The opening and spreading of the Atlantic Ocean between Africa and South America evolved during the Early Cretaceous and were preceded by dramatic tholeiitic(mafic)magmatism and minor silicic and alkaline *** features are presently recognized from the equatorial regions of brazil and Africa to the Falklands and South *** southeastern South America,continental flood basalts and related plumbing systems constitute the Paranámagmatic Province(PmP),whose African counterpart is the Etendeka magmatic Province(EmP).In northeastern brazil,dike swarms and sill complexes compose the Equatorial Atlantic magmatic Province(EQUAmP).As a common feature,these provinces are chemically represented by two prevalent magma types:(1)tholeiitic basalts and basaltic andesites with lowTi(TiO_(2)mpatible element *** type is predominantly found in the southern PmP and EmP,with minor occurrences in the EQUAmP.(2)Tholeiitic basalts and basaltic andesites with high Ti(TiO_(2)>~2 wt.%)and incompatible element *** Ti tholeiites are relevant in the northern PmP and EmP,and dominant in *** rocks(SiO_(2)=57-65 wt.%)interpreted as byproducts of assimilation and/or fractional crystallization(AFC)processes from high Ti tholeiitic magmas,are scarce(but present)in all three *** accurate analysis of multivariable databases collected from the literature for dikes and sills,including major and trace element and radiogenic isotope data,reveals close similarities in their geochemical *** a paleogeographic reconstruction of West Gondwana,the intrusive remnants of the PmP,EmP and EQUAmP are spread over an area of nearly 10×10^(6)km^(2).forming perhaps the most extensive set of plumbing systems on Earth,with a relatively consistent chronology based on a vast collection of K-Ar and^(40)Ar/^(39)Ar data available in the *** work provides the first c

The CaO-P_(2)O_(5)-SiO_(2)-mgO system presents several compounds used as biomaterials such as hydroxyapatite(HA),tricalcium phosphate(TCP)and TCP with magnesium substituting partial calcium(TCmP).Theβ-TCmP phase with whitlockite structure has interesting biological features and mechanical properties,meeting the requirements of a bioactive material for bone *** this work,the production of mg-doped TCP,β-TCmP,has been investigated by crystallization from a glass composed of 52.75 wt%3CaO·P_(2)O_(5),30 wt%SiO_(2)and 17.25 wt%mgO(i.e.,31.7 mol%CaO,10.6 mol%P_(2)O_(5),26.6 mol%mgO and 31.1 mol%SiO_(2))using heat treatments between 775℃and 1100℃for up to 8 *** devitrification process of the glass has been accompanied by differential scanning calorimetry(DSC),high-resolution X-ray diffraction(HRXRD),relative density and bending strength *** characterization by HRXRD and DSC revealed the occurrence of whitlockite soon after the bulk glass preparation,a transient non-cataloged silicate between 800℃and 1100℃,and the formation of diopside in samples treated at 1100℃as crystalline *** overall crystalline fraction varied from 26%to 70%depending on the heat ***,contraction of the a-axis lattice parameter and expansion of the c-axis lattice parameter of the whitlockite structure have been observed during the heat treatments,which were attributed to theβ-TCmP formation with the partial substitution of Ca^(2+)by mg^(2+).Relative densities near 99%and 97%for the glass and glass-ceramics respectively indicated a discrete reduction as a function of the devitrification *** strengths of 70 mPa and 120 mPa were determined for the glass and glass-ceramic material crystallized at 975℃for 4 h,respectively.

Analysis of in vivo absorption of didanosine tablets in male adult dogs by HPLC

Didanosine is an effective antiviral drug in untreated and antiretroviral therapy-experienced patients with Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV). An automated system using on-line solid extraction and High Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC) with ultraviolet (UV) detection was developed and validated for pharmacokinetic analysis of didanosine in dog plasma. modifications were introduced on a previous methodology for simultaneous analysis of antiretroviral drugs in human plasma. Extraction was carried out on C18 cartridges, with high extraction yield as stationary phase, whereas mobile phase consisted of a mixture of 0.02 m potassium phosphate buffer, acetonitrile (KH2PO4: acetonitrile: 96:4, v/v) and 0.5% (w/v) of heptane sulphonic acid. The pH was adjusted to 6.5 with triethylamine. All samples and standard solutions were chromatographed at 28 1C. For an isocratic run, the fiux was 1.0 mL/min, detection was at 250 nm and injected volume was 20 mL. The method was selective and linear for concentrations between 50 and 5000 ng/mL. Drug stability data ranged from 96% to 98%, and limit of quantification was 25 ng/mL. Extraction yield was up to 95%. Drug stability in dog plasma was kept frozen at 20 1C for one month after three freeze–thaw cycles, and for 24 h after processing in the auto sampler. Assay was successfully applied to measure didanosine concentrations in plasma dogs.

CYP1A1,CYP2E1 and EPHX1 polymorphisms in sporadic colorectal neoplasms

AIm To investigate the contribution of polymorphisms in the CYP1A1, CYP2E1 and EPHX1 genes on sporadic colorectal cancer(SCRC) risk. mETHODS Six hundred forty-one individuals(227 patients with SCRC and 400 controls) were enrolled in the study. The variables analyzed were age, gender, tobacco and alcohol consumption, and clinical and histopathological tumor parameters. The CYP1A1 *2A, CYP1A1 *2C CYP2E1 *5b and CYP2E1 *6 polymorphisms were analyzed by polymerase chain reaction-restriction fragment length polymorphism(PCR-RFLP). The EPHX1 Tyr113 His, EPHX1 His139 Arg and CYP1A1 *2C polymorphisms were detected by real-time PCR. Chisquared test and binary logistic regression were used in the statistical analysis.
