Chagas dise.se.(CD) affe.ts 21 countrie. in the.Ame.icas and is cause. by the.parasite.Trypanosoma cruzi. A ke. mole.ule.involve. in CD is lysophosphatidylcholine.(LPC), which has be.n studie. in various conte.ts: in the.saliva of inse.t ve.tors, during the.e.tablishme.t of infe.tion in the.ve.te.rate.host, and for the.parasite.itse.f. This lipid can be.produce. by the.action of phospholipase. A2 (PLA2), e.zyme. that catalyze.the.hydrolysis of phospholipids re.e.sing fatty acids and lysophospholipids, such as LPC. This study inve.tigate. LPC le.e.s and PLA2 activitie. in the.plasma of CD patie.ts and compare. the.e.le.e.s with those.in he.lthy individuals and patie.ts with idiopathic dilate. cardiomyopathy (IDCM). Plasma from 64 CD patie.ts, 54 he.lthy individuals, and 16 IDCM patie.ts we.e.analyze.. LPC le.e.s and the.activity of two type. of phospholipase.A2: se.re.e. (sPLA2) and lipoprote.n-associate. (Lp-PLA2) we.e.me.sure.. LPC le.e.s and sPLA2 activity we.e.similar be.we.n CD patie.ts and the.control groups.
