on cell viability in MCF-7 cell line were assessed using MTT assay and iC_(50) value was determined. GAPDH and KAi1/CD82 were selected as reference and target genes, respectively. Quantitative real time PCR technique was applied for investigation of KAi1/CD82 gene expression in human breast cancer MCF-7 cells. Subsequently, the quantity of KAi1 compared to GAPDH gene expressions were analyzed using the formula; 2^(-DDCt).Results: imatinib was showed to have a dose-dependent inhibitory effect on the viability of MCF-7 cells. CD82/GAPDH gene expression ratios were 1.322 ± 0.030(P > 0.05),2.052 ± 0.200(P imatinib ***: Based on the present data, imatinib mesylate might modulate metastasis by up-regulating KAi1/CD82 gene expression in human breast MCF-7 cancer cell line.

Neurenteric cysts are extremely rare congenital anomalies, often presenting in the first 5 years of life, and are caused by an incomplete separation of the notochord from the foregut during the third week of embryogenesis. They are frequently accompanied with spinal or gastrointestinal abnormalities, but the latter may be absent in adults. Although usually located in the thorax, neurenteric cysts may be found along the entire spine. We present a 24-year-old woman admitted for epigastric pain, nausea, vomiting, low grade fever and leucocytosis. She underwent cystgastrostomy for a ioculated cyst of the distal pancreas at the age of 4 years, which recurred when she was at the age of 11 years. Ultrasound and computer tomograghy （CT） scan revealed a 16 cmx 15 cm cystic mass in the body and tail of pancreas, with a 6-7 mm thickened wall. Laboratory data and chest X-ray were normal and spinal radiographs did not show any structural abnormalities. The patient underwent a complete cyst excision, and after an uneventful recovery, remained symptom-free without recurrence during the 5-year follow-up. The cyst was found to contain 1200 mL of pale viscous fluid. it was covered by a primitive singlelayered cuboidal epithelium, along with specialized antral glandular parenchyma and hypoplastic primitive gastric mucosa. Focal glandular groups resembling those of the body of the stomach were also seen. in addition, ciliary respiratory epithelium, foci of squamous metaplasia and mucinous glands were present. The wall of the cyst contained a muscular layer, neuroglial tissue with plexogenic nerve fascicles, Paccini corpuscle-like structures, hyperplastic neuroganglionar elements and occasional psammomatous bodies, as well as fibroblast-like areas of surrounding stroma. Cartilagenous tissue was not found in any part of the cyst. immunohistochemistry confirmed the presence of neurogenic elements marked by S-100, GFAP, NF and NSE. Legalon-SiL downregulates HCV core and NS5A in human hepatocytes expressing full-length HCV

AiM: To determine the effect of Legalon-SiL (LS) on hepatitis C virus (HCV) core and NS5A expression and on heme oxygenase-1 (HMOX-1) and its transcriptional regulators in human hepatoma cells expressing full length HCV genotype 1b. METHODS: CON1 cells were treated with 50 μmol/L or 200 μmol/L LS. Cells were harvested after 2, 6 and 24 h. HCV RNA and protein levels were determined by quantitative real-time polymerase chain reaction and Western blotting, respectively. RESULTS: HCV RNA (core and NS5A regions) wasdecreased after 6 h with LS 200 μmol/L (P ion (by 55% and 88%, respectively) and NS5A region (by 62% and 87%, respectively) after 24 h compared with vehicle (dimethyl sulphoxide) control (P imilarly HCV core and NS5A protein were decreased (by 85%, P ively) by LS 200 μmol/L. Bach1 and HMOX-1 RNA were also downregulated by LS treatment (P ile Nrf2 protein was increased (P iON: Our results demonstrate that treatment with LS downregulates HCV core and NS5A expression in CON1 cells which express full length HCV genotype 1b, and suggests that LS may prove to be a valuable alternative or adjunctive therapy for the treatment of HCV infection.
