BACKGROUND Non-invasive differential diagnosis between hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC)and other liver cancer(*** or metastasis)is highly challenging and definitive diagnosis still relies on histological *** patterns of enhancement and wash-out of liver nodules can be used to stratify the risk of malignancy only in cirrhotic patients and HCC frequently shows atypical *** contrast-enhanced ultrasound(DCEUS)with standardized software could help to overcome these obstacles,providing functional and quantitative parameters and potentially improving accuracy in the evaluation of tumor *** To explore clinical evidence regarding the application of DCEUS in the differential diagnosis of liver *** A comprehensive literature search of clinical studies was performed to identify the parameters of DCEUS that could relate to histological *** accordance with the study protocol,a qualitative and quantitative analysis of the evidence was *** Rise time was significantly higher in HCC patients with a standardized mean difference(SMD)of 0.83(95%CI:0.48-1.18).Similarly,other statistically significant parameters were mean transit time local with a SMD of 0.73(95%CI:0.20-1.27),peak enhancement with a SMD of 0.37(95%CI:0.03-0.70),area wash-in area under the curve with a SMD of 0.47(95%CI:0.13-0.81),wash-out area under the curve with a SMD of 0.55(95%CI:0.21-0.89)and wash-in and wash-out area under the curve with SMD of 0.51(95%CI:0.17-0.85).SMD resulted not significant in fall time and wash-in rate,but the latter presented a trend towards greater values in HCC compared to intrahepatic *** DCEUS could improve non-invasive diagnosis of HCC,leading to less liver biopsy and early *** quantitative analysis needs to be applied on larger cohorts to confirm these preliminary results.

Impact of multifocal gas-permeable lens designs on short-term choroidal response, axial length, and retinal defocus profile

A C-shaped hinge for displacement magnification in MemS rotational structures

The design,analysis,fabrication,and characterization of two distinct MemS rotational structures are provided;these structures include a classical symmetrical lancet structure and a novel symmetrical C-shaped structure provided with a tilted arm,and both are actuated by thermal *** proposed C-shaped structure implemented a curved beam mechanism to enhance the movement delivered by the thermal *** geometrical parameters of our proposed device were optimized using the design of experiment(DOE)***,the analytical modeling based on Castigliano’s second theorem and the simulations based on the finite element method(Fem)were used to predict the behavior of the symmetrical C-shaped structure;the results were in good agreement with each *** MemS-based rotational structures were fabricated on silicon-on-insulator(SOI)wafers using bulk micromachining technology and deep reactive ion etching(DRIE)*** fabricated devices underwent experimental characterization;our results showed that our proposed MemS rotational structure exhibited a 28%improvement in the delivered displacement compared to the symmetrical lancet ***,the experimental results showed good agreement with those obtained from numerical *** proposed structures have potential applications in a variety of MemS devices,including accelerometers,gyroscopes,and resonators,due to their ability to maximize displacement and thus enhance sensitivity.

Disentangling the effects of management and climate change on habitat suitability for saproxylic species in boreal forests

Forest degradation induced by intensive forest management and temperature increase by climate change are resulting in biodiversity decline in boreal *** forest management and high-end climate emission scenarios can further reduce the amount and diversity of deadwood,the limiting factor for habitats for saproxylic species in European boreal *** magnitude of their combined effects and how changes in forest management can affect deadwood diversity under a range of climate change scenarios are poorly *** used forest growth simulations to evaluate how forest management and climate change will individually and jointly affect habitats of red-listed saproxylic species in *** simulated seven forest management regimes and three climate scenarios(reference,RCP4.5 and RCP8.5)over 100 *** regimes included set aside,continuous cover forestry,business-as-usual(BAU)and four modifications of *** suitability was assessed using a speciesspecific habitat suitability index,including 21 fungal and invertebrate species groups.“Winner”and“loser”species were identified based on the modelled impacts of forest management and climate change on their habitat *** found that forest management had a major impact on habitat suitability of saproxylic species compared to climate *** suitability index varied by over 250%among management regimes,while overall change in habitat suitability index caused by climate change was on average only 2%.More species groups were identified as winners than losers from impacts of climate change(52%–95%were winners,depending on the climate change scenario and management regime).The largest increase in habitat suitability index was achieved under set aside(254%)and the climate scenario RCP8.5(>2%),while continuous cover forestry was the most suitable regime to increase habitat suitability of saproxylic species(up to+11%)across all climate change *** results show that close-to-na
