We report the charge-changing cross sections(σ_(cc))of 24 p-shell nuclides on both hydrogen and carbon at about 900A MeV,of which^(8,9)Li,^(10–12)Be,^(10,14,15)B,^(14,15,17–22)N and^(16)O on hydrogen and^(8,9)Li on carbon are for the first *** from the data set,we found a new and robust relationship between the scaling factor of the Glauber model calculations and the separation energies of the nuclei of interest on both *** allows us to deduce proton radii(R_p)for the first time from the cross sections on *** identical R_p values are deduced from both target data for the neutron-rich carbon isotopes;however,the R_p from the hydrogen target is systematically smaller in the neutron-rich nitrogen *** calls for further experimental and theoretical investigations.

Recent studies have shown that the tussock grass stipa tenacissima L. facilitates the establishment of late-successional shrubs, in what constitutes the first documented case of facilitation of woody plants by grasses. With the aim of increasing our knowledge of this interaction, in the present study we investigated the effects of s. tenacissima on the foliar δ13C, δ15N, nitrogen concentration, and carbon ： nitrogen ratio of introduced seedlings of Pistacia lentiscus L., Quercus coccifera L., and Medicago arborea L. in a semi-arid Mediterranean steppe. six months after planting, the values of δ13C ranged between -26.9‰ and -29.6‰, whereas those of δ15N ranged between -1.9‰ and 2.7‰. The foliar C ： N ratio ranged between 10.7 and 53.5, and the nitrogen concentration ranged between 1.0% and 4.4%. We found no significant effect of the microsite provided by s. tenacissima on these variables in any of the species evaluated. The values of δ13C were negatively correlated with predawn water potentials in M. arborea and were positively correlated with relative growth rate in Q. coccifera. The values of δ15N were positively correlated with the biomass allocation to roots in the latter species. The present results suggest that the modification of environmental conditions in the are surrounding s. tenacissima was not strong enough to modify the foliar isotopic and nitrogen concentration of shrubs during the early stages after planting.

The limited availability of high-quality spatial data often limits the development of hydrological modelling in developing countries. Hydrological models with data at different scales may generate large uncertainties in modelling outputs. This study analysed the accuracy of four sWAT built models that combine soil and land use/land cover (LULC) data at the scale of 1:250,000 and 1:100,000 in a basin of Mexico. sWAT model allowed determining that large-scale maps produced better results than data from small-scale. sensitivity analysis with different soil data was less than LULC data. However, the small-scale can be used for exploratory purposes when testing sWAT performance.

We report the development of a stable high-average power X-ray source generated by the interaction of ultrashort laser pulses(35 fs,1 mJ,1 kHz)with a solid target in *** achieved source stability,which is essential for the applications foreseen for these laser-driven plasma accelerators,is due to the combination of precise positioning of the target on focus and the development of a fast rotating target system able to ensure the refreshment of the material at every shot while minimizing positioning errors with respect to the focal *** vacuum-free laser-plasma X-ray source provides an average dose rate of 1.5 sv/h at 30 cm and a repeatability better than 93%during more than 36 min of continuous operation per target.

Background: Endoscopic ablation of Barrett’s esophagus has been described in which various thermocoagulation modalities are used in combination with a high d ose of a proton pump inhibitor. No randomized comparison of ablation strategies has been published. Methods: Referred patients were screened to identify those w ith Barrett’s es- ophagus 2 to 7 cmin length,without high-grade dysplasia or cancer. Included p atients received pantoprazole (40 mg twice a day), followed by randomization to treatment with argon plasma coagulation (APC) or multipolar electrocoagulation ( MPEC). The primary outcome measure was the number of treatment sessions required for endoscopic ablation. Results: Of 235 patients screened, 52 were randomized. The mean length of Barrett’s esophagus was 3.1 cm in the MPEC group vs. 4.0 cm in the APC group (p = 0.03). Otherwise,the treatment groups were similar with re gard to baseline characteristics. The mean number of treatment sessions required for endoscopic ablation was 2.9 for MPEC vs. 3.8 for APC (p = 0.04) in an inten tion-to-treat analysis (p = 0.249, after adjustment for the difference in leng th of Barrett’s esophagus).The proportion of patients in which ablationwas endo scopically achieved proximal to the gastroesophageal junction was 88%for the MP EC group vs. 81%for the APC group (p = 0.68) and histologically achieved in 81%for MPEC vs. 65%for APC (p= 0.21). The mean ti me required for the first treatment session was 6 minutes with MPEC vs. 10 minut es with APC (p =0.01) in per protocol analysis. There was no serious adverse eve nt, but transient moderate to severe upper-GI symptoms occurred after MPEC in 8 %vs. 13%after APC (p = 0.64).Conclusions: Although there were no statistically significant differences, ablation of Barrett’s esophagus with pantoprazole and MPEC required numerically fewer treatment sessions, and endoscopic and histolog ic ablation was achieved in a greater proportion of patients compared with treat ment with pantop
