Phosphorus overenrichment of shallow ponds prevailing in wetlands leads to their eutrophication causing the collapse of those vulnerable *** potential of phosphorus accumulation by periphyton developed on artificial substrata has been investigated in two shallow ponds(Bara?ka and?iroki Rit)in northwest Serbia and compared to the same ability of plankton and *** periphyton substrate carrier has been submerged from May to *** continuously(CS)and monthly developed(MS)periphyton were *** component of all investigated communities has been qualitatively *** accumulation of only 14.7 mg TP/m^(2) was recorded in three-month exposed periphyton *** exposed from July to August reached maximal 12.7 mg TP/m^(2).Plankton community that was characterized by more diverse and abundantly developed algal component was more effective in phosphorus accumulation(0.7 mg/g dry weight)in comparison with dominantly inorganic and diatom-dominated periphyton in Bara?*** conditions caused by recent revitalization(dredging organic matter and mud from pond basin—redigging)as well as rapid desiccation of?iroki Rit disabled making an unambiguous conclusion about the efficiency of phosphorus accumulation among different communities,but suggested slight potential of phosphorus harvesting by metaphyton in this *** to the shorter exposure time that brings the reduced risk of unpredictable changes in the ecosystem,as well as the considerable amount of accumulated phosphorus,large-scale application of one-month exposed periphyton developed on artificial substrates would be more advisable for phosphorus harvesting in nutrient affected shallow ponds.

Mini-loop ligation of a bleeding duodenal Dieulafoy's lesion

Two percent of gastrointestinal hemorrhages are caused by Dieulafoy's lesions, which are located in duodenum in only 15% of cases. There are no recommendations regarding the prime endoscopic treatment technique for this condition. A 61-year-old woman presented with melena without signs of hemodynamic instability. During an urgent upper endoscopy, blood oozing from the normal mucosa of the duodenum was seen and this was classified as a Dieulafoy's lesion. A mini-loop was opened at the rim of a transparent ligation chamber, at the end of the endoscope, and after aspiration of the lesion, closed and detached. Complete hemostasis was achieved without early or postponed complications. in every day clinical practice, mini-loop ligation is rarely used because of possible complications, such as site ulceration, organ perforation, re-bleeding and possible inexperience of the operator. To the best of our knowledge this is the first case of successful treatment of bleeding duodenal Dieulafoy's lesion by mini-loop ligation.

Adipokines and proinflammatory cytokines, the key mediators in the pathogenesis of nonalcoholic fatty liver disease

Nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) is a condition in which excess fat accumulates in the liver of a patient with no history of alcohol abuse or other causes for secondary hepatic steatosis. The pathogenesis of NAFLD and nonalcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH) has not been fully elucidated. The “two-hit“ hypothesis is probably a too simplified model to elaborate complex pathogenetic events occurring in patients with NASH. it should be better regarded as a multiple step process, with accumulation of liver fat being the first step, followed by the development of necroinflammation and fibrosis. Adipose tissue, which has emerged as an endocrine organ with a key role in energy homeostasis, is responsive to both central and peripheral metabolic signals and is itself capable of secreting a number of proteins. These adipocyte-specific or enriched proteins, termed adipokines, have been shown to have a variety of local, peripheral, and central effects. in the current review, we explore the role of adipocytokines and proinflammatory cytokines in the pathogenesis of NAFLD. We particularly focus on adiponectin, leptin and ghrelin, with a brief mention of resistin, visfatin and retinol-binding protein 4 among adipokines, and tumor necrosis factor-α, interleukin (iL)-6, iL-1, and briefly iL-18 among proinflammatory cytokines. We update their role in NAFLD, as elucidated in experimental models and clinical practice.

Short-circuit Analysis in Large-scale Distribution Systems With High penetration of Distributed Generators

in this paper a short-circuit computation(SCC) procedure for large-scale distribution systems with high penetration of distributed generators based on contemporary technologies is proposed. We reviewed the pleiotropic beneficial effects of the stable gastric pentadecapeptide BPC 157,three very recent demonstrations that may be essential in the gut-brain and braingut axis operation,and therapy application in the central nervous system disorders,in ***,given in the reperfusion,BPC 157 counteracted bilateral clamping of the common carotid arteries-induced stroke,sustained brain neuronal damages were resolved in rats as well as disturbed memory,locomotion,and *** therapy effect supports particular gene expression in hippocampal tissues that appeared in BPC 157-treated ***,there are L-NG-nitro arginine methyl ester(L-NAME)-and haloperidol-induced catalepsy as well as the rat acute and chronic models of 'positivelike' schizophrenia symptoms,that BPC 157 counteracted,and resolved the complex relationship of the nitric oxide-system with amphetamine and apomorphine(dopamine agents application),MK-801(non-competitive antagonist of the N-methyl-D-aspartate receptor) and chronic methamphetamine administration(to induce sensitivity).Thirdly,after rat spinal cord compression,there were advanced healing and functional recovery(counteracted tail paralysis).Likewise,in BPC 157 therapy,there is specific support for each of these topics:counteracted encephalopathies;alleviated vascular occlusion disturbances(stroke);counteracted dopamine disturbances(dopamine receptors blockade,receptors super sensitivity development,or receptor activation,over-release,nigrostriatal damage,vesicles depletion),and nitric oxide-system disturbances("L-NAME non-responsive,L-arginine responsive," and "L-NAME responsive,L-arginine responsive")(schizophrenia therapy);inflammation reduction,nerve recovery in addition to alleviated hemostasis and vessels function after compression(spinal cord injury therapy).Thus,these disturbances may be all resolved within the same agent's beneficial activity,i.e.,the stable gastric pentadecapeptide BPC 157.

Sustainable tourism development in mountain areas in Sumadija and Western Serbia

Sustainable tourism,as an integral part of sustainable development,emerged as a logical outcome of preventing the uncontrolled and excessive use of tourism resources and *** study analyzes whether mountain tourism development in Serbia can be sustainable and feasible in the long *** the heterogeneity of mountains in Serbia in terms of tourism development,the subject of this research is the achieved level of sustainable tourism development in mountains in the most developed and most visited region in Serbia-sumadija and Western Serbia:Zlatibor,Kopaonik,Tara,Zlatar,Mokra Gora and Go?.The sustainable tourism development level was analyzed by using five groups of the EU’s comparative indicators:economic,social,cultural,environmental and tourist satisfaction *** results showed that the development of tourism in the examined mountains is not fully aligned with sustainable *** tourist satisfaction indicator has the most acceptable values,which is a good basis for further harmonization of tourism development on the principles of *** indicators,especially the ratio of overnight stays and accommodation capacities,show the most unacceptable values,which indicate the need for implementing changes in the process of tourism development in the coming *** analysis of sustainable tourism in mountain areas in sumadija and the Western Serbia undoubtfully points out that it is necessary to significantly change the current tourism product portfolio,which implies harmonizing mountain tourism development with global ***,a comparative analysis that looks at the degree of sustainability of mountain tourism in some countries of the Alpine region,such as Switzerland,Austria and Slovenia,contributes to *** more intensive development of tourism throughout the year would significantly improve indicators of sustainable tourism in all analyzed mountain areas of Sumadija and Western *** would improve the
