Background:Verbal autopsy(VA)is a health surveillance technique used in low and middle-income countries to establish medical causes of death(CODs)for people who die outside hospitals and/or without *** virtue of the deaths it investigates,VA is also an opportunity to examine social exclusion from access to health *** aims were to develop a system to collect and interpret information on social and health systems determinants of deaths investigated in ***:A short set of questions on care pathways,circumstances and events at and around the time of death were developed and integrated into the WHO 2012 short form VA(SF-VA).Data were subsequently analysed from two census rounds in the Agincourt Health and Socio-Demographic Surveillance Site(HDSS),South Africa in 2012 and 2013 where the SF-VA had been *** and descriptive analysis were used to calculate cause-specific mortality fractions(CSMFs),and to examine responses to the new indicators and whether and how they varied by medical CODs and age/sex ***:One thousand two hundred forty-nine deaths were recorded in the Agincourt HDSS censuses in 2012-13 of which 1,196(96%)had complete VA *** and non-communicable conditions accounted for the majority of deaths(47%and 39%respectively)with smaller proportions attributed to external,neonatal and maternal causes(5%,2%and 1%respectively).5%of deaths were of indeterminable *** new indicators revealed multiple problems with access to care at the time of death:39%of deaths did not call for help,36%found care unaffordable overall,and 33%did not go to a *** problems were reported consistently across age and sex *** conditions and younger age groups had fewer problems with overall costs but more with not calling for help or going to a *** illustrative health systems interpretation suggests extending and promoting existing provisions for transport and financial access in this ***

Injury to central nervous system （CNS） tissues in adult mam- mals often leads to neuronal loss, scarring, and permanently lost neurologic functions, and this default healing response is increasingly linked to a pro-inflammatory innate immune response. Extracellular matrix （ECM） technology can reduce inflammation, while increasing functional tissue remodeling in various tissues and organs, including the CNS.

Background:In the military,insufficient postural stability is a risk factor for developing lower extremity *** stability training programs are effective in preventing these ***,an objective method for the measurement of postural stability in servicemen is *** primary objective of this study was to assess the influence of the number of repetitions,different foot positions and real-time visual feedback on postural stability,as well as their effects on the intrasession reliability of postural stability measurements in *** secondary objective was to assess the concurrent validity of the ***:Twenty healthy servicemen between 20 and 50 years of age and in active duty were eligible for this quantitative,cross-sectional *** measurements took place on a force plate,measuring the mean velocity of the center of *** participants were asked to stand as still as possible in three different foot positions(wide stance,small stance,and on one leg),five times each for 45 s each time,and the measurements were performed with and without real-time visual ***:We observed a significant main effect of foot position(P<0.001),but not of visual feedback(P=0.119)or repetition number(P=0.915).Postural stability decreased in the more challenging foot *** ICC estimates varied from 0.809(one repetition in wide stance)to 0.985(five repetitions on one leg).The common variance(R2)between different foot positions without feedback varied between 0.008(wide stance)and ***:To yield reliable data,wide-stance measurements should be conducted three times,and small-stance measurements and measurements on one leg should be conducted two *** scores of a measurement in a particular foot position cannot predict the scores of measurements in other foot positions.

The induced path number p（G） of a graph G is defined as the minimum number of subsets into which the vertex set of G can be partitioned so that each subset induces a path. Broere et hi. proved that if G is a graph of order n, then 〈 p（G）＋ p（G）〈3n/2] . In this paper,_we characterize [3n/2], improve the lower bound on p（G）＋ p（G） by one when the graphs G for which p（G） -4- p（G） = 3n n is the square of an odd integer, and determine a best possible upper bound for p（G）＋ p（G） when neither G nor G has isolated vertices.

Classification of Toxic Cyanobacterial Blooms by Fourier-Transform Infrared Technology (FTIR)

Cyanobacteria are gram-negative photosynthetic bacteria capable of producing toxins responsible for morbidity and mortality in humans and domestic animals. They are capable of forming concentrated blooms, referred to as harmful algal blooms (HABs). Characterization of HABs is necessary to reduce risks from human and animal exposures to toxins. Current methods used to classify cyanobacteria and cyanotoxins have limitations related to time, analyst skills, and cost. Fourier-Transform Infrared Spectroscopy (FTIR) is a potential tool for rapid, robust cyanobacterial classification that is not limited by these factors. To examine the practicality of this method, library screening with default software algorithms was performed on HAB samples, followed by principle component cluster analyses and dendrogram analysis of samples meeting minimum quality requirements. Two tested spectrometers and software packages were successful at distinguishing cyanobacteria from green algae. Principle component cluster analysis and dendrogram analysis also resulted in clear differentiation between cyanobacteria and green algae. While these methods cannot be used independently to fully characterize HABs, they show the potential and practicality of FTIR as a screening tool.

Rates of non-alcoholic fatty liver disease(NAFLD) are increasing worldwide in tandem with the metabolic syndrome, with the progressive form of disease, nonalcoholic steatohepatitis(NASH) likely to become the most common cause of end stage liver disease in the not too distant future. Lifestyle modification and weight loss remain the main focus of management in NAFLD and NASH, however, there has been growing interest in the benefit of specific foods and dietary components on disease progression, with some foods showing protective properties. This article provides an overview of the foods that show the most promise and their potential benefits in NAFLD/NASH, specifically; oily fish/fish oil, coffee, nuts, tea, red wine, avocado and olive oil. Furthermore, it summarises results from animal and human trials and highlights potential areas for future research.

Characterization and Corrosion Behaviour of Selected Duplex Stainless Steels in Acidic and Acidic-Chloride Solution

The 2101, 2205 and 2507 are duplex stainless steels. They have two phases: austenite and ferrite. The metallurgical characterization was performed by means of Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM) with EDX and X-ray diffractometry (XRD). The corrosion behaviour was evaluated by potentiodynamic tests. The corrosion tests were conducted with the aid of potentiostat. The SEM and XRD revealed phases of austenite and ferrite without any intermetallic phase. The elemental analysis of the phases showed that the elements partitioned more into the phases that they promoted. The corrosion resistance of 2507 was higher than 2205 and 2101 as it may be seen on the polarization curves. Comparing the two media, the following relation to their corrosion resistance: 2507 > 2205 > 2101 was established.
