The catalytic effect of metal oxide/alumina whiskers（CeO;, Mn;O;, niO, Co;O;, Fe;O;, Cr;O;/AW） was evaluated on their ability to drive the nitridation of silicon and to generate mesoporous fibrous silicon *** powder with different particles size along with the catalyst was nitridized at 1300 °C for 5 h in nitrogen and nitrogen diluted with 10 vol% ammonia atmospheres. nitridation degree of silicon up to 99% was recorded using 1.5 wt% CeO;and Fe;O;catalysts in nitrogen-ammonia atmosphere. The catalyzed samples contain submicronic silicon nitride fibres with a diameter of 400–500 nm and a length of up to few micrometers. The compressive strength of 46 ± 1 MPa was measured for silicon samples catalyzed with nickel oxide/alumina whiskers and nitridized in n;/10 vol%nH;atmosphere. Porous silicon nitride networks were produced with 45–52% porosity, pore sizes in the range of 370–1200 nm and median pore in the range of 495–1655 nm.

Polyarteritis nodosa(PAn) is one of the systemic vasculitis that affects the media wall of arteries of small and medium diameter. Diagnosis proves difficult due to the unspecific symptoms that dominate the clinical profile. Liver involvement is very diverse, ranging from the development of cirrhotic liver disease to acute abdomen presentation that requires surgery because of liver rupture. The management of these patients requires an expert multidisciplinary team. There are several cases in the literature that describe a sudden liver rupture as the first manifestation of a PAn. In this paper we present the case of a 75 years old patient without any previous disease, who is subjected to major hepatic resection for spontaneous liver rupture.

Cs-containing FAU（Y）-type zeolite catalysts were prepared by conventional and novel ion exchange procedures followed by incipient wetness impregnation with CsOH. The novel ion exchange procedure involved hydrothermal treatment of naY zeolite in aqueous solution of CsCl at 140-200 ℃ for 6-24 h. The samples were characterized by low-temperature nitrogen adsorption, X-ray fluorescence analysis, X-ray powder diffraction, scanning electron microscopy, 23na, 27Al and 133Cs magic angle spinning nuclear magnetic resonance, CO2 and nH3-Temperature programmed desorption. The results show that hydrothermal treatment at 200 ℃ allows to obtain higher degrees of ion-exchange （up to 83%） with respect to conventional method giving maximum 66%- 69%. Catalytic properties of Cs-containing FAU（Y） were studied in aniline methylation. The yield of nomethylani- line is shown to correlate with catalyst＇s basicity. The best catalyst performance was achieved over the catalyst with the highest ion-exchange degree impregnated with CsOH. The selectivity to n-methylaniline over this catalyst reached 96.4%.

Bioengineered scaffolds are crucial components in artificial tissue *** general,these scaffolds provide inert three-dimensional(3D)surfaces supporting cell ***,some scaffolds can affect the phenotype of cultured cells,especially,adherent stromal cells,such as *** we report on unique properties of 3D fibroin/gelatin materials,which may rapidly induce expression of adhesion molecules,such as ICAM-1 and VCAM-1,in cultured primary murine embryonic fibroblasts(MEFs).In contrast,two-dimensional(2D)fibroin/gelatin films did not show significant effects on gene expression profiles in fibroblasts as compared to 3D culture ***,TnF expression was induced in MEFs cultured in 3D fibroin/gelatin scaffolds,while genetic or pharmacological TnF ablation resulted in diminished ICAM-1 and VCAM-1 expression by these *** selective MAPK inhibitors,we uncovered critical contribution of JnK to 3D-induced upregulation of these adhesion ***,we observed ICAM-1/VCAM-1-dependent adhesion of lymphocytes to fibroblasts cultured in 3D fibroin/gelatin scaffolds,but not on 2D fibroin/gelatin films,suggesting functional reprogramming in stromal cells,when exposed to 3D ***,we observed significant infiltration of lymphocytes into 3D fibroin/gelatin,but not into collagen scaffolds in vivo upon subcapsular kidney implantation in *** our data highlight the important features of fibroin/gelatin scaffolds,when they are produced as 3D sponges rather than 2D films,which should be considered when using these materials for tissue engineering.

We applied a multi-taxa approach integrating the co-occurrence of plants,ground beetles,spiders and springtails with soil parameters(temperatures and chemical characteristics)in order to describe the primary succession along two glacier forelands in the Maritime Alps(Italy),a hotspot of Mediterranean *** compared these successions to those from Central Alps:Maritime glacier forelands markedly differ for their higher values of species richness and species *** to our expectation,Maritime glacier forelands follow a‘replacement change model’,like continental succession of Inner Alps and differently from other peripheral *** propose that the temperatures along these Mediterranean glacier forelands are warmer than those along other Alpine glacier forelands,which promote the faster species ***,we found that early and mid successional stages of the investigated glaciers are richer in cold-adapted and endemic species than the later ones:we confirmed that the‘replacement change’model disadvantages pioneer,cold-adapted *** the overall correspondence among coldadapted and endemic species,the most threatened in this climate phase,our results raise new concerns about the extinction risk of these *** also describe supraglacial habitat of Maritime glaciers demonstrating that supraglacial debris represents an environment decoupled from the regional climate and may have an important role as refugium for coldadapted and hygrophilous plant and animal species,whose survival can be threatened by climate change and by a rapid ecological succession in the adjacent forelands.

Comparison of bioavailability and transporters gene expression of four iron fortificants added to infant cereals

Iron deficiency is one of the most important nutritional disorders around the world. To reduce this health problem in infants, most countries have developed different iron fortification programs as a long-term strategy. However, it is necessary to select the best iron source to get the highest bioavailability with the lowest impact on the organoleptic properties of the foods. The aim of this research was to assess the in vitro bioavailability and intestinal cellular transport of four iron sources (electrolytic iron: EI, ferrous fumarate: FF, a micronized and dispersible ferric pyrophosphate: MDFP, and ferrous sulphate heptahydrated: FSH) used to fortify infant cereals. Fortified cereals were in vitro digested and soluble fractions were then incubated in Caco-2 cells to study iron retention, transport and uptake. Moreover, mRnA expression of iron transporters and ferritin formation were also measured in cells incubated with the iron standard salts. Iron solubility, uptake percentage, transport and uptake efficiencies by the Caco-2 cells were significantly higher in cereals fortified with FSH than with EI, obtaining intermediate values for the other two iron fortificants. MDFP induced higher expression of iron transporters Zip-14 and HEPH than other iron sources. FSH promoted the highest iron storage protein ferritin, followed by FF and MDFP, while EI presented the lowest in vitro bioavailability due to its low solubility. This work demonstrated that iron absorption, storage, and gene expression of transporters depend on the source of iron. These are important challenges to be taken into consideration when assessing the potential of iron fortificants.

Testicular microlithiasis （TM） is one of the symptoms of testicular dysgenesis syndrome （TDS）. TM is particularly interesting as an informative marker of testicular germ cell tumors （TGCTs）. KIT ligand gene （KITLG）, BCL2 antagonist/killer 1 （BAK1）, and sprouty RTK signaling antagonist 4 （SPRY4） genes are associated with a high risk of TGCTs, whereas bone morphogenetic protein 7 gene （BMP7）, transforming growth factor beta receptor 3 gene （TGFBR3）, and homeobox D cluster genes （HOXD） are related to TDS. Using polymerase chain reaction-restriction fragment length polymorphism （PCR-RFLP） analysis, we investigated allele and genotype frequencies for KITLG （rs995030, rs1508595）, SPRY4 （rs4624820, rs6897876）, BAK1 （rs210138）, BMP7 （rs388286）, TGFBR3 （rs12082710）, and HOXD （rs17198432） in 142 TGCT patients, 137 TM patients, and 153 fertile men （control group）. We found significant differences in the KITLG GG_rs995030 genotype in TM （P= 0.01） and TGCT patients （P = 0.0005） compared with the control. We also revealed strong associations between KITLGrs1508595 and TM （G allele, P = 0.003; GG genotype, P= 0.01） and between KITLG_rs1508595 and TGCTs （G allele, P-- 0.0001; GG genotype, P = 0.0007）. Moreover, there was a significant difference in BMP7_rs388286 between the TGCT group and the control （T allele, P = 0.00004; TT genotype, P = 0.00006） and between the TM group and the control （T allele, P= 0.04）. HOXDalso demonstrated a strong association with TGCTs （rs17198432 A allele, P = 0.0001; AA genotype, P = 0.001）. Furthermore, significant differences were found between the TGCT group and the control in the BAK1_rs210138 G allele （P= 0.03） and the GG genotype （P= 0.01）. KITLG and BMP7genes, associated with the development of TGCTs, may also be related to TM. In summary, the KITLG GG_rs995030, GG_rs1508595, BMP7 TT_rs388286, HOXD AA_rs17198432, and BAK1 GG_rs210138 genotypes were associated with a high risk of TGCT development.
