novel essentially distinct from already known (methods of hydrogenation of fullerenes (C60 and C70) or fullerite) method for the synthesis of highly hydrogenated carbon molecules is developed;such approach is perspective hydrogen capacity accumulators. First, the reactionary conditions are created for the realization of the process of fullerenization as direct transformation of molecules of aromatic hydrocarbons, pyridine and ethanol into carbon molecules, fulleranes (С60Н8-С60Н60 and С70Н8-С70Н44) and quasi-fulleranes (CnHn-6-CnHn-2 (n = 20 - 46)) containing up to 5.7 wt% hydrogen. X-ray amorphous powders of hydrogenated carbon molecules in gram amounts are obtained. Appreciable dehydrogenation of such samples of fulleranes and quasi-fulleranes at ~50°C is began, while dehydrogenation of synthesized from fullerene (or fullerite) fulleranes is observed only at temperatures above 400°C. Methods of nMR, IR spectroscopy, mass spectrometry MALDI and temperature-programmed desorption mass spectrometry EI are used for the study of condensed products of fullerenization of precursors molecules.

This study analyzed Heart Rate Variability in a large sample of active young subjects within a narrow age range (18 to 25), using time and frequency domain methods and a Poincaré plot. Heart rate was recorded (beat to beat) for 30 minutes at rest in 200 healthy subjects divided into 4 groups: 50 sportsmen (20.54 ± 1.52 years);50 active men (21.22 ± 1.31 years);50 sportswomen (20.10 ± 1.87 years) and 50 active women (20.92 ± 1.87 years). Significant differences were found for most parameters between athletes and active subjects (male and female) but not between genders. Percentile distributions were provided for all parameters (according to gender and physical activity level) to be used as references in future researches.

On April 26-27, 2013, the Step by Step Foundation hosted the Second International Spinal Cord Repair Meeting at the Fira Barcelona Convention Center in Hospitalet de Llobregat, Spain, highlighting some of the exciting research including clinical trials which show promise for treatments for this devastating disorder. This meeting brought together clinicians, clinical scientists and molecular biologists from more than 10 countries to evaluate current knowledge on clinical, cellular, and biomolecular aspects of spinal cord injury. A major goal of the conference in advancing the translation of research data to the clinic was to promote multi-pronged approaches for therapy of this complex problem.

AIM To investigated the real-world effectiveness and safety of various regimens of interferon-free treatments in patients infected with hepatitis C virus(HCV).METHODS We performed an observational study to analyze different antiviral treatments administered to 462 HCV-infected patients, of which 56.7% had liver cirrhosis. HCV RnA after 4 wk of treatment and at 12 wk after treatment sustained virologic response(SVR) as well as serious adverse events(SAEs) was analyzed first for the whole cohort and then separately in patients who met or did not meet the inclusion criteria of a clinical trial(CT-met and CT-unmet, respectively).RESULTS The most frequently prescribed treatment was simeprevir/sofosbuvir(36.4%), followed by sofosbuvir/ledipasvir(24.9%) and ombitasvir/paritaprevir/ritonavir(r)/dasabuvir(19.9%). Ribavirin(RBV) was administered in 198 patients(42.9%). SVRs occurred in 437/462 patients(94.6%). The SVRs ranged between 93.3% and 100% for genotypes 1-4. SVRs were achieved in 96.2% patients in the CTmet group vs 91.9% patients in the CT-unmet group(P = 0.049). Undetectable HCV RnA at week 4 occurred in 72.9% of the patients. In the univariate analysis, the factors associated with SVRs were lower liver stiffness, absence of cirrhosis, higher platelet count, higher albumin levels, no RBV dose reduction, undetectable HCV RnA at week 4 and CT-met group. In the multivariate analysis, only albumin was an independent predictor of treatment failure(P = 0.04). Eleven patients(2.4%) developed SAEs; 5.2% and 0.7% of the patients in the CT-unmet and CT-met groups, respectively(P = 0.003).COnCLUSIOn A high proportion of patients with HCV infection achieved SVRs. For patients who did not meet the CT criteria, treatment regimens must be optimized.

The goal of this study was to isolate and molecular identification of basidiomycetes species with laccase activity from soil and vegetative mycelial aggregations in different forest *** species were isolated from soil and mycelia,using different techniques,samples collected from five different geographic regions with dominant vegetation of Pinusspp.,Abiesspp.,and Quercus spp.,in state of Michoacan,*** activity of fungal isolates was analyzed by guaiacol *** number of basidiomycetes with laccase activity were isolated from mycelialagrigations,collected from Atecuaro（pinus and oak forest）,Michoacán,*** of laccase positive fungi was carried out by sequence comparison and phylogenetic analysis of internal transcribed region（ITS1F-5.8S-ITS4B） of r DnA genes with reference taxa.A total of fourteen strains（14） with high laccase activity of basidiomycetes were identified in thirteen genera i.e.,Bjerkandera,Corticiaceae,Coriolopsis,Echinodontium,Ganoderma,Hexagonia,Irpex,Limonomyces,Psathyrella,Peniophora,Phlebiopsis,Trametes and Trichaptum.

Starch is a very important biopolymer in the food industry. The velvet bean (M. pruriens) is an excellent potential starch source containing approximately 520 g starch per kg. The objective of this study was to evaluate the physicochemical and functional properties of velvet bean depigmented starch. The starch granules appear oval and spherical shaped. The colour registered L*, a*, b* values of 44.9, 0.324 and 0.341 respectively. The chemical composition registered values of moisture, ash, fat, protein, fibre and nFE of 110.5, 5.8, 5.7, 0.0, 34 and 954.5 g/kg respectively, as well as amylose levels of 215.3 g/kg. Gelatinization onset (To), peak (Tp) and final (Tf) temperatures were of 74.23°C, 80.57°C and 86.39°C. The solubility (3.1% - 16.2%), swelling power (SP) (2.86% - 16.17%) and water absorption capacity (WAC) (2.67 - 15.95 g water/g starch) were directly correlated to temperature (60°C - 90°C). The enthalpy values (4.10 - 13.47 j/g) were directly correlated to the time (1 - 21 days). The retrogradation increased as time increased. The viscosity of M. pruriens depigmented starch decreased slightly during the heating stages and then increased during cooling and the refrigeration and freezing stability registered syneresis ranges from 17.65 to 23.18 mL/50mL and from 16.4 to 22.6 mL/50mL respectively, indicating that the depigmented starch was unstable in heating-cooling processes.

Food Behavior of Pupils in the City of Bobo-Dioulasso (Burkina Faso)

Introduction: Diet is a determinant of chronic non transmissible diseases. The aim of this study was to describe pupils’ diet in the city of Bobo-Dioulasso (Burkina Faso). Methods: This was a descriptive cross-sectional study that took place from March to April 2016, among 1st, 4th and 7th form pupils of public and private schools in the city of Bobo-Dioulasso. Diet survey methods were a reminder of the last 24 hours and the questionnaire of consumption frequency. Results: A total of 1993 pupils were surveyed. The mean age was 17.5 ± 3.6 years and the sex ratio 0.7. The majority of pupils (90.5%) reported eating at least 3 meals a day. Dietary recommendations were different according to food groups. For example, vegetables (90.0%), fruits (75.4%) and dairy products (79.3%) were the least well consumed foods compared to recommendations. Protein and starch intake were inadequate among these pupils with 39.7% and 58.2% respectively. Almost 1/4 had a regular weekly alcohol consumption (23.4%) while an excessive consumption of sweet drinks and fried foods was noted in 12.7% and 28.2% of them, respectively. Conclusion: This study has revealed a general insufficiency in the recommended dietary intakes of fruit, vegetables, proteins, starchy foods and dairy products among pupils, and on the other hand, a regular consumption of fatty, sugary and alcoholic foods for about a fifth of them. An intervention program such as “Communication for Continuous Behavior Change” would help improve these habits.
