Wireless Sensor Networks（WSNs） can be used for many applications, such as industrial automatic control, remote environmental monitoring and target tracking. The similar system is promising applications in forest fires can make a real-time monitoring and detection. Wireless sensor network consists of numerous small nodes in most situations, which small nodes are deployed in remote and inaccessible hostile environments or over large geographical areas. The large number of small nodes sense environmental changes and report them to cluster head node over network architect, which the deployment and maintenance should be easy and scalable. A new approach for forest fire monitoring and detection was present in this paper, which it is by using data aggregation in wireless sensor network. The proposed approach can provide faster and efficiently reaction to forest fires while consuming economically WSN’s energy, which has been validated and evaluated in extensive simulation experiments.

Environmental Impacts of Feeding High-fiber Diet to Pigs

A novel generalized predictive control（GPC） scheme employing proper orthogonal decomposition（POD） and least squares support vector machine（LS-SVM） has been utilized to regulate the distributed temperature profile in tubular chemical reactors to optimize the productivity. The POD technique is used to reduce the high dimensionality of the discretized temperature field, and then the Low dimensional approximate autoregressive exogenous（ARX） prediction models are acquired by ***, A GPC scheme is investigated based on ARX prediction models. A numerical application of the proposed GPC scheme shows that it had satisfied temperature control performance.

The concentration of volatile fatty acids （VFA） determined from a previous study was used to determine the concentration of carbon dioxide （CO2） and methane （CH4） in pig digesta using the model developed for ruminant animals. Digesta from the stomach, cecum and colon of pigs （n = 3 dietl） were used for the determination of VFA. The pigs were fed either a low fiber diet （LFD; 8.3% aNDF） as control, or one of the high-fiber diets （HFD, 22.4% aNDF; D1, D2 and D3） containing 1：2, 1：1 and 2：1, oats to barley ratios, respectively. Results indicated that the concentrations of CO2 and CH4 in pigs fed HFD were, on the average, 25.8 and 24.2%, respectively lower （P 〈 0.05） than pigs fed LFD. Pigs fed the highest oat to barley ratio also showed higher （P 〈 0.05） levels of CO2, （8.3%） and CH4 （5.1%）, compared to the average of the two lower ratios （CO2, 5.3% and CH4, 3.3%）. Molar proportions of VFA, CO2 and CH4 in the gut were in the order of VFA 〉 CO2 〉 CH4, at 53.0%, 28.6% and 18.4%, respectively, and CO2 and CH4 combined represented 47% of total gas.

Bacterial meningitis has a potentially devastating outcome if there is any delay in diagnosis and treatment. There are multiple routes at which bacteria could migrate into the subarachnoid space. Lumbar puncture bypasses the natural defense barrier of central nervous system and therefore carries a risk of transmitting infection to the meninges. We report a case of post spinal bacterial meningitis in a post partum lady who underwent spinal anaesthesia for emergency lower segment caesarean section. She developed signs and symptoms of meningitis twenty-eight hours post procedure. Her cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) analysis was suggestive of bacterial meningitis and she made a full recovery.

Influence of dietary patterns on the risk of acute myocardial infarction in China population： the INTERHEART China study

Background Some dietary patterns are risk factors for acute myocardial infarction （AMI）. Chinese traditional food and habits vary from other cultures. The present study determined whether different dietary patterns were associated with AMI in Chinese people. Methods We conducted a case-control study. There were 1312 cases of first AMI and 2235 control subjects who did not have previous angina, diabetes mellitus, hypertension or stroke. Controls were matched to cases on age and gender. Diet was measured with a validated, 19 item food frequency questionnaire. We identified three major dietary patterns using factor analysis： vitamin and microelement pattern （high intake of vegetables, fruits and tofu）, carbohydrate pattern （high in grain）, and fat and protein pattern （high in meat, fish, eggs and fried foods）. Results After adjusting for all risk factors, the vitamin and microelement pattern was inversely associated with AMI risk （global P value, 0.0001）. Compared with the first quartile, the adjusted ORs of AMI were 0.81 （95% CI： 0.66-1.00） for the second quartile, 0.67 （95% CI： 0.54-0.82） for the third, and 0.70 （95% CI： 0.56-0.88） for the fourth. Several dietary frequencies （serves per week） including vegetables, fruits and tofu were closely associated with decrease of AMI risk. Carbohydrate pattern showed weak relationship with AMI. We observed a U-shaped association between frequencies of fat and protein pattern and AMI risk. Excessive fat intake increased the AMI risk. The adjusted OR of AMI associated with the higher level of green vegetables was 0.37 （95% CI： 0.24-0.57） in women and 0.65 （95% CI： 0.51-0.82） in men （P value for heterogeneity, 0.0140）. Conclusions Unhealthy dietary intake can increase the AMI risk. Improving intake of vegetables, fruits and tofu have the potential to partially prevent the rising epidemic of cardiovascular disease in China.

Influence of socioeconomic status on acute myocardial infarction in the Chinese population： the INTERHEART China study

Background Many researches report that low socioeconomic status （SES） is associated with a higher risk of coronary heart disease （CHD）. This study aimed to determine whether levels of education, family income, and other SES were associated with acute myocardial infarction （AMI） in the Chinese population, and to compare the difference in this association between northern and southern regions in China. Methods We conducted a case-control study. Cases were first AMI （n=2909）. Controls （n=2947） were randomly selected and frequency matched to cases on age and sex. SES was measured using education, family income, possessions in the household, and occupation. Results Low levels of education （8 years） were more common in cases compared to controls （53.4% and 44.1%; P=0,0001）. After adjusting all risk factors, the level of education was associated with AMI risk in the Chinese population （P=-0.0005）. The odds ratio （OR） associated with education of 8 years or less, compared with more than 12 years （trade school/college/university） was 1.33 （95% CI 1.12-1.59）, and for education of 9-12 years 1.04 （95% CI 0.88-1.33）. The proportion of higher income population was more in controls than cases （39.4% and 35.3%）. Number of possessions and non-professional occupation were only weakly or not at all independently related to AMI. The adjusted OR associated with the lower education was 2.38 （95% CI 1.67-3.39） in women, and 1.18 （95% CI 0.99-1.42） in men （P=0.0001, for heterogeneity）. The interaction between levels of education and different regions was significant （P=0.0206, for interaction）. Conclusion Several socioeconomic factors including levels of education and income were closely associated with increase of AMI risk in China, most markedly in northeast and southern area. The effect of education was stronger towards AMI in women than men.

Gut Fermentation and Growth Performance of Pigs Fed High Fiber Diet

Ninety six pigs average weight 9.15 kg were used to study the effects of feeding diets containing multiple sources of dietary fiber （DF） on weight gain and concentration of fermentation products in the digestive tract. The experiment employed four diets and four pens diet1. Diets included a low fiber diet （LFD）, as control and three antibiotic free high-fiber diets （HFD） containing a 1：2, 1：1 or 2：1 oats：barley ratios. At the end of the 70 d feeding trial three pigs of comparable weight diefI were slaughtered. Digesta taken from the stomach, cecum and colon were used for the determination of volatile fatty acids （VFA）. Results indicated that inclusion of HFD increased （P 〈 0.05） feed intake but not weight gain. As revealed by the higher feed intake the nutritional value of HFD was approximately 88% of LFD. Also, as the amount of oats in the diet was increased, VFA concentration was also increased while isobutyrate decreased （P 〈 0.05）. Lower concentration of isobutyrate may indicate parallel reduction in other putatively toxic products of protein fermentation in the digestive tract. Thus, inclusion of multiple sources of fiber in the diet impacted feed intake and the products of gut fermentation in growing pigs.

Headaches Associated with N95 Mask Usage amongst Healthcare Workers in Operating Theatres during COVID-19 Pandemic: A Cross-Sectional Study

Introduction: N95 respirator masks are a cornerstone in the fight against the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. However, its use has side effects such as headaches. The primary aim of this study is to identify factors that may contribute to higher occurrences of headaches with wearing N95 masks. Methods: A cross-sectional study was conducted across healthcare providers in operating theatres of a tertiary hospital based in Singapore involved in the care of COVID-19 patients. The study involved a self-administered online questionnaire completed by all participants. Results: 176 participants were included into the study, of which 65 (36.9%) reported headaches associated with wearing N95 masks. Out of the 65 participants who experienced headaches, 28 (43.1%) reported experiencing “mild” headache, 30 (46.2%) reported experiencing “moderate” headache, and 7 (10.7%) reported experiencing “severe” headache. 44 participants (67.7%) reported that the headache has affected their work, and 20 participants (30.8%) required analgesia to relieve the headaches. Other symptoms associated with N95 mask usage include skin damage (12.3%), breathlessness (15.4%), giddiness (6.2%), nausea (6.2%) and ear pain (3.1%). Multivariate logistic regression analysis showed that participants younger than 32 years old (p = 0.001) and history of pre-existing headache disorders (p = 0.001) were associated with higher occurrences of headaches with wearing N95 masks. Conclusion: Our study showed that younger age and history of pre-existing headache disorders contribute to higher occurrences of headaches with N95 mask usage. These associations could be useful in identifying at-risk individuals so that precautions may be taken to reduce the occurrence of headaches when wearing N95 masks.

Significant controversies exist with regards to the optimal management of lateral pelvic lymph nodes metastases(mLLN)in patients with low rectal *** differing views held by Japanese and Western clinicians on the management of mLLN have been well ***,the adequacy of pelvic lymph node dissection(PLND)or neoadjuvant chemoradiation(NACRT)alone in addition to total mesorectal excision(TME)have recently come into question,due to the relatively high incidence of lateral local recurrences following PLND and TME,or NACRT and TME ***,a more selective approach to PLND has been suggested,involving a combination of neoadjuvant therapy,followed by PLND only to patients in whom the oncological benefit is likely to outweigh the risk of potential adverse events.A number of studies have attempted to retrospectively identify certain nodal characteristics on preoperative imaging,such as nodal size,appearance,and size reduction following neoadjuvant ***,no consensus has been reached regarding the optimal criteria for a selective approach to PLND,partly due to the heterogeneity and retrospective nature of most of these *** review aims to provide an overview of recent evidence with regards to the diagnostic challenges,considerations for,and outcomes of the current management strategies for mLLN in rectal cancer patients.
