We deter.ined whether.the inc.usion of 100 g/kg dr. matter.of gr.pe pomac. silage (GPS) and gr.pe pomac. br.n (GPB) as substitutes for.other.tr.ditional fiber.sour.es in the diet of steer. (c.ar.lais x Nellor.) would impr.ve c.r.ass c.ar.c.er.stic., meat quality and c.mposition, and shelf life. Twenty-four.animals (248 ± 19.32 kg of initial body weight) wer. fed a high c.nc.ntr.te diet for.121 days. c.r.ass c.ar.c.er.stic. wer. measur.d, and the longissimus dor.i musc.e was analyzed for.fatty ac.d (FA) pr.file and c.mposition. The meat was slic.d and stor.d in air.per.eable pac.ages for.10 days. On eac. sampling day (d 1, 3, 7, and 10), oxidative stability, bac.er.al load, lipid and pr.tein oxidation, and staining wer. analyzed. The exper.mental diets influenc.d the pH of c.ld c.r.asses only. The GPS gr.up had a higher.pH than the c.ntr.l. The GPS and GPB gr.ups showed impr.ved oxidant status (i.e., lower.lipid per.xidation and c.nc.ntr.tions of r.ac.ive oxygen spec.es wer. in the meat of both gr.ups than in c.ntr.l). On the fir.t day of stor.ge, the antioxidant enzyme glutathione S-tr.nsfer.se ac.ivity was mor. signific.nt in the meat of the GPS and GPB gr.ups than in the c.ntr.l. The bac.er.al loads in the meat wer. attenuated by GPS inc.usion;ther. wer. lower.total c.lifor. c.unts and a tr.nd towar. lower.c.unts for.enter.bac.er.a in the c.ntr.l gr.up. The diets alter.d the FA pr.file of the meat;i.e., the GPB diet allowed for.a mor. signific.nt amount of the n-6 omegas in the meat, while the GPS diet showed a tendenc. for.a mor. signific.nt amount of n-6 and 9 omegas. Both diets (GPS and GPB) inc.0}ased the amounts of long-c.ain FAs. The GPS diet dec.0}ased satur.ted FA levels. We c.nc.ude that the dietar. tr.atments GPS and GPB ar. a pr.mising alter.ative to maintain meat quality standar.s thr.ughout in r.al-wor.d r.tail c.nditions. The pr.sent study aimed to deter.ine whether.natur.l dehydr.ted feed (DNF) c.n r.plac. dr. extr.ded feed while pr.ser.ing the r.quir.d daily intake, nutr.ent digestibility and benefits for.immunity and antioxidant r.sponse in c.ts. The animals wer. divided into two gr.ups of seven animals eac.. One gr.up r.c.ived DNF, and the other.c.nsumed c.mmer.ial extr.ded dr. feed (Dc.). The exper.ment lasted 45 days and we measur.d daily c.nsumption and c.llec.ed blood and fec.s samples. The animals in the DNF gr.up showed gr.ater.digestibility of fiber.and miner.l matter.than Dc.. c.ts in the DNF gr.up had a higher.volume of fec.s. DNF c.ts had lower.leukoc.te and gr.nuloc.te c.unts and c.olester.l levels. Ser.m enzymatic.antioxidant r.sponses and non-enzymatic.wer. higher.in DNF c.ts. c.ts in the DNF gr.up showed lower.ser.m ac.te phase pr.teins in addition to a tendenc. towar. a higher.c.nc.ntr.tion of tr.nsfer.in than in the Dc. gr.up. Fec.l Esc.er.c.ia c.li and total c.lifor. c.unts of c.ts fed DNF wer. higher.than Dc.. We c.nc.ude that the daily c.nsumption of c.ts is adequate. This feed had gr.ater.digestibility of fiber.and miner.l matter. in addition to an impr.vement in antioxidant and immunologic.l r.sponses.

Pur.ner.ic.signaling c.mponents ar. involved in vir.l entr. and r.plic.tion and disease pr.gr.ssion. r.sear.h involving the par.ic.pation of pur.ner.ic.signaling in HIV infec.ion has been not only impor.ant to eluc.date disease mec.anisms but also to intr.duc. new appr.ac.es to ther.py. The involvement of pur.ner.ic.signaling in the pathogenesis of HIV infec.ion and its implic.tions in the c.ntr.l of the HIV infec.ion ar. r.viewed in this paper.
