The main objective of this research is to better understand the correlation between the constituent phases presented in the super-duplex steel SAF 2507 when it is under welding process by arc shielding gas MIG-MAG (Metal Inert Gas-Metal Active Gas). Conventional short circuit transfer and derivative STT (Surface Tension Transfer) using the 2594 welding wire as a filler metal and the effects on welding power in hardness, toughness and pitting corrosion are considered here. The results showed that the welding energy (Ew) changed the α/γ-phase’s balance and occasionally formed σ-phase in ferrite grain boundaries which led to changes in hardness, toughness and pitting corrosion resistance in molten zone (MZ), heat activated zone (HAZ) and metal base regions (MB). Furthermore, the increased amount of γ-phase improved the pitting corrosion resistance index (PRENγ) mainly in the MZ. This is due to decrease of α-phase fraction and formation of coarser grains, for higher welding energy. The toughness in the MZ decreased with less formation of γ-phase, coalescence of ferritic grains and localized formation of σ-phase, raising the hardness in the HAZ when the welding energy was lower.

The prediction of the behavior of reinforced concrete beams under bending is essential for the perfect design of these ***,the classical models do not incorporate the physical nonlinear behavior of concrete under tension and compression,which can underestimate the deformations in the structural element under short and long-term *** the present work,a variational formulation based on the Finite Element Method is presented to predict the flexural behavior of reinforced concrete *** physical nonlinearity due cracking of concrete is considered by utilization of damage concept in the definition of constitutive models,and the lamination theory it is used in discretization of section cross of *** the layered approach,the reinforced concrete element is formulated as a laminated composite that consists of thin layers,of concrete or steel that has been modeled as elastic-perfectly plastic *** comparison of numerical load-displacement results with experimental results found in the literature demonstrates a good approximation of the model and validates the application of the damage model in the Classical Laminate Theory to predict mechanical failure of reinforced concrete *** results obtained by the numerical model indicated a variation in the stress-strain behavior of each beam,while for under-reinforced beams,the compressive stresses did not reach the peak stress but the stress-strain behavior was observed in the nonlinear regime at failure,for the other beams,the concrete had reached its ultimate strain,and the beam’s neutral axis was close to the centroid of the cross-section.

This study aims to evaluate the possible allelopathic effects of young and mature leaf extract from of two eucalyptus genetic materials on the physiological performance of millet seeds. The experiment was carried out in a completely randomized design, in a 5 × 2 × 2 factorial arrangement [five concentrations of the extract (0, 25%, 50%, 75%, and 100%) × two genetic materials (1 - Eucalyptus grandis × Eucalyptus urophylla and 2 - Eucalyptus grandis × Eucalyptus camaldulensis) × two maturation stages of leaves (young and mature leaves)] with four replicates, each one with 25 seeds. Seeding was performed on the germitest paper substrate distributed in Petri dishes, moistened with the extract according to the treatments, being allocated in biochemical oxygen demand (B.O.D) adjusted at 25°C and 12 h photoperiod. Percentage, speed index, mean germination time, aerial part and primary root length, and dry matter weight of aerial part and root system of seedlings were evaluated. The leaf extracts of the two eucalyptus clones had all the analyzed variables changed with effect more evident on young leaf extract of the genetic material 1. It can be concluded that the tested genetic materials have a detrimental effect on the physiological performance of millet seeds.

The new coronavirus (SARS-CoV-2) broke out in Wuhan in China in December 2019, causing severe pneumonia and deaths, soon in March 2020, it reached pandemic level, affecting several countries including Brazil. The disease was named COVID-19, with characteristics of most infected having mild and moderate symptoms and a part severe symptom. The disease has already reached 158 ethnic groups, which have high vulnerability and limited access to health services. The objective is to investigate the clinical and spatial characteristics of Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome of COVID-19 in the indigenous peoples of Brazil. It is an epidemiological, cross-sectional, analytical ecological study, based on data from the OpenDataSUS platform from 01/01/2020 to 31/08/2020. Profile variables, signs and symptoms and risk factors/comorbidities. The data were analyzed by Bioestat 5.3. There were 1,207 cases and 470 deaths. Profile: male gender (59.48%) means age 53 years. Signs and symptoms: fever (74.23%), cough (77.71%), sore throat (35.62%), dyspnea (69.34%), respiratory discomfort (62.80%), O2 saturation 2 saturation < 95% (69.36%). Risk factors and comorbidities (45.89%) were associated with deaths (54.04%). About comorbidities, chronic cardiovascular diseases represented (18.97%) and Diabetes Mellitus (18.97%), and associated with deaths: Chronic Cardiovascular Disease (24.46%). Being admitted to the ICU has a risk of death in (OR-3.96- < 0.0001-CI-2913/5383) followed by not being vaccinated against influenza (OR-1.85- < 0.0001-CI-1358/2528). The public and health policies of Brazil should be directed to control the dissemination of COVID-19 in this population, that COVID-19 evolves in the same intensity, however, the indigenous have vulnerabilities that can increase the impact of the pandemic in this population.

AIM: To analyze the effect of age-period and birth cohort on gastric cancer mortality, in Brazil and across its five geographic regions, by sex, in the population over 20 years of age, as well as make projections for the period ***: An ecological study is presented herein,which distributed gastric cancer-related deaths in Brazil and its geographic regions. The effects of ageperiod and birth cohort were calculated by the Poisson regression model and projections were made with the age-period-cohort model in the statistical program R. RESULTS: Progressive reduction of mortality rates was observed in the 1980's, and then higher and lower mortality rates were verified in the 2000's, for both sexes, in Brazil and for the South, Southeast and Midwest regions. A progressive decrease in mortality rates was observed for the Northeast(both sexes) and North(men only) regions within the period 1995-1999, followed by rising rates. CONCLUSION: Regional differences were demonstrated in the mortality rates for gastric cancer in Brazil, and the least developed regions of the country will present increases in projected mortality rates.

Introduction: Gastrointestinal stromal tumor (GIST) occurrence is uncommon and usually manifested by nonspecific signs and symptoms, which hinders its reasoning as a diagnostic hypothesis. The objective is to report a case of female GIST with curative treatment through video-laparoscopy with partial gastrectomy. Case report: A 61-year-old female patient attended the Luiz Gioseffi Jannuzzi School Hospital (HELGJ) emergency room, with a sudden onset of upper gastrointestinal bleeding with hemodynamic instability. After stabilization, she was admitted for diagnostic investigation, showing sub-epithelial lesion of antrum in upper digestive endoscopy (UDE) and solid-cystic mass in the gastric antrum to computed tomography (CT). The conduct was the video laparoscopy surgical approach with partial gastrectomy. The histopathological and immunohistochemical aspects of the surgical specimen showed a gastrointestinal stromal tumor (GIST) in a gastric antrum of low grade of malignancy, positive e-Kit and mycotic index (50 cga) Discussion: Compared to the scarce reports in literature, the case described presented typical epidemiology, but the clinical picture was not the most incident. Conclusions: Given the rarity of this pathology cases, it is essential to report these in order to elucidate the specificities and also to discuss diagnostic and therapeutic methods.

Objective: To evaluate the association of socio-demographic and clinical characteristics, and risk factors with occurrence of pressure ulcers in institutionalized elderly people. Method: This cross-sectional, analytical study, in quantitative approach, performed from the database analysis linked to the project “Pressure Ulcer in institutionalized elderly people: Association of incidence with the risk factors to functional and nutritional assessment” developed in six long-stay institutions for the elderly people in João Pessoa. Data were analyzed using the Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS) version 20.0. Associations were made through chi square test and Odds Ratio. Results: The clinical conditions of significant associations with the occurrence of pressure ulcers were the variables neurological disorders (p = 0.011) and visual impairment (p = 0.005). As for risk factors, the most important was fecal incontinence (p Conclusion: The analysis of the associations pointed out problems that require intervention in order to prevent health implications of the elderly people and to minimize the risk and occurrence of this injury.

In Brazil, the amount of pesticides consumed doubled in the last 10 years. Thus, in 2008 it assumed the lead position in the world. However, its indiscriminate application in agriculture without the use of the necessary care has contributed to environmental degradation and increased occupational exposures, making it a serious health problem in the country. The recent study looked to evaluate the auditory health and risk factors in rural workers exposed to pesticides in Piedade de Caratinga County—MG, and chart their socioeconomic profile and lifestyle while identifying the types of crops and the use and management of pesticides. Developed, then, a descriptive and exploratory study involving 23 men, rural workers, exposed to pesticides, with no history of exposure to noise, with changes in meatoscopy and aged ≤50 years of age. The results show the sample consisted of 23 men with a mean age of 36.7 ± 9.3, whom have low education, with a monthly income of 1 minimum wage, working in the fields for over 15 years. There was a predominance of horticulture using organophosphate pesticides and pyrethroids. Part of the sample shows auditory loss, the most common sensorineural conductive loss. It is essential that the population exposed to this type of risk is informed and receives guidance from educational campaigns developed by the multidisciplinary team of basic health units.

AIM To test accuracy and reproducibility of gestalt to predict obstructive coronary artery disease(CAD)in patients with acute chest *** We studied individuals who were consecutively admitted to our Chest Pain *** admission,investigators performed a standardized interview and recorded14 chest pain *** on these features,a cardiologist who was blind to other clinical characteristics made unstructured judgment of CAD probability,both numerically and *** the reference standard for testing the accuracy of gestalt,angiography was required to rule-in CAD,while either angiography or non-invasive test could be used to *** order to assess reproducibility,a second cardiologist did the same *** In a sample of 330 patients,the prevalence of obstructive CAD was 48%.Gestalt’s numerical probability was associated with CAD,but the area under the curve of0.61(95%CI:0.55-0.67)indicated low level of ***,categorical definition of typical chest pain had a sensitivity of 48%(95%CI:40%-55%)and specificity of 66%(95%CI:59%-73%),yielding a negligible positive likelihood ratio of 1.4(95%CI:0.65-2.0)and negative likelihood ratio of 0.79(95%CI:0.62-1.02).Agreement between the two cardiologists was poor in the numerical classification(95%limits of agreement=-71%to 51%)and categorical definition of typical pain(Kappa=0.29;95%CI:0.21-0.37).CONCLUSION Clinical judgment based on a combination of chest pain features is neither accurate nor reproducible in predicting obstructive CAD in the acute setting.
