Spinal cord injury(SCI)is a devastating and disabling medical condition generally caused by a traumatic event(primary injury).This initial trauma is accompanied by a set of biological mechanisms directed to ameliorate neural damage but also exacerbate initial damage(secondary injury).The alterations that occur in the spinal cord have not only local but also systemic consequences and virtually all organs and tissues of the body incur important changes after SCI,explaining the progression and detrimental consequences related to this ***(PNIE)is a growing area of research aiming to integrate and explore the interactions among the different systems that compose the human organism,considering the mind and the body as a *** initial traumatic event and the consequent neurological disruption trigger immune,endocrine,and multisystem dysfunction,which in turn affect the patient's psyche and *** the present review,we will explore the most important local and systemic consequences of SCI from a PNIE perspective,defining the changes occurring in each system and how all these mechanisms are ***,potential clinical approaches derived from this knowledge will also be collectively presented with the aim to develop integrative therapies to maximize the clinical management of these patients.

Foraging, feeding, and physiological stress responses of wild wood mice to increased illumination and common genet cues

In nature, animals are exposed to a broad range of threats imposed by predators, which may strongly influence the ecology of prey species directly or indirectly by affecting their behavior via fear of predation. Here, we studied wood mice Apodemus sylvaticus behavioral and physiological responses to simulated predation risk. Risk avoidance was analyzed by live trapping with control traps and traps treated with feces of common genet Genetta genetta （direct cue of risk） under new moon nights and following by simulated full moon conditions （indirect cue）. The time devoted to foraging behavior and capture time were analyzed by video recording mice activity around traps. Food intake was calculated based on the amount of bait remaining in each trap. Fecal cortico- sterone metabolites （FCMs） were measured by enzyme-immunoassay as indicators of physio- logical stress responses. Fewer wood mice were captured during full moon, yet only non-breeding adult males clearly avoided common genet odor. Mice were captured sooner at night during the simulated full moon conditions and later in predator-treated traps. Foraging activity was lower when individuals faced predator＇s feces, but neither food intake nor FCM levels were affected by predation risk cues. direct and indirect cues of predation risk selectively affected wood mice behavior, although behavioral responses seem to be modulated by different costs-benefit balances related to the individual＇s perception of risk. The lack of physiological responses to predation risk cues suggests that wood mice did not perceive them as reliable stressors or the response was too small or transient to be measured by FCM.

Social media is commonly used by governments to disseminate information related to transparency and institutional promotion,but its potential for the dissemination of cultural resources is often *** research proposes a strategy for adopting social media to achieve cultural dissemination in the municipality of Lamas,Peru,which has tourism potential and has been awarded the“Best Tourism Villages”seal of the World Tourism ***,we propose a case study at a propositional exploratory *** start by determining the current state of dissemination of tangible and intangible resources,as well as the practical use of social media,through a survey of 20 *** results reveal that crafts are the most widely disseminated tangible resource in the municipality(according to 55%of officials),and intangible resources are occasionally disseminated(50%).We also find that Facebook is the only digital channel used to disseminate cultural *** this context,we formulate a strategy for adopting social media to improve cultural dissemination,which consists of six phases:(i)forming a work team,(ii)preparing a budget plan,(iii)strengthening capacities,(iv)taking inventory of cultural resources,(v)coordinating community interests and(vi)preparing a cultural dissemination *** findings can contribute to formulating public initiatives for the institutionalisation of social media in governments for the purposes of preserving,promoting and guaranteeing the accessibility of cultural heritage.

Risk Factors Associated with Unsuccessful Vaginal Birth after One Cesarean (VBAC-1) in Puerto Rico

Background: Cesarean section (CS) has increased steadily over the last decade, with an estimated one-third of women delivering by cesarean section worldwide. Objective: Our study aimed to investigate the demographic and associated factors influencing vaginal birth after one cesarean (VBAC-1) success focusing on variables like pre-pregnancy BMI, diabetes, hypertension, education, and smoking. Study design and Methods: In this retrospective study, we analyzed 285 cases (81 unsuccessful VBAC-1, 204 successful VBAC-1) from San Juan City Hospital (Puerto Rico) between January 1, 2019, and december 31, 2020. We used odds ratios and model selection comparison to assess the impact of variables on successful VBAC-1, using a significance threshold of 95% CI. Model selection assessed binomial model combinations using a generalized linear approach to identify key risk factors. Results: Unsuccessful VBAC-1 (a repeat cesarean), was associated with diabetes (OR: 0.376, p = 0.086), hypertension (OR: 0.23, p = 0.006), and university-educated women (OR: 1.372, p = 0.711). High school-educated women had an OR of 3.966 (p = 0.105), while overweight women were 0.481 times more likely to have unsuccessful VBAC-1 (p = 0.041). Significant associations were not found with obesity (OR: 0.574, p = 0.122), underweight/normal (OR: 1.01, p = 0.810), or smoking (OR: 1.227, p = 0.990). Conclusion: Results revealed women with higher education levels, hypertension, or diabetes are less likely to have a successful VBAC-1. Understanding the complex interactions affecting these outcomes is aimed at establishing guidelines for healthcare professionals to conduct systematic risk/benefit assessments. This study lays a foundation for evidence-based practices and policies, offering initial insights into VBAC-1 success factors in Puerto Rico.

Single photo and electroproduction of pions at EBAC@JLAB

Within the Excited Baryon Analysis Center we have performed a dynamical coupled-channels analysis of the available p（e,e＇π）N data in the region of W ≤ 1.6 GeV and Q2 ≤1.45 （GeV/c）2. The channels included are γ＊N, π＊N, ηN, and ηN which has π△, pN, and σN components. With the hadronic parameters of the model determined in our previous investigations of πN→ πN reaction, we have found that the available data in the considered W ≤ 1.6 GeV region can be fitted well by only adjusting the bare γ＊N → N＊ helicity amplitudes for the lowest N＊ states in P33, P11, S11 and d13 partial waves. The meson cloud effect, as required by the unitarity conditions, on the γ＊N → N＊ form factors are examined.

目的在重症监护病房(IntensiveCareUnit,ICU),护土难免会遇到需要限制治疗努力(limiting therapeutie efort,LTE)的患者,尽管多数护士还缺乏为这些临终患者及其家庭提供支持的准备。本综述旨在描述ICU护士在LTE中需要具备的能力。方法对2010年--2023年发表的文献进行综述。系统检索了5个数据库:Medline、Wiley Online Library、SciELO、Sciencedirect和Web of Science。使用关键评估项目工具西班牙语版(Critical Appraisal Skills Programme in Spanish,CASPe)作为评判性阅读工具。使用牛津循证医学中心(Center for Evidence-Based Medicine.,CEBM)评估工具确定证据级别和推荐强度。结果共纳入25篇文献。ICU护士LTE护理的能力包括对患者的直接护理、以家庭为中心的护理以及护士在团队中的作用。该综述确定了3个类别的能力:作为患者、家庭与跨学科团队之间维护者的能力,在LTE方面的决策能力,在患者生命末期治疗和护理干预的能力。结论ICU护士在LTE方面需要具备相应的能力,这对患者的生活质量死亡尊严以及患者家庭应对悲伤的全面支持至关重要。

Sustained volume decreases in simple renal cysts after sclerotherapy using NBCA with or without hydrodissection

The present study aimed to determine the effectiveness of sclerotherapy using NBCA(Histoacryl Blue(?);***,Melgungen,Germany),with or without hydrodissection,for the treatment of simple renal *** and Methods:Patients who presented to an interventional radiology clinic for the diagnosis of symptomatic renal cysts which had previously been identified at an outpatient clinic were selected for inclusion in this study.A total of 28 patients were randomly divided into 2 groups,based on whether or not they underwent hydrodissection along with ultrasound-guided NBCA-based *** were performed at 0,7,and 180 days postprocedure to record the residual volume of the renal cysts and to determine the efficacy of the ***:A total of 32 cysts in 28 patients were treated with sclerotherapy,18(64%) females and 10(36%) *** average age of the patients was 61.8 years(range:33-89 years).All patients reported an improvement in symptoms associated with the existing renal cysts at 7 and 180 days post-procedure,and at 7 days post-procedure a statistically significant reduction in cyst volume was observed(all patients:96.8%;group A:96%;group B:97.6%).The reduced cyst volume was still observed 180 days post-procedure(all patients:98.6%;group A:98.2%;group B:98.9%).There was no significant difference between the two treatment ***: There is a significant and persistent reduction in the volume of renal cysts,in addition to an improvement of the associated symptoms,after treatment with NBCA-based sclerotherapy,with or without hydrodissection.

Resource manipulation reveals flexible allocation rules to growth and reproduction in a Mediterranean evergreen oak

Aims In plants,resource allocation to growth and reproduction may depart from trade-off expectations if(i)investment in growth and reproduction relies on different resource pools,(ii)allocation to reproduction is dependent upon reaching some growth threshold or(iii)reproduction is developmentally linked to growth,both functions relying on the same resource *** examined the effects of enhanced resource level on patterns of resource allocation to growth and reproduction in holm oak(Quercus ilex ***),a Mediterranean evergreen *** In the experimental year(2003),we manipulated the amount of soil nutrients in autumn(to increase nutrient uptake during shoot elongation in the following spring)and soil water in summer(to increase water uptake during acorn growth).Indicators of growth and male and female reproduction were estimated in the preexperimental(2002),experimental(2003)and post-experimental(2004)*** Findings Fertilized trees produced significantly longer shoots,but the number of female flowers per shoot was not affected by *** production of male catkins was also enhanced by *** did not affect the production of female flowers or abortion *** and female reproduction showed no consistent relationship in untreated trees,but resource addition elicited a growth-female reproduction trade-off in the experimental *** sign of this significant relationship changed in the post-experimental year,indicating the existence of lagged effects of resource manipulation on acorn ***,patterns of allocation to growth and reproduction varied as a function of sex,resource availability and year,a result consistent with extreme allocational plasticity in holm oak.
