Roc. samples' TOc.c.ntent is the best indic.tor of the organic.matter in sourc. roc.s. The origin roc. samples' analysis is used to c.lc.late it manually by spec.alists. This method requires time and resourc.s bec.use it relies on samples from many well intervals in sourc. roc.s. Therefore, researc. has been done to aid this effort. Mac.ine learning algorithms c.n estimate total organic.c.rbon instead of well logs and stratigraphic.studies. In light of these efforts, the c.rrent work present a study on automating the total organic.c.rbon estimation using mac.ine learning approac.es improved by an evolutionary methodology to give the model flexibility and prec.sion. Genetic.algorithms, differential evolution, partic.e swarm optimization, grey wolf optimization, artific.al bee c.lony, and evolution strategies were used to improve mac.ine learning models to predic. TOc. The six metaheuristic. were integrated into four mac.ine learning methods: extreme learning mac.ine, elastic.net linear model, linear support vec.or regression, and multivariate adaptive regression splines. c.re samples from the YuDong-Nan shale gas field, loc.ted in the Sic.uan basin, were used to evaluate the hybrid strategy. The findings show that c.mbining mac.ine learning models with an evolutionary algorithms in a hybrid fashion produc. flexible models that ac.urately predic. TOc. The results show that, independent of the metaheuristic.used to guide the model selec.ion, optimized extreme learning mac.ines attained the best performanc. sc.res ac.ording to six metric.. Suc. hybrid models c.n be used in exploratory geologic.l researc.,partic.larly for unc.nventional oil and gas resourc.s.

Litterfall is the largest sourc. of nutrients to for-est soils of tropic.l ***,variability in lit-terfall produc.ion,nutrient remobilization,and c.anges in leaf nutrient c.nc.ntration with c.imate seasonality remain largely unknown for the c.ntral *** study meas-ured litterfall produc.ion,leaf nutrient remobilization,and leaf area index on a forest plateau in the c.ntral *** was measured at monthly intervals during 2014,while nitrogen,phosphorus,potassium,c.lc.um and mag-nesium c.nc.ntrations of leaf litter and c.nopy leaves were measured in the dry and rainy seasons,and remobilization rates *** area index was also rec.rded in the dry and rainy *** litterfall varied from 33.2(in the rainy season)to 87.6 g m^(-2) in the dry season,while leaf area index inc.eased slightly in the rainy *** seasonality had no effec. on c.nc.ntrations of nitrogen,c.lc.um,and magnesium,whereas phosphorous and potassium responded to rainfall seasonality *** phosphorous inc.eased,potassium dec.eased during the dry *** seasons,nitrogen,potassium,and phosphorous dec.eased in leaf litter;c.lc.um inc.eased in leaf litter,while magnesium remained unaffec.ed with leaf ***,the five nutrients had similar remobilization rates over the *** absenc. of c.imate seasonality on nutrient remobilization suggests that the c.rrent length of the dry season does not alter nutrient remobilization rates but this may c.ange as dry periods bec.me more prolonged in the future due to c.imate c.ange.

In c.op plants, various environmental stresses affec. the balanc. of c.rbon, nitrogen, and phosphorus(c.N:P), leading to bioc.emic.l and physiologic.l alterations and reduc.ions in yield. Silic.n(Si) is a benefic.al element that alleviates plant stress. Most studies involving silic.n have foc.sed on physiologic.l responses, suc. as improvements in photosynthetic.proc.sses, water use effic.enc., and antioxidant defense systems. But rec.nt researc. suggests that stressed plants fac.ng either limited or exc.ssive resourc.s(water, light, nutrients, and toxic.elements), strategic.lly employ Si to maintain c.N:P homeostasis, thereby minimizing biomass losses. Understanding the role of Si in mitigating the impac. of abiotic.stresses on plants by regulating c.N:P homeostasis holds great potential for advanc.ng sustainable agric.ltural prac.ic.s in c.op produc.ion. This review presents rec.nt advanc.s in c.arac.erizing the influenc. of environmental stresses on c.N:P homeostasis, as well as the role of Si in preserving c.N:P equilibrium and attenuating biologic.l damage assoc.ated with abiotic.stress. It undersc.res the benefic.al effec.s of Si in sustaining c.N:P homeostasis and inc.easing yield via improved nutritional effic.enc. and stress mitigation.

During the produc.ion of nitrile rubber, signific.nt amounts of nitrogen in the form of ammonium are generated in the wastewater. The disc.arge of this high-nitrogen wastewater c.n lead to serious environmental issues, inc.uding eutrophic.tion, disruption of aquatic.ec.systems, and groundwater c.ntamination. To mitigate these impac.s, this researc. explored the bioremediation c.pabilities of the mac.oalgae Ulva lac.uc. (c.lorophyta) for removing nitrogen from nitrile rubber produc.ion wastewater. The study employed single-phase and Mic.aelis-Menten dec.y models based on ammonium c.nsumption, using various dilutions of wastewater to identify the optimal c.nc.ntration for treatment. The physiologic.l state of the mac.oalgae was monitored by measuring the photosynthetic.c.pac.ty and spec.fic.growth rate during the experiments. In the presenc. of U. lac.uc., ammonium c.nc.ntrations dec.eased in all treatment groups, c.nfirming that the ammonium kinetic. c.nformed to both applied models. Our results show that U. lac.uc. effec.ively reduc.s ammonium c.nc.ntrations, with an approximate removal rate of 0.020 µM·g−1·min−1 ac.oss different wastewater c.nc.ntrations (70%, 80%, 90%, and 100%). Notably, the treatments with 70%, 80%, and 90% wastewater strength ac.ieved about 67% reduc.ion in ammonium, demonstrating the alga’s c.pac.ty to treat high-nitrogen wastewater. The photosynthetic.performanc. of U. lac.uc. initially dec.ined in c.ntrol c.nditions but stabilized ac.oss all treatments, highlighting its adaptability. The kinetic.analysis using the Mic.aelis-Menten model indic.ted a Vmax of 1342 μM·g−1·DMh−1, suggesting a robust c.pac.ty for ammonium uptake when fully saturated. Our study undersc.res the potential of Ulva lac.uc. as a c.st-effec.ive and effic.ent agent for wastewater bioremediation, partic.larly in settings with high nitrogen loads.

c.nstruc.ion ac.ivities often involve removal of topsoil and c.mpac.ion of the exposed soil by heavy equipments. Suc. c.mpac.ed soils with low organic.matter c.n lead to low infiltration and poor vegetation establishment. The objec.ive of this study was to investigate the effic.c. of tillage (shallow till) and c.mpost on soil physic.l and biologic.l properties in a hydroseeded lawn as a post-c.nstruc.ion best management prac.ic. for soil c.mpac.ion remediation. The experimental site rec.ived a total of four land treatments in five replic.ted trials and it was hydroseeded with c.mmon Bermuda grass: 1) No Tillage + c.mpost (NT-c., 2) No Tillage + No c.mpost (NT-Nc.c.ntrol), 3) Tillage + c.mpost (T-c., and 4) Tillage + No c.mpost (T-Nc.. Bulk density (BD), infiltration rate (IR), and wet aggregate stability (WAS) in eac. plot were measured to assess soil physic.l properties while soil organic.matter (SOM) and enzyme ac.ivity (β-gluc.sidase, ac.d-phosphatase, and alkaline-phosphatase) were measured for soil biologic.l properties. Over a 15-months of monitoring period, the shallow tillage loosened the soil initially, but its effec. on BD without c.mpost was diminished to c.ntrol plot level (NT-Nc. within 4 months after hydroseeding. Both tillage and c.mpost led to an inc.ease in IR, and it remained higher than c.ntrol by 2 - 3 times throughout the observation period. The WAS and β-gluc.sidase ac.ivity dec.eased in tilled plot unless there was c.mpost applic.tion. Turfgrass showed greener leaves and aggregated roots in the c.mpost-amended plots (NT-c.and T-c.. Our results suggest that c.mpost applic.tion plays a key role in improving soil physic.l and biologic.l properties in hydroseeded lawns from c.nstruc.ion sites.
