Assessment of Cancer-Related Fatigue Expression:Comparing the Expression of Fatigue in Patients with a History of Cancer,Patients with Other Chronic Diseases,and Healthy Individuals

Aims:We aimed to compare cancer survivors’fatigue expression with that of the general population and examine psychobiological factors associated with ***:In this quantitative,transversal study,we analyzed clinical and sociodemographic indicators of 389 participants(68.38%females):148 cancer survivors on active treatment,55 disease-free survivors,75 patients with another chronic disease,and 111 healthy ***:Fatigue was expressed dissimilarly in patients with a previous history of cancer and participants without a history of *** on active treatment reported significantly higher levels of fatigue than the other clinical status ***,some level of cancer-related fatigue persisted,in a similar pattern,after active treatment into the survivorship ***-free survivors showed significantly lower vigor levels when compared to patients with other chronic *** distress and daytime sleepiness emerged as transdiagnostic factors associated with ***:Cancer-related fatigue may have a unique pattern,characterized by reduced endurance and muscle *** the present study,psychological distress and daytime sleepiness are associated with cancer-related *** findings suggest the pertinence of future studies examining whether interventions targeting those factors may help manage this burdensome complaint.

Kasabach-Merritt syndrome consists of a set of signs and symptoms associated with capillary hemangioma with thrombocytopenia, which causes bleeding accompanied by petechiae, ecchymosis, and spontaneous hematomas. This present study aims to report a rare case of cervical lymphangioma (cystic hygroma) that later evolved into Kasabach-Merritt syndrome, demonstrating the importance of systemic evaluation of veno-lymphatic malformations. Although rare, prompt diagnosis and therapy are necessary due to the high severity and potential fatality of the condition.”

Reinforcement of Hydroxypropylcellulose Films by Cellulose Nanocrystals in the Presence of surfactants

Hydroxypropylcellulose（HPC） films were prepared by casting with cellulose nanocrystals in the presence of anionic surfactant sodium dodecylsulphate（sDs） and cationic surfactant hexadecyltrimethyl ammonium bromide（CTAB）. The cellulose nanocrystals were isolated from maize straw, a biomass source produced in huge quantities as an agrowaste in Brazil. These bionanocomposite films had good transparency and their surface hydrophilic character was evidenced by static contact angle measurements. Thermogravimetry（TGA） measurement revealed that nanocrystals and surfactants changed the thermal stability of the HPC films. Dynamic mechanical analysis（DMA） showed that the tensile storage and loss moduli of the HPC films increased by increasing the contents of cellulose nanocrystals and surfactants, especially in the case of CTAB. This good reinforcing effect of HPC matrix can be explained as due to electrostatic attractive interactions brought about by the presence of CTAB and the nanocrystals.

Antioxidant and Cytotoxic Activities of Clove Oil Nanoparticles and Evaluation of Its size and Retention Efficiency

A derivation of the nanoprecipitation technique without the presence of surfactants to reduce the nanoparticle size is herein proposed. The absence of surfactant in the nanoprecipitation technique allows capturing particles with a smaller diameter than nanoparticles containing surfactants, facilitating the migration of antioxidant nanoparticles in film packaging. Biodegradable PLA nanoparticles with clove oil were produced and characterized by dynamic light scattering, zeta potential, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, retention efficiency, cytotoxicity, and antioxidant activity. The particle sizes obtained were smaller than those commonly produced by nanoprecipitation, monodispersed and stable for 6 months. The antioxidant activity showed that the encapsulated form of clove oil had greater antioxidant activity than unencapsulated clove oil. The addition of PLA nanoparticles decreased the cytotoxic action of eugenol, the main antioxidant component of clove oil.

The Use of Zinc Oxide Nanoparticles in Eva to Obtain Food Packing Films

The increasing demand for new packages with increased shelf life properties has stimulated the increase of research in the active packaging sector. The use of antimicrobial agents requires an in-depth study of their properties to avoid loss of efficiency of the polymer processing. In this context, the objective of this work was to evaluate the preparation of an 18% ethylene vinyl acetate copolymer (EVA) nanocomposite and zinc oxide (ZnO) as microbicidal nanoparticle, prepared in a monosulfon extruder. The nanoparticle was modified with octadecylamine and EVA 18 nanocomposite films were prepared and compared to the systems containing modified nanoparticle. These new materials were characterized by thermogravimetric analysis (TGA), Differential scanning Calorimetry (DsC), X-Ray Diffraction (XRD), Dynamic Mechanical Analysis (DMA), Time Domain Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR) to investigate the effect of zinc oxide nanoparticles on thermal properties, EVA crystallinity and antimicrobial effect. The TGA showed a tendency of increase of the thermal stability in different proportions of ZnO. DsC results did not show significant changes in thermal parameters. The XRD analysis showed an increase in the degree of crystallinity of the nanocomposites in relation to the EVA matrix and change in the crystallinity with the increase of ZnO percentages. DMA analysis indicates change in structural organization through the variation of storage modulus, loss, and tan delta. Time domain NMR data corroborate with XRD data through the change in molecular mobility.

Colorectal cancer(CRC)is one of the most frequent neoplasms and an important cause of mortality in the developed *** cancer is caused by both genetic and environmental factors although 35%of the variation in CRC susceptibility involves inherited genetic *** syndromes account for about5%of the total burden of CRC,with Lynch syndrome and familial adenomatous polyposis the most common *** hereditary forms,there is an important fraction of CRC cases that present familial aggregation for the disease with an unknown germline genetic *** can be also considered as a complex disease taking into account the common diseasecommom variant hypothesis with a polygenic model of inheritance where the genetic components of common complex diseases correspond mostly to variants of low/moderate *** far,30 common,low-penetrance susceptibility variants have been identified for ***,new sequencing technologies including exomeand whole-genome sequencing have permitted to add a new approach to facilitate the identification of new genes responsible for human disease *** using whole-genome sequencing,germline mutations in the POLE and POLD1 genes have been found to be responsible for a new form of CRC genetic predisposition called polymerase proofreading-associated polyposis.

Effect of a 10-Week stretching Program of the Triceps surae Muscle Architecture and Tendon Mechanical Properties

Purpose The present study aimed to test if a long-term passive stretching training causes adaptations of the medial gastroc-nemius architecture and the Achilles tendon (AT) tangent *** A total of 20 males took part in the *** stretching group (n =12),performed stretching exercises for the plantar flexors for 10 weeks,4-5 times a week,which comprised two static positions sustained twice each during 30 *** For the stretching group,maximum dorsiflexion angle,peak passive torque,and muscle-tendon unit maximum length significantly increased after *** other differences were found related to muscle architecture and AT tangent *** Joint amplitude gain after a long-term stretching of the triceps surae was not accompanied by structural or mechanical changes of the medial gastrocnemius and AT tendon,and seems to reflect an increasing stretch tolerance level.
