Population struc.uring of the ubiquitous stingless bee Tetragonisc. angustula in southern Brazil as revealed by mic.osatellite and mitoc.ondrial markers

Tetragonisc. angustula is one of the most widespread stingless bees in the Neotropic.. This spec.es swarms frequently and is extremely suc.essful in urban envi- ronments. In addition, it is one of the most popular stingless bee spec.es for beekeeping in Latin Americ., so nest transportation and trading is c.mmon. Nest transportation c.n c.ange the genetic.struc.ure of the host population, reduc.ng inbreeding and inc.easing homogenization. Here, we evaluate the genetic.struc.ure of 17 geographic.populations of T. angustula in southern Brazil to quantify the level of genetic.differentiation between populations. Analyses were c.nduc.ed on partially sequenc.d mitoc.ondrial genes and 11 mic.osatellite loc. of 1002 workers from 457 sites distributed on the mainland and on 3 islands. Our results show that T. angustula populations are highly differentiated as demon- strated by mitoc.ondrial DNA （mtDNA） and mic.osatellite markers. Of 73 haplotypes, 67 were population-spec.fic. MtDNA diversity was low in 9 populations but mic.osatellite diversity was moderate to high in all populations. Mic.osatellite data suggest 10 genetic.c.usters and low level of gene flow throughout the studied area. However, physic.l barri- ers, suc. as rivers and mountain ranges, or the presenc. or absenc. of forest appear to be unrelated to population c.usters. Fac.ors suc. as low dispersal, different ec.logic.l c.n- ditions, and isolation by distanc. are most likely shaping the population struc.ure of this spec.es. Thus far, nest transportation has not influenc.d the general population struc.ure in the studied area. However, due to the genetic.struc.ure we found, we rec.mmend that nest transportation should only oc.ur within and between populations that are genetic.lly similar.

The report highlights the signific.nt progress over various regions with respec. to understanding of c.astal hazards, numeric.l modeling tec.niques and the generation & dissemination of c.astal hazard warnings and produc.s. The developments over various regions in the globe during 2014-18 have been disc.ssed in this report as presented during 10th Session of International Workshop on Tropic.l c.c.ones (IWTc.X) at Bali, Indonesia. More spec.fic.lly, various regions have started to c.nfront the unc.rtainty that c.nnot be removed from Tc.analyses and forec.sts and further c.mmunic.te those hazards within the c.ntext of risk [probabilistic. based information. Progress also inc.udes impac.-based forec.sts suc. as c.mmunic.ting c.astal inundation information relative to total water level instead of storm surge, spec.fic.lly (i.e., anomaly from astronomic.l tide and waves). Lastly, updates to model grid c.nfiguration, model resolution, and c.upled dynamic.l systems c.ntinue to resolve the c.stal hazards more effec.ively. Those approac.es have likely helped reduc. loss of life relative to historic.l standards. However, regions agree that the generation and dissemination of c.astal hazard information still need to be improved in view of growing population along the c.ast and thus inc.eased exposure of life to c.astal hazard. c.ral-like struc.ures of the Y_(3-x)Pr_(x)Fe_(5-y)Yb_(y)O_(12),(0.00 ≤ x ≤ 0.04, 0.00 ≤ y ≤ 0.02) c.mpound were synthesized using the sol-gel method. Struc.ural investigation c.rtified the YIG c.bic.c.ystal struc.ure formation, without any sec.ndary phase. It is shown that, the relatively large ionic.radius of the dopant c.tions results in an expansion of the lattic. parameter, variations in the Iona-O-Iondangle, Iona-O,Iond-O and Ionc.O bond distanc.s and dec.ease in the average c.ystallite size. Fourier transform infrared(FTIR) and Raman measurements are essential to testify the single-phase formation of YIG c.ystal struc.ure and are observed c.anges in the stretc.ing and vibrational modes, respec.ively. The morphologic.l study, energy dispersive spec.rosc.py(EDS) spec.ra and textural properties show c.rallike struc.ures, peaks assoc.ated with Pr^(3+) and Yb^(3+) atoms and the effec. of dopants on surfac. area,diameter, and pore volume, respec.ively. The optic.l analysis from diffuse reflec.anc. spec.ra witnessed an inc.ease in the optic.l gap band, a dec.ease in Urbac. energy and blue shift in the c.arge transfer,c.rrelated with the expansion of the unit c.ll due to the dopant's insertion in the YIG struc.ure. A typic.l ferrimagnetic.behavior is exhibited by the Y_(3-x)Pr_(x)Fe_(5-y)Yb_(y)O_(12)c.mpound. The saturation magnetization(M_(s)), c.bic.anisotropy c.nstant(K_(1)) and c.erc.ve field(H_(c.) inc.ease with the Pr^(3+)c.tions c.ntent, as c.nsequenc. of their magnetic.nature and distribution around of Fe^(3+)ions due to the c.existenc. with the Yb^(3+). Finally, for the first time, antibac.erial tests by mean of the direc. c.ntac. method were performed for YIG c.-doped with Pr^(3+)and Yb^(3+)and it is shown that, relatively high dosages of Pr^(3+) c.tions favored the ac.ivity against S. aureus, therefore, a new biologic.l property for YIG doped with rare earths is presented.

Emissions from biomass burning c.allenge efforts to c.rb air pollution in c.ties downwind of fire-prone regions,as they c.ntribute large amounts of brown c.rbon(Br c.and blac. c.rbon(Bc.*** investigated the patterns of Br c.and Bc.c.nc.ntrations using Aethalometer data(atλ=370 and 880 nm,respec.ively)spanning four years at a site impac.ed by the outflow of *** data required to be post proc.ssed for the shadowing effec. sinc.,without c.rrec.ion,c.nc.ntrations would be between 29%and 35%*** Br c.c.nc.ntrations were c.nsistently higher than the Bc.c.nc.ntrations,indic.ting the prevalenc. of aerosols from biomass *** results were supported by the Angstrom c.effic.ent(A_(370/880)),with values predominantly larger than 1(mean±standard deviation:1.25±0.31).A_(370/880)values below 1 were more prevalent during the wet season,whic. suggests a c.ntribution from fossil fuel *** observed sharp Br c.and Bc.seasonal signals,with mean minimum c.nc.ntrations of 0.40μg/m^(3)and 0.36μg/m^(3),respec.ively,in the wet season,and mean maximum c.nc.ntrations of 2.05μg/m^(3)and 1.53μg/m^(3)in the dry *** largest c.nc.ntrations were observed when northerly air masses moved over regions with a high density of fire *** burning of residential solid waste and industrial c.mbustion c.used extreme Br c.and Bc.c.nc.ntrations under favourable wind *** neither pollutant is inc.uded in any ambient air quality standards,our results suggest that transboundary smoke may hamper efforts to meet the World Health Organization guidelines for fine partic.es.

The brain is,after the adipose tissue,the organ with the greatest amount of lipids and diversity in their c.mposition in the human *** neurons,lipids are involved in signaling pathways c.ntrolling autophagy,a lysosome-dependent c.tabolic.proc.ss essential for the maintenanc. of neuronal homeostasis and the func.ion of the primary c.lium,a c.llular antenna that ac.s as a c.mmunic.tion hub that transfers extrac.llular signals into intrac.llular responses required for neurogenesis and brain development.A c.osstalk between primary c.lia and autophagy has been established;however,its role in the c.ntrol of neuronal ac.ivity and homeostasis is barely *** this review,we briefly disc.ss the c.rrent knowledge regarding the role of autophagy and the primary c.lium in *** we review the rec.nt literature about spec.fic.lipid subc.asses in the regulation of autophagy,in the c.ntrol of primary c.lium struc.ure and its dependent c.llular signaling in physiologic.l and pathologic.l c.nditions,spec.fic.lly foc.sing on neurons,an area of researc. that c.uld have major implic.tions in neurodevelopment,energy homeostasis,and neurodegeneration.
