Notch signaling in female cancers: a multifaceted node to overcome drug resistance

Drug resistance is one of the main challenges in cancer therapy,including in the treatment of female-specific malignancies,which account for more than 60%of cancer cases among ***,elucidating the underlying molecular mechanisms is an urgent need in gynecological cancers to foster novel therapeutic ***,Notch signaling,including either receptors or ligands,has emerged as a promising candidate given its multifaceted role in almost all of the hallmarks of *** the connection between Notch pathway and drug resistance in the afore-mentioned tumor contexts,several studies focused on the Notch-dependent regulation of the cancer stem cell(CSC)subpopulation or the induction of the epithelial-to-mesenchymal transition(EMT),both features implicated in either intrinsic or acquired ***,the present review provides an up-to-date overview of the published results on Notch signaling and EMT-or CSC-driven drug ***,other drug resistance-related mechanisms are examined such as the involvement of the Notch pathway in drug efflux and tumor ***,there is a long way to go before every facet will be fully understood;nevertheless,some small pieces are falling neatly into ***,the main aim of this review is to provide strong evidence in support of Notch signaling inhibition as an effective strategy to evade or reverse resistance in female-specific cancers.

The rapid advancement of nanotechnology has sparked much interest in applying nanoscale perovskite materials for photodetection *** materials are promising candidates for next-generation photodetectors(PDs)due to their unique optoelectronic properties and flexible synthesis *** review explores the approaches used in the development and use of optoelectronic devices made of different nanoscale perovskite architectures,including quantum dots,nanosheets,nanorods,nanowires,and *** a thorough analysis of recent literature,the review also addresses common issues like the mechanisms underlying the degradation of perovskite PDs and offers perspectives on potential solutions to improve stability and scalability that impede widespread *** addition,it highlights that photodetection encompasses the detection of light fields in dimensions other than light intensity and suggests potential avenues for future research to overcome these obstacles and fully realize the potential of nanoscale perovskite materials in state-of-the-art photodetection *** review provides a comprehensive overview of nanoscale perovskite PDs and guides future research efforts towards improved performance and wider applicability,making it a valuable resource for researchers.

This article examines the complex relationship between disease perception,negative emotions,and their impact on postoperative recovery in patients with perianal *** conditions not only cause physical discomfort,but also carry a significant emotional burden,often exacerbated by social ***-logical factors,including stress,anxiety,and depression,activate neuroendocrine pathways,such as the hypothalamic–pituitary–adrenal axis,disrupting the gut microbiota and leading to *** disruption can delay wound healing,prolong hospital stay,and intensify *** on the findings of Hou et al,our article highlights the critical role of illness perception and negative emotions in shaping recovery *** advocates for a holistic approach that integrates psychological support and gut microbiota modulation,to enhance healing and improve overall patient outcomes.

Low-electrode capacitive deionization(FCDI)is an emerging desalination technology with great potential for removal and/or recycling ions from a range of ***,it still suffers from inefficient charge transfer and ion transport kinetics due to weak turbulence and low electric intensity in flow electrodes,both restricted by the current ***,a new tip-array current collector(designated as T-CC)was developed to replace the conventional planar current collectors,which intensifies both the charge transfer and ion transport *** effects of tip arrays on flow and electric fields were studied by both computational simulations and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy,which revealed the reduction of ion transport barrier,charge transport barrier and internal *** the voltage increased from 1.0 to 1.5 and 2.0 v,the T-CC-based FCDI system(T-FCDI)exhibited average salt removal rates(ASRR)of 0.18,0.50,and 0.89μmol cm^(-2) min^(-1),respectively,which are 1.82,2.65,and 2.48 folds higher than that of the conventional serpentine current collectors,and 1.48,1.67,and 1.49 folds higher than that of the planar current ***,with the solid content in flow electrodes increased from 1 to 5 wt%,the ASRR for T-FCDI increased from 0.29 to 0.50μmol cm^(-2) min^(-1),which are 1.70 and 1.67 folds higher than that of the planar current ***,a salt removal efficiency of 99.89%was achieved with T-FCDI and the charge efficiency remained above 95%after 24 h of operation,thus showing its superior long-term stability.

Calcareous nannoplankton dating of the Late Quaternary deposits in Greece and the eastern Mediterranean: Case studies from terrestrial and marine sites

The distribution and abundance of Emiliania huxleyi（E. huxleyi） assemblages in the marine sediments of the Aravonitsa Plateau, Greece, and from the eastern Mediterranean are used（1） to evaluate the calcareous nannoplankton NN21 a and NN21 b biozones and the NN21a/NN21 b boundary, and（2） to analyze the palaeoenvironmental and palaeoclimatic conditions prevailing in this interval. The sediment succession displays varied E. huxleyi assemblages and these are interpreted as reflecting climatic variability during marine isotope stages MIS 1-8.

Roles of the main olfactory and vomeronasal systems in the detection of androstenone in inbred strains of mice

We investigated the role of the main olfactory and accessory olfactory systems （MOS and AOS respectively） in the detection of androstenone. We used the following experimental approaches： behavioral, surgical removal of the vomeronasal organ （vNX） followed by histochemical verification and Fos immunohistochemistry. Using a Y-maze paradigm we estimated sensitivity of NZB/B1NJ and CBA/J mice to androstenone. CBA mice were 2,000-fold more sensitive to androstenone than NZB mice. vNX caused a 4-tol6-fold decrease in sensitivity to androstenone in highly-sensitive CBA mice, but did not affect thresholds in NZB mice. Results indicate the involvement of the MOS and AOS in the detection of androstenone. We observed a specific pattern of Fos-positive cells in the main olfactory bulb of CBA mice but not in NZB mice subsequent to exposure of mice to androstenone; the compound activated cells in the accessory olfactory bulb in both strains of mice, indicating the involvement of the vomeronasal organ. Patterns of Fos-positive cells in the vomeronasal organ were recorded subsequent to exposure to androstenone. Fos-positive receptor cells in the vomeronasal organ of CBA and NZB mice were different, in CBA mice Fos-positive cells were noted in both the basal and apical zones, however, in NZB mice activation was observed only in the apical zone [Current Zoology 56 （6）： 813-818, 2010].

Level of Independence in Georgia Throughout the 14th Century

In 1329-1334, George the Brilliant took advantage of the situation created in the llkhanate, eliminated his political opponents and restored the territorial integrity of Georgia. He created a solid legal basis for the country and regulated the ecclesiastic area. He was in West Georgia in 1329-1332/1333. The llkhanid coin was not minted in Georgia during that period; yet, soon the king of Georgia, which had already been united by that time, restored relations with llkhanids and returned to Tbilisi, which implied making the already united Georgia subject to Mongols. Ilkhanid coins and later, coins of Chobanids, the Golden Horde and Jalayirids circulated during the reign of George the Brdhant. In 1338-1339 George the Brilliant conquered Ossetia and Ilkhanid coins were disseminated on the territory of the Golden Horde after that. Formally, Georgia remained under the control of Ilkhanids, which was replaced by Chobanids in 1338 and the governors of the Golden Horde in 757/1356; and in parallel and afterwards by Jalayirids, which is evidenced by written sources as well as numismatic data; Despite formal dependence on the foreign power, which is evidenced by the deployment of 10,000 troops at the border of Georgia as well, the country enjoyed a rather wide internal autonomy. Participation of George the Brilliant in sending envoys for the purpose of the redemption of the Jvari （Cross） Monastery in Palestine in 1316/7, 1320 cannot be assumed. It seems that in those years envoys were sent by Constantine, the king of West Georgia. All the above do not diminish the merits of George v to the Georgian nation and his historic role in terms of the political unification of the country, the creation of a legal basis for it and the regulation of ecclesiastic affairs--the accomplishments of the king, who deservedly bears the name ＂the Brilliant＂.

Stable oligonucleotide-functionalized gold nanosensors for environmental biocontaminant monitoring

The global propagation of environmental biocontaminants such as antibiotic resistant pathogens and their antibiotic resistance genes（ARGs） is a public health concern that highlights the need for improved monitoring strategies. Here, we demonstrate the environmental stability and applicability of an oligonucleotide-functionalized gold nanosensor. The mec A ARG was targeted as model biocontaminant due to its presence in clinically-relevant pathogens and to its emergence as an environmental *** A-specific nanosensors were tested for antibiotic resistance gene（ARG） detection in ARG-spiked effluent from four wastewater treatment plants（WWTPs）. The mec A-specific nanosensors showed stability in environmental conditions and in high ionic strength（[MgCl_2] 〈 50 m M）, and high selectivity against mismatched targets. Spectrophotometric detection was reproducible with an LOD of 70 pM（≈ 4 × 10~7 genes/μL）, even in the presence of interferences associated with non-target genomic DNA and complex WWTP effluent. This contribution supports the environmental applicability of a new line of cost-effective, field-deployable tools needed for wide-scale biocontaminant monitoring.
