The objective of this study was to investigate whether treatment with Tribulus terrestris(Tt)has any impact on the testicular morphology and function in a rodent *** male rats were divided into a control group and a group receiving 100 mg kg^(-1) body weight of Tt *** 4o days of experiment,the animals were submitted to euthanasia;epididymal tail spermatozoa were collected;and spermatozoa concentration,motility,and viability were *** addition,testicles were collected and processed for histomorphometrical *** were compared using the Student's t-test and considered significant when P<*** concentration,motility,and viability showed no difference between the ***,testicular weight and volume,seminiferous tubule diameter,tunica propria surface density,seminiferous epithelium surface density,and intertubular compartment surface density were statistically similar between the ***,seminiferous epithelium height and tubular lumen surface density were augmented in animals treated with *** with Tt does not cause a major impact on testicular morphology,promoting only subtle *** difference on spermatozoa parameters was observed.

Sickle cell disease (SCD) is a genetic disorder characterized by a chronic inflammatory process, and new biomarkers have been studied as promising molecules for understanding the inflammation in its pathophysiology. The hemolysis and the release of molecules associated to the hemoglobin (Hb) catabolism, such as free Hb, iron, and heme, generating a oxidant environment with production of reactive oxygen and nitrogen species. The immune system plays a very important role in the inflammation, with cells secreting pro-inflammatory cytokines and chemokines. There is also a nitric oxide (NO) resistance state, with an impaired NO bioactivity, leading to a vascular dys-function;activation of platelet, leukocytes, erythrocytes, and endothelial cells, with expression of adhesion molecules and its ligands, and several receptors, that altogether participate at inflammatory process. During inflammation, there is an increase of dendritic cells (DCs) expresse toll like receptors (TLR), but the role of DCs and TLR in SCD pathogenesis is unclear. Also, there are molecules contributing for enhance the endothelium dysfunction, such as homocysteine that has been associated with vascular complications in the pathology of other diseases and it may contribute to the vascular complications presented by SCD patients. Circulating microparticules (MPs) levels are augmented in several diseases and have been described in SCD, where cells membrane compounds are associated to cell’s thrombotic and coagulation state, such as tissue factor and phosphatidylserine (PS), which may contribute to endothelial dysfunction. The knowledge of all these biomarkers may contribute to new therapeutic approach discover, improveing SCD patient life quality.

Sickle cell anemia (SCA) is a genetically inherited hemolytic disorder characterized by chronic inflammation. Cytokine expression affects the pivotal pathways that contribute to disease pathogenesis, but the mechanisms involved are not well understood. SCA is associated with a proinflammatory state, and an enhanced inflammatory response occurs during vasoocclusive crisis. The immune system thus plays an important role in this inflammatory condition, with several cell types secreting pro-inflammatory cytokines that contribute to the occurrence of common cyclical events in SCA patients, such as hemolysis, vascular occlusion and inflammation. Studies of these cytokines and chemokines in SCA patients have clarified the mechanisms that underlie this disease and highlighted the need for a better understanding of cytokine participation in SCA pathophysiology.

盘状星系中的棒结构特征与星系自身所处环境及整体恒星形成特征之间存在复杂的相互关系。利用细致的星系形态特征测量计划Galaxy Zoo DECaLS中的数据构建了一组目前最大的具有同样恒星质量分布的强棒、弱棒和无棒星系样本。通过引入星系所处暗晕质量及相空间特征来控制星系所处的环境效应之后,进一步对比研究强棒、弱棒和无棒星系的恒星形成特征。研究表明,有棒星系中的恒星形成熄灭的比例系统地高于无棒星系,且强棒的效应更为明显。但是,对于仍处于恒星形成主序上的星系来说,强棒、弱棒和无棒星系的恒星形成特征并没有显著差别。以上结果表明,星系中的棒特征在其存在的时标中可能使部分星系迅速地从恒星形成转入熄灭状态。

Cytomegalovirus is the most frequent agent of congenital viral infections,affecting approximately 0.2%-2.4%of live births in different countries[1-7].Universal screening for congenital cytomegalovirus infection in newborns is not a standard practice considering cost-benefit issues and viabil-ity of diagnostic ***,most newborns are asympto-matic and there is no effective treatment for this population[2-5].

The industrial energy diagnosis presented in this work occurred in a milk product cooperative, from an analysis of energy consumption in the main milk industrialization and a diagnosis of energy end uses of lighting and cooling systems. Almost all stages of milk industrialization are used hot water and steam generated in the boilers. The largest electricity consumption in this sector is by electric motors followed by cooling needed to maintain the quality of milk products. Because energy costs represent a significant portion of the monthly cost of the company, an analysis of the energy costs of the past two years to check the consumption of active and reactive energy and power demand contracted is performed. This paper presents the main results of an energy audit in a milk processing industry in southern Brazil.

Objective: To evaluate whether the inoculation of contaminated cultures in the peritoneal cavity of mice could implement decontamination of Acanthamoeba ***: Suspensions of Acanthamoeba, Acanthamoeba polyphaga ATCC 30461, or Acanthamoeba spp. isolated from soil(Un B13 strain) were inoculated in the peritoneal cavity of Swiss mice(n = 24). After 1, 6, 12, or 24 h of exposure the peritoneal cavity was washed and assessed for the presence of bacteria, fungi, and ***: After 1 h of intraperitoneal inoculation at least 97% of the bacteria and 96% of the fungi(P < 0.05) and 99% of the bacteria(P < 0.05) were successfully eliminated from the ATCC 30461 strain and from the soil isolate Un B13 strain, respectively. This method also allowed the recovery of most trophozoites and cysts from both Acanthamoeba cultures at the end of 24 ***: Our data demonstrated that this technique has great potential for decontamination of Acanthamoeba cultures in a short period of time.

本研究采用Eberhart及Russell模型(1966)就7个橡胶无性系在巴西圣保罗州5个不同植胶环境中的茎围生长和干胶产量的基因型×环境互作及稳定性进行了分析。试验中茎围生长及干胶产量分别测定了10个和4个年份。研究结果显示,年份×地点及地点为基因型×环境互作的主要变异来源。稳定性分析结果表明,GT1和IAN873分别为茎围生长和干胶产量稳定性最高的无性系,其回归系数均接近1(β=1),并且都具有最低的离回归均方(S2d)i。不仅如此,二者的决定系数(R2)分别高达89.5%和89.8%,也印证其稳定性非常之高。相比之下,无性系PB235、PB261和RRIM701在茎围生长,以及GT1在干胶产量上的回归系数β均显著大于1,故在该2个性状上这些无性系各自都易受环境变化的影响。
