Quantification of theophylline or paracetamol in milk matrices by high-performance liquid chromatography

A simple, accurate and sensitive high-performance liquid chromatography （HPLC） method was developed, validated and applied to the determination of either theophylline or paracetamol in milk-based samples. The method allowed drug quantification in fresh and powdered milk with a relatively short run time of analysis and it was also successfully applied to the quantification of the drugs in solid dosage forms intended for pediatric use. Moreover, the main significant advantages over other published works are the simplicity of the sample preparation, reduced assay time and sample loss. The method meets the International Conference on Harmonization guideline for analytical methods validation regarding specificity, linearity, accuracy, precision, specificity and robustness as required by health authorities and applied by industry while designing and marketing new drug products. The technique encompasses the separation of the analytes with a reverse phase C18 column under isocrafic conditions and UV detection at 272 nm and 243 nm, respectively, for theophylline and paraeetamol. The lower limit of quantification for both drugs was determined as 0.2 μg/mL and the between-batch accuracy was 99.7%. This HPLC method allows quantification of theophylline and paracetamol in milk matrices and it can be applied in the design, development and production of milk-based pediatric dosage forms.

The Origin and Tectonic Setting of Precambrian Greywacke of ribandar-Chimbel, Goa, India： Petrological and Geochemical Evidence

The Precambrian greywacke of ribandar-Chimbel belonging to the Sanvordem Formation of the Goa Group, India, has been studied for petrography and analyzed for major trace elements. The greywacke is characterized by angular to sub-round grains of quartz, feldspar, biotite, chlorite and clay minerals. The abundance of clay in the matrix seems to have influenced the Al2O3 content and the K20/Al2O3 ratio. The variation diagrams indicate a decreasing trend of TiO2, Al2O3, Fe2O3 and MgO; whereas Na2O and CaO exhibit a scatter which could be a result of the variable presence of feldspar within the sediments. The immobile elements, vanadium （25 to 144 ppm）, nickel （up to 107 ppm） and chromium （up to 184 ppm）, reflect abundance of clay minerals. The greywacke shows strongly fractionated rEE patterns with LaN/YbN = 8 to 26 and with higher total rEE abundances （up to 245 ppm）. The low rEE enrichment and depletion in heavier rEE with prominent negative Eu anomaly （Eu/Eu^＊= 0.54 to 0.79） suggest a derivation of the greywacke from an old upper continental crust composed chiefly of felsic components. Petrological evidence and geochemical data suggest that the deposition of the greywacke largely took place in a deep to shallow basin that progressively chang- ed from that of a continental island arc to an active continental setting.

Hypertonic saline （HS） has been applied in several med- ical areas such as pneumology （asthma, cystic fibrosis and bronchiolytis）, endocrinology （hyponatremia） and especially in emergency medicine, in traumatic and in- flammatory/infectious disorders. It may be composed of 3% or 7.5% sodium chlorate. By far, 3% solution is the most widely studied and used solution （Pinto et al., 2006, 2015; Dekker et al., 2014; Gantner et al., 2014; Shein et al., 2014）.

The description and understanding of plant communities is fundamental for the implementation of conservation or restoration programs, especially when these communities are highly threatened and need to be *** rupestres, some Neotropical mountain grasslands located in central Brazil and part of the Cerrado biome(covering 2 million km2) host unique plant communities, currently threatened by quarrying and *** grassy matrix of campos rupestres, has long been considered a rich mosaic under the control of local topography and the nature of substrate, but this affirmation has not been well *** analyzed whether plant communities varied in relation to edaphic factors within the stony substrate and the sandy substrate of this grassy *** selected 5 sites where occur both grasslands on stony substrate and on sandy substrate, and we carried out vegetation surveys and soil *** counted 222 plant species within our communities, among which38.6% are exclusively found on campos *** results show that both soil-types are strongly acidic, nutrient poor and exhibit a seasonal *** increases and p H and organic carbon decrease during the dry *** soils areslightly richer in nutrients than sandy soils and differences in soil granulometry and composition have led to the formation of distinct plant *** species are confined to either one or the other grassland-type, which makes the plant composition of each community *** in edaphic factors generate heterogeneous grasslands favorable to a high plant *** programs and restoration actions have to maintain or recreate this *** presence of distinct plant communities implies that different strategies might be adopted to improve the restoration of these ecosystems.

Histological Assessment of Bone regeneration in the Maxilla with Homologous Bone Graft:A Feasible Option for Maxillary Bone reconstruction

Bone biomaterials have been increasingly used to reconstruct maxillary atrophic ***,the aim of this study was to evaluate bone reconstruction in the maxilla using a homologous cortico-cancellous FFB(lyophilized)graft and verify its *** individuals were included from 2014 to *** first surgery was performed to install homologous bone blocks in the *** period of the second intervention varied between 5 months and 15 days to 11 months(≈7.93 months).The biopsies were taken from the central region of the matured graft during the surgery for implant *** patients presented clinical and radiographic conditions for the installation of dental *** was a 100%of survival *** histological assessment showed that the homologous block bone graft was an osteoconductive biomaterial,with connective tissue present,and newly formed bone juxtaposed on its *** were bone trabeculae with osteocytes and active osteoblasts with connective tissue in the mineralization process;the remodeling process can be found through the reverse lines.A limited focus of necrosis with fibrosis was detected,with small resorption and areas of inflammatory infiltrate,but without clinical *** homologous block bone graft can be considered a feasible option to substitute the autogenous bone graft(gold standard),with predictable clinical and favorable histological *** patients had a shorter surgical period,low morbidity,and an unlimited amount of biomaterial available at an accessible cost.

A multilayer film,composed by ZrN‒Ag(20 nm)and Mo‒S‒N(10 nm)layers,combining the intrinsic lubricant characteristics of each layer was deposited using DC magnetron sputtering system,to promote lubrication in a wide-range of *** results showed that the ZrN‒Ag/Mo‒S‒N multilayer film exhibited a sharp interface between the different layers.A face-centered cubic(fcc)dual-phases of ZrN and Ag co-existed in the ZrN‒Ag layers,whilst the Mo‒S‒N layers displayed a mixture of hexagonal close-packed MoS_(2)(hcp-MoS_(2))nano-particles and an amorphous *** multilayer film exhibited excellent room temperature(rT)triblogical behavior,as compared to the individual monolayer film,due to the combination of a relative high hardness with the low friction properties of both *** reorientation of MoS_(2)parallel to the sliding direction also contributed to the enhanced anti-frictional performance at *** 400℃,the reorientation of MoS_(2)as well as the formation of MoO_(3)phase were responsible for the lubrication,whilst the hard t-ZrO_(2)phase promoted abrasion and,consequently,led to increasing wear *** 600℃,the Ag_(2)MoO_(4)double-metal oxide was the responsible for the low friction and wear-resistance;furthermore,the observed transformation from t-ZrO_(2)to m-ZrO_(2),could also have contributed to the better tribological performance.

Hematologic malignancies are the most common type of cancer affecting children and young adults,and encompass diseases,such as leukemia,lymphoma,and myeloma,all of which impact blood associated tissues such as the bone marrow,lymphatic system,and blood *** diagnostics of these malignancies relies heavily on the use of bone marrow samples,which is painful,debilitating,and not free from risks for leukemia *** biopsies are based on minimally invasive assessment of markers in the blood(and other fluids)and have the potential to improve the efficacy of diagnostic/therapeutic strategies in leukemia patients,providing a useful tool for the real time molecular profiling of *** most promising noninvasive biomarkers are circulating tumor cells,circulating tumor DNA,microrNAs,and ***,we discuss the role of assessing these circulating biomarkers for the understanding of tumor progression and metastasis,tumor progression dynamics through treatment and for follow-up.
