Immunogenic Cell Death(ICD)represents a mechanism of enhancing T cell-driven response against tumor *** process is enabled by release of damage-associated molecular patterns(DAMPs)and cytokines by dying *** on molecular studies and clinical marker assessment,ICD can be a new target for cancer chemotherapy hitherto restricted to a few conventional anticancer *** view of the development of small molecules in targeted cancer therapy,we reported the preliminary evidence on the role of the natural product lepadin A(1)as a novel ICD *** we describe the ICD mechanism of lepadin A(1)by proving the translocation of the protein calreticulin(CRT)to the plasma membrane of human A2058 melanoma *** exposure is an ICD marker in clinical studies and was associated with the activation of the intrinsic apoptotic pathway in A2058 cells with lepadin A(1).After the treatment,the tumour cells acquired the ability to activate dendritic cells(DCs)with cytokine release and costimulatory molecule expression that is consistent with a phenotypic profile committed to priming T lymphocytes via a CD91-dependent *** effect of lepadin A(1)was dose-dependent and comparable to the response of the chemotherapy drug doxorubicin(2),a well-established ICD inducer.

There is a strong evidence supporting the hypothesis of synaptic dysfunction as a major contributor to neural circuit and network disruption underlying emotional and mood dysregulation in psychiatric disorders(Simmons et al.,2024).Diverse sets of distinct molecular signaling pathways converge on the synapse to regulate synaptogenesis,synaptic function,and synaptic plasticity in brain regions and circuits through complex interactions organized by numerous multivalent protein scaffolds,including the family of proteins known as A-kinase anchoring proteins(AKAPs).

A model for the mechanics of woven fabrics is developed in the framework of two-dimensional elastic surface theory. Thickness effects are modeled indirectly in terms of appropriate constitutive equations. The model accounts for the strain of the fabric and additional effects associated with the normal bending, geodesic bending, and twisting of the constituent fibers.

Effects of urea and(NH_4)_2 SO_4 on nitrification and acidification of Ultisols from Southern China

The mechanisms for the effects of ammonium-based fertilizers on soil acidification in subtropical regions are not well understood. Two Ultisols collected from cropland and a tea garden in Anhui and Jiangxi Provinces in subtropical southern China, respectively, were used to study the effects of urea and （NH4）aSO4 on the nitrification and acidification of soils with incubation experiments. Nitrification occurred at very low pH with no N fertilizer added and led to lowering of the soil pH by 0.53 and 0.30 units for the soils from Jiangxi and Anhui, respectively. Addition of urea accelerated nitrification and soil acidification in both Ultisols; while nitrification was inhibited by the addition of （NH4）2SO4, and greater input of （NH4）2SO4 led to greater inhibition of nitrification. Ammonia-oxidizing bacteria （AOB） played an important role in nitrification in cropland soil under acidic conditions. Addition of urea increased the soil pH at the early stages of incubation due to hydrolysis and stimulated the increase in the AOB population, and thus accelerated nitrification and soil acidification. At the end of incubation, the pH of Ultisol from Jiangxi had decreased by 1.25, 1.54 and 1.84 units compared to maximum values for the treatments with 150, 300 and 400 mg/kg of urea-N added, respectively; the corresponding figures were 0.95, 1.25 and 1.69 for the Ultisol from Anhui. However, addition of （NH4）：SO4 inhibited the increase in the AOB population and thus inhibited nitrification and soil acidification. Soil pH for the treatments with 300 and 400 mg/kg of （NHn）2SOa-N remained almost constant during the incubation. AOB played an important role in nitrification of the cropland soil under acidic conditions. Addition of urea stimulated the increase in the AOB population and thus accelerated nitrification and soil acidification; while addition of （NH4）2SO4 inhibited the increase in the AOB population and thus inhibited nitrification.

A two-dimensional numerical scheme for the compressible Euler equations is presented and applied here to the simulation of exemplary compressible vortical *** proposed approach allows to perform computations on unstructured moving grids with adaptation,which is required to capture complex features of the *** adaptation is driven by suitable error indicators based on theMach number and by element-quality constraints as *** the new time level,the computational grid is obtained by a suitable combination of grid smoothing,edge-swapping,grid refinement and *** grid modifications-including topology modification due to edge-swapping or the insertion/deletion of a new grid node-are interpreted at the flow solver level as continuous(in time)deformations of suitably-defined node-centered finite *** solution over the new grid is obtained without explicitly resorting to interpolation techniques,since the definition of suitable interface velocities allows one to determine the new solution by simple integration of the Arbitrary Lagrangian-Eulerian formulation of the flow *** simulations of the steady oblique-shock problem,of the steady transonic flow and of the start-up unsteady flow around the NACA 0012 airfoil are presented to assess the scheme capabilities to describe these flows accurately.

Phosphorus requirements for containerized Pterocarpus indicus seedlings

Pterocarpus indicus Willd is a tropical woody legume that holds promise for plantation forestry. Two glasshouse experiments were undertaken on two soil types to determine the phosphorus （P） concentration ranges in the foliage of P-stressed and healthy plants, and to define cri- tical P concentrations for the diagnosis of deficiency and toxicity. There was a narrow range in rates of P fertilizer, supplied as Ca（H2PO4）2.H2O, between deficiency and toxicity compared to other tree species. The relationship between shoot yield and P concentration in the youngest fully expanded leaf enabled critical P concentrations for the diagnosis of deficiency （0.17 %） and toxicity （0.41%） to be determined at 90 % maximum yield from linear re- gressions fitted to the data. The foliar P concentration ranges for deficiency and toxicity were similar to other nitrogen-fixing trees. The defined P concentration ranges and the critical P concentrations for the diagnosis of P deficiency and P toxicity should be useful for monitoring the P status of nursery stock and the health of young seedlings after out-planting.

Successful management of an asymptomatic bilateral synchronous testicular carcinoid tumor with a testicular-sparing surgery

Dear Editor, Carcinoid tumors have been described in a large range of organs, but they most commonly involve the gastrointestinal and bronchopulmonary systems.1 These tumors of the testis are rare entity comprising 〈1% of all testis tumors and can arise as a metastasis from an extratesticular primary as a part of a teratoma or as primary tumor.2 Patients affected by carcinoid tumors present symptoms of carcinoid syndrome, such as diarrhea, flushings, and bronchospasm.3 We report a first case described in scientific literature of primary bilateral synchronous testicular carcinoid tumor that does not associated with carcinoid syndrome. INFLUENCE OF TIBETAN PLATEAU ON LOW LEVEL JET IN EAST ASIA

In this paper, the essential role played by tie Tibetan Plateau in the formation of large scale low level jet over China is shown. Using the ECMWF limited area model we have performed some numerical experiments with various modified orography for a real case. The comparison of no-mountain run with the control one shows that the Plateau acts as a west boundary to the flows from the south, thus helping concentrate the momentum in a narrow belt. The close connection between the jet and the monsoon current is also investigated. The confluence of the currents from the subtropical high and mid-latitude trough mainly results in the strong wind centre at mid-troposphere rather than at lower level.
