Pharmacokinetic Study and Toxicity of Leukovir: A new Combined Drug for the Treatment of Multiple Sclerosis

Leukovir, an enteric-coated tablet, is the original drug product for internal use. The well-known nucleosides cladribine and ribavirin are the active ingredients of the drug product leukovir. Pharmacokinetic parameters of the drug product for the internal use of leukovir active ingredients have been established. The cladribine half-absorption period was t1/2a = 49.5 h, C0 = 276.4 μg/ml, Cmax = 6.0 μg/ml. Distribution and accumulation parameters (Vd, Vss and AUC) have indicated that the drug distribution between the blood cells and blood plasma takes place in the same way, irrespective of the dosage form. Cladribine half-life period is t1/2e = 0.62 hours. The molecule total clearance and average lifetime in the body in the case of subcutaneous drug administration are approximately the same. Ribavirin is characterized by a half-absorption period of t1/2a = 0.71 h, C0 = 115.6 μg/ml and Cmax = 75.5 μg/ml. Ribavirin total volume of distribution (Vd = 1.3 l/kg) and stationary volume of distribution (Vss = 1.64 l/kg) were practically similar to leukovir when administered subcutaneously. The AUC value = 504.2 μg h/ml, which is 2.5 times less than that in the case of drug form administration. Leukovir was regarded as slightly toxic in an acute toxicity study. The risk of cumulation for this drug product is low.

non steady state thermal conductivity of ABS was estimated using an analytical approach in a Cold Climate Chamber at ?10?C and ?14?C. Two hollow cylinders of ABS of varying thickness were used to estimate the conductivity. The material was porous but the porosity was unknown. This paper is a case study to understand, if it is reasonable to estimate the thermal conductivity using the analytical varying thickness approach.

How much carbon can the Siberian boreal taiga store： a case study of partitioning among the above-ground and soil pools

In the context of global carbon cycle management, accurate knowledge of carbon content in forests is a relevant issue in contemporary forest ecology. We measured the above-ground and soil carbon pools in the darkconiferous boreal taiga. We compared measured carbon pools to those calculated from the forest inventory records containing volume stock and species composition data. The inventory data heavily underestimated the pools in the study area（Stolby State nature Reserve, central Krasnoyarsk Territory, Russian Federation）. The carbon pool estimated from the forest inventory data varied from 25（t ha-1）（low-density stands） to 73（t ha-1）（highly stocked stands）. Our estimates ranged from 59（t ha-1）（lowdensity stands） to 147（t ha-1）（highly stocked stands）. Our values included living trees, standing deadwood, living cover, brushwood and litter. We found that the proportion of biomass carbon（living trees）： soil carbon varied from99：1 to 8：2 for fully stocked and low-density forest stands,respectively. This contradicts the common understanding that the biomass in the boreal forests represents only16–20 % of the total carbon pool, with the balance being the soil carbon pool.

InTRODUCTIOn The saiga antelope[Saiga tatarica(Linnaeus,1766)]is an extant representative of the large herbivorous mammals’complex of Pleistocene steppe-tundra ecosystem(Bannikov et al.1961;Baryshnikov et al.1998).In the course of its evolutionary history,under the influence of global climate changes and later anthropogenic factors,the species experienced multiple changes in number and *** the last Ice Age,the saiga range in Eurasia was integral and achieved its maximum in the entire species history:In the west,it reached the Pyrenees and the Alps,and in the east inhabited Yakutia and Chukotka(Kahlke 2014).The disintegration of the range is directly related and correlates well with the destruction of tundra ecosystems(Baryshnikov et al.1998).Currently,there are two subspecies of the saiga:the Mongolian saiga,***(=***),and nominative subspecies,*** Mongolian subspecies is represented by a single saiga population in *** are four populations of the nominative subspecies in the arid ecosystems of Kazakhstan(Ural,Betpakdala,Ustyurt populations)and Russia(northwest Pre-Caspian population).

Dear editor,Family physicians often serve as the primary resource for parents seeking medical treatment for their children,and it is not uncommon for children with medical emergencies to be brought into primary care offices instead of local emergency departments(EDs).Although estimated incidence rates of pediatric emergencies in primary care offices vary based on the definition used,the number of patients seen,and clinic location,[1-3]any healthcare provider who sees pediatric patients should be ready for immediate medical intervention to minimize adverse outcomes.[4,5]Various studies in the USA have shown that outpatient offices are not adequately prepared for pediatric emergencies,whether that is defined as stocking recommended equipment,having policies for the transport of patients to EDs,engaging in mock codes,or being certified in Advanced Pediatric Life Support(APLS)or Basic Life Support(BLS).[1-3]This deficit in preparedness exists despite the presence of multiple nation-and state-wide guidelines on the subject,including a policy by the American Academy of Pediatrics.[3]Limited information exists on the preparedness of primary care physicians for pediatric emergencies in other nations.

Aspergillus oryzae reduces IgE binding ability of allergenic egg white proteins

Egg white proteins are one of the major allergens. The objective of this study was to investigate the effect of Aspergillus oryzae cultivation on IgE binding ability of egg white proteins. Effect of A. oryzae on egg white proteins was determined using ninhydrin method,SDS-PAGE, ELISA, fluorescence FITC labeling, MALDITOF-MS and LC-MS/MS analysis. Adding mycelium of A. oryzae ATCC 1011 and 16868 substantially reduced the IgE binding ability of acidified egg white after 24 h incubation. The binding capacity of egg white proteins to IgE in plasma from four egg allergy patients was almost completely lost after incubation with mycelium of ATCC16868. Results from SDS-PAGE, free amino acid analysis,MALDI-TOF-MS and LC-MS/MS indicated that there was no substantial protein degradation during ***, the reduction of IgE binding ability of egg white proteins during A. oryzae treatment was probably due to a loss of ～1700 Da mass including a fragment of the ovomucoid n terminus.
