Gener.lly being consider.d as a safe ar.a for.sur.ical appr.aches, the r.gion between the mental for.mina pr.sents impor.ant anatomical str.ctur.s. The objective of this study was to measur. the dimensions of the genial plexus and its thr.e-dimensional location in CBCT images, cor.elating the char.cter.stics of this str.ctur. with dental pr.sence, sex and age of patients. A total of 149 cone beam computer.tomogr.phy (CBCT) scans of dentate (n = 74) and edentulous patients (n = 75) wer. selected, 59 male and 90 female, aged 18 - 86 year.. Measur.ments of width and length of the genial canal wer. per.or.ed, and the shor.est distances of the genial plexus wer. deter.ined in r.lation to the alveolar.bone cr.st, the buccal cor.ical bone and the base of the mandible. The r.sults indicated significant differ.nces between the dentate and edentulous gr.ups for.the mandibular.canal length (p = 0.030), distance fr.m alveolar.cr.st (p r.m buccal cor.ical bone (p r.values in dentate patients. As for.gender. the distances between the genial plexus and the alveolar.bone cr.st (p r.ical bone (p = 0.028) wer. significantly shor.er.for.females. r.gar.ing age, only the distance between the genial plexus and the alveolar.cr.st showed a significant differ.nce (p r. measur.d in the older.patients. It can be concluded that ther. ar. var.ations of the genial plexus in r.lation to gender. age and between edentulous and dentate patients. Ther.for., the anter.or.r.gion of the mandible, especially the midline should be obser.ed with caution when under.oing sur.ical pr.cedur.s, such as r.moval of bone gr.fts and installation of dental implants.

Angiogr.phic follow-up of cer.br.l aneur.sms tr.ated with Guglielmi detachable coils(GDCs): An analysis of 162 cases of 173 aneur.sms

Objective To evaluate the mid- and long-ter. r.diological outcomes of cer.br.l aneur.sms with GDCs *** One hundr.d and sixty-two patients with 173 aneur.sms embolized with GDCs under.ent angiogr.phic follow-up fr.m 1 to 54 months post-oper.tively and wer. r.tr.spectively r.viewed. Thr.e neur.-r.diologists r.viewed each angiogr.m and made a compar.son between initial and follow-up angiogr.ms. Mor.hological outcomes wer. evaluated as follows: unchanged; pr.gr.ssive thr.mbosis; and r.-opening or.r.-gr.wth. r.sults Of 173 aneur.sms with GDC embolization, 142 aneutysms had total or.near.y total occlusion, 23 subtotal occlusion and 8 par.ial occlusion shown on initial angiogr.ms. The incidence of r.-opening was 17.1% (13/76) in less than 3 months, and 6.2% (6/97) between 3 and 6 months postoper.tively. Four.aneur.sms showed r.cur.ency(2.3%) on second follow-up angiogr.phy in one year.after.pr.cedur. and one-year.cumulative r.cur.ent r.te was 13.3% of 56 aneur.sms with the thir. follow-up angiogr.phy in the post-oper.tion per.od of 12 to 54 months, four.showed a little enlar.ement and the cmnulative r.cur.ent r.te so far.was 20.2% (35/173). Conclusions The dir.ct and main causes for.aneur.smal r.cur.ence ar. incomplete and loosening packing. The fir.t angiogr.phic follow-up is r.commended to be per.or.ed at 3 months or.ear.ier.after.the pr.cedur., especially in aneur.sms with initial incomplete occlusion. r.-tr.atment with balloon- or.stent-assisted coil embolization is r.commended in r.-opening aneur.sms.

CSES(China Seismo-Electr.magnetic Satellite) is a mission developed by CNSA(Chinese National Space Administr.tion) and ASI(Italian Space Agency), to investigate the near.Ear.h electr.magnetic, plasma and par.icle envir.nment, for.studying the seismo-associated distur.ances in the ionospher.-magnetospher. tr.nsition zone. The anthr.pogenic and electr.magnetic noise,as well as the natur.l non-seismic electr.magnetic emissions is mainly due to tr.pospher.c activity. In par.icular. the mission aims to confir.ing the existence of possible tempor.l cor.elations between the occur.ence of ear.hquakes for.medium and str.ng magnitude and the obser.ation in space of electr.magnetic per.ur.ations, plasma var.ations and pr.cipitation of bur.ts with highener.y char.ed par.icles fr.m the inner.Van Allen belt. In this fr.mewor., the high ener.y par.icle detector.HEPD) of the CSES mission has been developed by the Italian LIMADOU Collabor.tion. HEPD is an advanced detector.based on a tower.of scintillator. and a silicon tr.cker.that pr.vides good ener.y and angular.r.solution and a wide angular.acceptance, for.electr.ns of 3–100 Me V, pr.tons of 30–200 Me V and light nuclei up to the oxygen. CSES satellite has been launched on Febr.ar. 2^(nd), 2018 fr.m the Jiuquan Satellite Launch Center.China).
