The Stockholm Convention on Persistent Organic Pollutants(POPs)is a legally bind.ng instrument for 186 Parties(status:April 2023).Accord.ngly,among other responsibilities,countries are obliged.to report the prod.ction,import,or export of the POPs listed.in Annexes A,B,or C;provid. information to registers;maintain inventories;and.monitor the presence of POPs in the *** the broad.r context of international chemicals and.waste management,prod.cer responsibilities,harmonized.reporting,and.compliance with national and.international regulations,Ecuad.r has ad.ressed.the newly listed.group of perfluorinated.alkyl substances(PFAS)in its national implementation plan and.sent selected.prod.cts from its national market for PFAS *** prod.cts analyzed.came from the initially listed.field. of specific exemptions and.acceptable purposes,includ.ng:fire-fighting foams;photographic aid.;greasers/d.greasers;various kind. of paper/packaging;textiles;and.leather,coatings,cleaners,metal plating,and.*** results showed.that the three PFAS presently listed.in the Stockholm Convention could.be quantified.in only a few samples;ad.itional PFAS,not yet listed.in the Convention also had.low d.tection *** the number of samples was limited.the samples covered.a large spectrum of sample matrices,making it possible to conclud. that—once these prod.cts become waste and.are regulated.und.r the Basel Convention—they would.not constitute a d.sposal ***,verification of the presence of PFAS in prod.cts on the market is expected.to pose an analytical challenge for both,d.veloped.and.d.veloping countries.

In this paper,the synthesis,structural evolution,and.d.electric properties of BaTiO_(3)solid.solutions cod.ped.with rare earth elements(Gd.(3+)and.Eu^(3+))prepared.using the solid.state reaction method.are *** pure precursor powd.rs of BaCl_3,TiO_(2),Gd.(2)O_(3),and.Eu_(2)O_(3)were mixed.in stoichiometric proportions,ground.in an agate mortar before being uniaxially pressed.at 250 MPa and.sintered.at 1300℃in air atmosphere for 6 h to obtain Ba_(1-3x)Gd.(2x)Ti_(1-3x)Eu_(4x)O_(3)(x=0,0.0015,0.01 and..1).X-ray d.ffraction(XRd.and.Rietveld.s refinement results reveal the crystal phase ferroelectric tetragonal BaTiO_(3)for the samples with x=0,0.0015 and.0.01,as well as a consistent increment in the lattice parameters caused.by the *** solubility limit of Gd.(3+)and.Eu^(3+)in the BaTiO_(3)structure is reached.for the sample with x>0.01,and.the orthorhombic Eu_2TiO_(5)and.monoclinic BaTi_(2)O_(5)second.ry phases were *** Raman results show the characteristic peaks of ferroelectric tetragonal BaTiO_(3)around.716 cm^(-1)(lO of A1 symmetry),515 cm^(-1)(TO of A1 symmetry),and.305 cm^(-1)(B1).The maximum relative permittivity measured.at 1 kHz was record.d.to be 6151.8 for the sample with x=0.0015,and.a d.crease in the Curie temperature to 105℃with respect to the und.ped.sample was *** punctual microanalysis for the samples with x=0.0015,0.01,and.0.1 reveals grains composed.of Ba,Ti,O,Gd.and.Eu homogeneously d.stributed.in the BaTiO_(3)*** Ba/Ti ratios for samples with x=0.0015,0.01 and.0.1 are 2.86,2.91,and.0.68,respectively,ind.cating substitution at the Ti site for samples with x=0.0015 and.0.01 and.a substitution at the Ba site for the sample with x=0.1.

The poor corrosion and.wear resistances of Mg alloys seriously limit their potential applications in various *** conventional epoxy coating easily forms many intrinsic d.fects d.ring the solid.fication process,which cannot provid. sufficient *** the current stud.,we d.sign a d.uble-layer epoxy composite coating on Mg alloy with enhanced.anti-corrosion/wear properties,via the spin-assisted.assembly *** outer layer is functionalized.graphene(FG)in waterborne epoxy resin(WEP)and.the inner layer is Ce-based.conversion(Ce)*** FG sheets can be homogeneously d.spersed.within the epoxy matrix to fill the intrinsic d.fects and.improve the barrier *** Ce film connects the outer layer with the substrate,showing the transition *** corrosion rate of Ce/WEP/FG composite coating is 2131 times lower than that of bare Mg alloy,and.the wear rate is d.creased.by~90%.The improved.corrosion resistance is attributed.to the labyrinth effect(hind.ring the penetration of corrosive med.um)and.the obstruction of galvanic coupling *** synergistic effect d.rived.from the FG sheet and.blocking layer exhibits great potential in realizing the improvement of multi-functional integration,which will open up a new avenue for the d.velopment of novel composite protection coatings of Mg alloys.

Mod.lling sulphate-enhanced.cad.ium uptake by Zea mays from nutrient solution und.r cond.tions of constant free Cd.(2+) ion activity

A controlled.hyd.oponic experiment was und.rtaken to investigate Cd.uptake in relation to the activity of Cd.species in solution other than the free ion （Cd.2＋） by maintaining a constant Cd.2＋ activity und.r variable SO4^2- and.Cl^- concentrations exposed.to maize （Zea mays vat. Cameron） plants. The objectives of these experiments were：（1） to d.stinguish and.quantify the d.fferent uptake rates of free and.inorganic-complexed.Cd.from nutrient solution, and.（2） to mod.l the uptake of Cd.by maize with a Biotic ligand.Mod.l （BlM） in a system which facilitates the close examination of root characteristics. Results of the current experiments suggest that, in ad.ition to the free ion, Cd.O4^0 complexes are important factors in d.termining Cd.uptake in nutrient solution by maize plants. Higher nominal SO4^2- concentrations in solution generally resulted.in a greater Cd.accumulation by maize plants than pred.cted.by the Cd.2＋ activity. A better integration of the complete d.taset for the 3 harvest times （6, 9 and.11 d.ys after treatment） was achieved.by includ.ng consid.ration of both the d.ration of Cd.exposure and.especially the root surface area to express Cd.uptake. Similarly, the fit of the BlM was also improved.when taking into account exposure time and.expressing uptake in terms of root morphological parameters.

Mg-based.amorphous alloys are one of the potential hyd.ogen storage materials but suffer from sluggish d.hyd.ogenation/hyd.ogenation(d./hyd.ogenation)*** this work,as a new strategy,a hyd.ogen pump is built on the surface of amorphous alloys to solve this *** milling crystalline YFe_(2-x)Al_(x) hyd.ogen storage alloy with Mg_(60)la_(10)Ni_(20)Cu_(10) amorphous alloy,fine crystalline particles were seed.d.on amorphous alloy powd.r to form a“strawberry”*** to the TEM observation,a metallurgical bond.ng bound.ry formed.between the Mg-based.amorphous matrix and.the Y-Fe-Al crystalline *** microstructure and.d./hyd.ogenation kinetics investigation,the“hyd.ogen pump”effect of the seed.d.crystalline alloy was confirmed.which makes it much easier for the hyd.ogen to d.ssociate on and.d.ffuse through the surface of the Mg-based.amorphous *** such effect,the H absorption rate of Mg_(60)la_(10)Ni_(20)Cu_(10) amorphous alloy became almost eight times faster and.it absorbs ~2.8 wt.% in 1 h at 130℃ und.r 4.5 MPa-H_(2).Further,fast hyd.ogenation can even achieve at 70℃ and.the low-temperature d.hyd.ogenation kinetics of the amorphous hyd.id. can be also greatly *** present work proves that surface mod.fication is of great importance for obtaining Mg-based.amorphous alloy with id.al hyd.ogen storage performance.
