TanDEM-X multiparametric data features in sea ice classification over the Baltic sea

In this study,we assess the potential of X-band Interferometric Synthetic Aperture Radar imagery for automated classification of sea ice over the Baltic Sea.A bistatic SAR scene acquired by the TanDEM-X mission over the Bothnian Bay in March of 2012 was used in the analysis.Backscatter intensity,interferometric coherence magnitude,and interferometric phase have been used as informative features in several classification experiments.Various combinations of classification features were evaluated using Maximum likelihood(ML),Random Forests(RF)and Support Vector Machine(SVM)classifiers to achieve the best possible discrimination between open water and several sea ice types(undeformed ice,ridged ice,moderately deformed ice,brash ice,thick level ice,and new ice).Adding interferometric phase and coherence-magnitude to backscatter-intensity resulted in improved overall classification per-formance compared to using only backscatter-intensity.The RF algorithm appeared to be slightly superior to SVM and ML due to higher overall accuracies,however,at the expense of somewhat longer processing time.The best overall accuracy(OA)for three methodologies were achieved using combination of all tested features were 71.56,72.93,and 72.91%for ML,RF and SVM classifiers,respectively.Compared to OAs of 62.28,66.51,and 63.05%using only backscatter intensity,this indicates strong benefit of SAR interferometry in discriminating different types of sea ice.In contrast to several earlier studies,we were particularly able to successfully discriminate open water and new ice classes.

The modeling non-sequential double ionization of helium atom under highintensity femtosecond laser pulses with shielding charge approximation

In this study,we successfully extracted the‘knee structure’for non-sequential double ionization(NSDI)in the helium atom.To achieve this,for the first time,we solved the time-dependent Schrödinger equation in three dimensions for the helium atom,utilizing the shielding charge approximation.Our findings corroborate prior observations by Wang et al[Wang and Eberly,Phys.Rev.Lett.105,083001(2010)],demonstrating that NSDI occurs within a narrower time window in circular polarization compared to linear polarization.As a result,the yield of linear polarization was higher than that of circular polarization,aligning with the previously reported results.Notably,in the case of circular polarization,the time window further narrows with increasing intensity,attributed to a decrease in the time-of-flight.

Metabolic syndrome(MS)involves people with the following risk factors:obesity,hypertension,high glucose level and hyperlipidemia.It can increase the risk of heart disease,stroke and type 2 diabetes mellitus.The prevalence of MS in the world’s adult population is about 20%–25%.Today,there is much care to use medicinal plants.Turmeric(Curcuma longa)as well as curcumin which is derived from the rhizome of the plant,has been shown beneficial effects on different components of MS.Thus,the purpose of this manuscript was to introduce different in vitro,in vivo and human studies regarding the effect of turmeric and its constituent on MS.Moreover,different mechanisms of action by which this plant overcomes MS have been introduced.Based on studies,turmeric and its bioactive component,curcumin,due to their anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties,have antidiabetic effects through increasing insulin release,antihyperlipidemic effects by increasing fatty acid uptake,anti-obesity effects by decreasing lipogenesis,and antihypertensive effects by increasing nitric oxide.According to several in vivo,in vitro and human studies,it can be concluded that turmeric or curcumin has important values as a complementary therapy in MS.However,more clinical trials should be done to confirm these effects.

The Covid-19 pandemic has severely affected various aspects of life,and its compounding and cascading impacts have been observed in most industries and firms.The oil and gas(O&G)industry was among the first to experience the impacts as the pandemic began due to the global economic recession and a sharp decline in demand for oil.The pandemic revealed major risk management and business continuity challenges and uncovered some of the vulnerabilities of the O&G industry and its major companies during a prolonged global disaster.Examining and understanding how the Covid-19 pandemic impacted the O&G sector in different countries,considering their unique circumstances,can provide important lessons for managing the current and future similar events.This study investigated various impacts of the Covid-19 pandemic on the O&G industry using Iran's Pars Oil and Gas Company(POGC)as a case study.Data were collected through indepth interviews with key managers of the company.Qualitative methods,specifically thematic analysis,were used to analyze the data.Findings of this study provide further insights into how the pandemic impacted the operations,risks,and business continuity of the POCG.The results show that the pandemic caused significant operational,financial,and legal impacts by disrupting routine maintenance,reducing the availability of human resources under the public health measures and mobility restrictions,increasing processing and delivery times,increasing costs and decreasing revenues,and delaying contractual obligations.

Sentinel-1 In SAR observations and time-series analysis of co-and postseismic deformation mechanisms of the 2021 Mw 5.8 Bandar Ganaveh Earthquake,Southern Iran

In the past two decades,because of the significant increase in the availability of differential interferometry from synthetic aperture radar and GPS data,spaceborne geodesy has been widely employed to determine the co-seismic displacement field of earthquakes.On April 18,2021,a moderate earthquake(Mw 5.8)occurred east of Bandar Ganaveh,southern Iran,followed by intensive seismic activity and aftershocks of various magnitudes.We use two-pass D-InSAR and Small Baseline Inversion techniques via the LiCSBAS suite to study the coseismic displacement and monitor the four-month post-seismic deformation of the Bandar Ganaveh earthquake,as well as constrain the fault geometry of the co-seismic faulting mechanism during the seismic sequence.Analyses show that the co-and postseismic deformation are distributed in relatively shallow depths along with an NW-SE striking and NE dipping complex reverse/thrust fault branches of the Zagros Mountain Front Fault,complying with the main trend of the Zagros structures.The average cumulative displacements were obtained from-137.5 to+113.3 mm/yr in the SW and NE blocks of the Mountain Front Fault,respectively.The received maximum uplift amount is approximately consistent with the overall orogen-normal shortening component of the Arabian-Eurasian convergence in the Zagros region.No surface ruptures were associated with the seismic source;therefore,we propose a shallow blind thrust/reverse fault(depth~10 km)connected to the deeper basal decollement fault within a complex tectonic zone,emphasizing the thin-skinned tectonics.

Introduction Anxiety and depressive disorders pose significant public health issues across the world.Depression and other depressive disorders are mental illnesses characterised by a profound and persistent feeling of sadness or despair and a loss of interest in formerly pleasurable activities.Disturbances in sleep,appetite and cognitive processes are common symptoms.Globally,5%of adults are estimated to suffer from the disorder.1 Anxiety disorder is a chronic condition characterised by excessive and persistent apprehension,with physical symptoms such as sweating,palpitations,feelings of stress and increased blood pressure.

Assessing renewable-energy potential and feasibility in Tehran’s buildings

This article examines the results of using renewable energy to reduce the energy consumption of buildings significantly.In particular,it looks at the results in a country such as Iran,which has a high potential for using solar energy.A comparison of the energy consumption of selected case samples based on the type of ownership of private,government and municipal buildings in 22 districts of Tehran has been analysed.Using data for energy consumption and Strengths,Weaknesses,Opportunities,Threats analysis includes open and usable spaces for installing renewable-energy systems in 10%of public buildings,4%of private facilities and 10%of municipal buildings.The results of this study show that the average energy consumption of buildings in Tehran is almost four times the global average.Iran has~300 days of sunlight for installing solar panels in any place where solar energy is in direct contact with the Sun.Thus,it allows the building to use the energy absorbed by the discussions in all seasons.In 2050,this country could play a decisive role in producing renewable energy.In addition,solar energy may reduce fossil-fuel consumption and production costs.

Associations between Bodyweight and Clinical Outcome in Patients Post-Fontan Procedure: A Systematic Review

Background: Patients born with a single ventricle circulation commonly experience growth failure in early life,which is associated with adverse outcomes in infancy. However, associations between bodyweight or weight trajectoryand clinical outcome post-Fontan procedure are yet to be determined. Methods: On the 1st of July 2021, asystematic review was performed in MEDLINE, EMBASE, the Cochrane Library, and Scopus of studies of patientswith clinical outcome data post-Fontan procedure and association with bodyweight. Quality of studies was evaluatedby Newcastle–Ottawa scale for cohort studies and Joanna Briggs Institute tool for cross-sectional studies.Results: Of 527 studies that underwent title and abstract screening, 15 were selected for final review. An increasedrisk of adverse post-Fontan outcomes was found for low weight patients, consistent with findings in infants.Whilst there is some evidence to suggest increased mortality in overweight adult patients, studies are conflictingas to whether overweight status is associated with increased heart failure. Increased BMI is associated with diminishedexercise capacity and deceased physiological functioning. Negative weight trajectory is associated withadverse outcomes in the peri-Fontan period, whereas a positive weight trajectory is associated with increased Fontanfailure in adulthood. Abnormal BMI (high or low) is associated with increased heart failure and poorer performancein quality-of-life scores. Conclusions: Bodyweight is a modifiable risk factor for poor clinical outcomein patients with a single ventricle circulation. Recognizing associations between bodyweight and Fontan pathophysiologymay help to define patient-centered exercise and diet interventions that minimize patient morbidityand mortality.

Ethylbenzene disproportionation and p-xylene selectivity enhancement in xylene isomerization using high crystallinity desilicated H-ZSM-5

Desilication accompanied with minimum loss of crystallinity effect of a high alumina ZSM-5 zeolite on the isomerization reaction of ethylbenzene/xylene mixtures has been considered.Desilication was assessed through XRF,XRD,FTIR,TEM,nitrogen adsorption/desorption,NH_3-TPD,^(29)Si and^(27)Al MAS NMR analytical techniques.Desilication was accompanied with the creation of super acid sites.There exists a limit(Si/Al molar ratio of9.67)for keeping high crystallinity and obtaining improved catalytic performance.Desilication promotes ethylbenzene conversion by disproportionation and trans-alkylation reactions while the same reactions are limited for the xylene isomers.The p-xylene approach to equilibrium improves by more than 7% at 400℃ and a WHSV of 2 h^(-1)for the optimum sample with respect to the parent zeolite.At the same conditions,the optimum sample exhibits the maximum ethylbenzene conversion of 89%,i.***.more than 40%w.***.t.of the parent zeolite.However,the xylene yield decreases only 3%.
