N6-methyladenosine(m6A)is the most abundant modification in eukaryotic messenger RNA.1 This modification is dynamic,reversible,and mediated by proteins characterized as methyltransferases and *** investigations have found that aberrant expression of methyltransferases and demethylases results in m6A dysregulation and,in consequence,affects the biological functions in which this modification is ***,m6A dysregulation affects the development and maintenance of various diseases,including cancer.2 For this reason,we explored the potential role that m6A modification has in invasive breast cancer of no special type(IBC-NST)and its molecular subtypes luminal A,luminal B HER2-,luminal B HER2+,HER2+,and triple-negative breast cancer(TNBC)whose degree of global m6A methylation has not yet been studied.

BACKGROUND The results obtained to date concerning food groups,diet quality and colorectal cancer(CRC)risk vary according to criteria used and the study *** To study the relationships between food groups,diet quality and CRC risk,in an adult population of the Basque Country(North of Spain).mETHODS This observational study included 308 patients diagnosed with CRC and 308 ageand sex-matched subjects as *** recruitment,dietary,anthropometric,lifestyle,socioeconomic,demographic and health status information was *** to the dietary recommendations was evaluated utilizing the Healthy Eating Index for the Spanish Diet and the *** logistic regressions were used to evaluate the associations of food group intakes,diet quality scores,categorized in tertiles,with CRC *** The adjusted models for potential confounding factors showed a direct association between milk and dairy products consumption,in particular high-fat cheeses[odds ratio(OR)third tertile vs first tertile=1.87,95%confidence intervals(CI):1.11-3.16],and CRC *** the consumption of fiber-containing foods,especially whole grains(OR third tertile vs first tertile=0.62,95%CI:0.39-0.98),and fatty fish(OR third tertile vs first tertile=0.53,95%CI:0.27-0.99)was associated with a lower risk for ***,higher mD adherence was associated with a reduced CRC risk in adjusted models(OR third tertile vs first tertile=0.40,95%CI:0.20-0.80).CONCLUSION Direct associations were found for high-fat cheese,whereas an inverse relation was reported for fiber-containing foods and fatty fish,as well as adherence to a mediterranean dietary pattern.

Diagnosing physical conditions near the flare energy-release sites from observations of solar microwave typeⅢbursts

In the physics of solar flares, it is crucial to diagnose the physical conditions near the flare energy- release sites. However, so far it is unclear how to diagnose these physical conditions. A solar microwave type III burst is believed to be a sensitive signature of primary energy release and electron accelerations in solar flares. This work takes into account the effect of the magnetic field on the plasma density and develops a set of formulas which can be used to estimate the plasma density, temperature, magnetic field near the magnetic reconnection site and particle acceleration region, and the velocity and energy of electron beams. We apply these formulas to three groups of microwave type III pairs in an X-class flare, and obtained some reasonable and interesting results. This method can be applied to other microwave type III bursts to diagnose the physical conditions of source regions, and provide some basic information to understand the intrinsic nature and fundamental processes occurring near the flare energy-release sites.

Soil Stabilizing Capability of Three Plant Species Growing on the Three Gorges Reservoir Riverside

Plant regrowth capacity and soil protection were investigated using three flooding-tolerant Yangtze River riverside species （Arundinella anomala, Hemartria compressa and Cynodon dactylon）. The root and leaf surface growth, the plant regrowth capacity and the mitigation of soil runoff were analyzed using potted plants that were covered with 5, 10 and 18 cm new sediments, respectively. A. anomala reacted most slowly to the recovery from new sediments, while H. compressa had the highest recovery rates. The latter could produce 24 times the initial root length and 41 times its original leaf surface during the growth period of 12 weeks. C. dactyion showed no significant change in growth in relation to the rising sediment thickness, which means that even 18 cm of new sediments were tolerated by C. dactylon. Erosion tests showed that all three plant species can reduce the soil runoff by more than 63%. Compared to other species, A. anomala was less capable of stabilizing new sediments. The soil protecting abilities of H. compressa decreased after more than 10 cm of new sediments. C. dactyion showed the best soil retention compared to the other species examined, since it could reduce the soil runoff up to 87%. Consequently, C. dactylon was found to be significantly better for soil-protection plant species than A. anomala and H. compressa given the conditions at the Three Gorges Reservoir.

Analysis of the periodic solutions of a smooth and discontinuous oscillator

In this paper, the periodic solutions of the smooth and discontinuous （SD） oscillator, which is a strongly irra- tional nonlinear system are discussed for the system having a viscous damping and an external harmonic excitation. A four dimensional averaging method is employed by using the complete Jacobian elliptic integrals directly to obtain the perturbed primary responses which bifurcate from both the hyperbolic saddle and the non-hyperbolic centres of the un- perturbed system. The stability of these periodic solutions is analysed by examining the four dimensional averaged equa- tion using Lyapunov method. The results presented herein this paper are valid for both smooth （e 〉 0） and discontin- uous （ce = 0） stages providing the answer to the question why the averaging theorem spectacularly fails for the case of medium strength of external forcing in the Duffing system analysed by Holmes. Numerical calculations show a good agreement with the theoretical predictions and an excellent efficiency of the analysis for this particular system, which also suggests the analysis is applicable to strongly nonlinear systems.
