A primary soil-forming process can take place on the concentration waste of apatite-nepheline ores, whose biological recultiv.tion was carried out more than 40 years ago. This process is characterized by the following features: forming of a thin litter with the content of organic carbon at the lev.l of 8-12%, accumulation of humic substances in the sub-litter layer and the change of рН v.lues. Microorganisms are biocatalysts of primary soil formation processes and one of the main factors that determine the specificity of this process. The prokaryotic complex of the newly formed soils, generated from nepheline sands, is considerably different from that of zonal soils on moraine sediments. The former ones are dominated by gram-positiv. bacteria, mainly actinobacteria, as well as by their filamentous forms (actinomycetes), whereas the latter ones are dominated by gram-negativ. bacteria. A common feature of inv.rtebrate’s complexes in nepheline sands is the low species div.rsity, small-size and quickly dev.lopment of microfauna and mesofauna representativ.s and the dependence of succession of microarthropods pioneer groups on the succession of bacteria and fungi.

Ion-conducting Membranes Based on Bacterial Cellulose Nanofibers Modified by Poly(sodium acrylate-co-2-acrylamido-2-methylpropanesulfonic acid)

Green method for preparation of ion-conducting membranes(ICM) based on bacterial cellulose nanofibers(CNF) modified by a copolymer of sodium acrylate and 2-acrylamido-2-methylpropanesulfonic acid was elaborated. FTIR and NMR data confirmed grafting of polyacrylate onto cellulose surface. Formation of porous structure of the ICM was controlled by SEM and AFM. The maximal ionic conductiv.ty of the membranes reaches 1.5 and 3.1 mS·cm^(-1)(60 ℃ and 98% relativ. humidity) when they are saturated with water or H_2SO_4(1 mol·L^(-1)) electrolyte,respectiv.ly. Prepared ICM was tested as a separator in a symmetrical supercapacitor with electrodes based on polyaniline hydrogel. The assembled cell demonstrate ability to operate at high current density up to 100 A·g^(-1) maintaining specific capacitance 165 F·g^(-1). Maximal specific capacitance of 289 F·g^(-1) was achiev.d at current density 1 A·g^(-1). Retaining of 90% of initial capacitance after 10000 of charge-discharge cycles prov.s high electrochemical stability of prepared ICM.

●AIM:To ev.luate the efficacy of pneumatic retinopexy(PR)in patients undergoing PR as primary treatment for rhegmatogenous retinal detachment(RRD)and analyze the factors associated with success and failure in the studied population.●METHODS:A retrospectiv. chart rev.ew was done of patients with RRD treated with PR as primary management method treated at New York Eye and Ear Infirmary of Mount Sinai between January 2017 and December *** outcome measured success or failure of *** outcome measured best corrected v.sual acuity(BCv.)after PR.A separate risk analysis was done to identify and stratify risks associated with success and failure of PR.●RESULTS:A total of 179 eyes from 179 patients were included for final *** 83 patients(46.37%)achiev.d anatomical reattachment of the retina after primary PR with no need for additional *** 96 patients(53.63%)had a failed primary PR and required a PPv.and 6 of them required pars plana v.trectomy(PPv.with scleral buckle(SB).In total,19 cases(10.61%)were done as temporizing pneumatics,18(94.74%)underwent PPv.and 1(5.26%)did not require further *** v.sual acuities at postoperativ. month 1(POM1)for patients who underwent primary PR successfully and for those that underwent PPv.after,were 0.58(20/80)and 1.03(20/200)*** who met Pneumatic Retinopexy v.rsus v.trectomy for the Management of Primary Rhegmatogenous Retinal Detachment Outcomes Randomized Trial(PIv.T)criteria had a statistically significant decreased risk of primary PR failing(hazard ratio 0.29,P=0.00).Majority of missed or new breaks were found superotemporally.●CONCLUSION:PR is a good treatment option for treating RRDs in patients that meet PIv.T criteria and can be conducted as a temporizing *** criteria and fov.a on status decrease the risk of PR failure.

This study was conducted to prov.de a preliminary assessment of the sea cucumber fishery in Aurora, Philippines. This was conducted from February to June 2013. All sea cucumber gatherers and traders, obtained through snowball sampling, in each identified sea cucumber fishery area in six coastal municipalities (Baler, Dipaculao, Dinalungan, Casiguran, Dilasag and Dingalan) were interv.ewed using a structured interv.ew schedule and focused group discussions (FGD). Results rev.aled that gathering sea cucumbers were accomplished by handpicking, skin div.ng or compressor div.ng. A total of 15 commercial species were regularly gathered. Out of this, three species are of v.ry high economic v.lue (≥Php 4000/kg) (Holothuria nobilis, Holothuria scabra, and Actinopyga lecanora). The av.rage number of kilograms harv.sted per hour per trip ranges from 0.21 (Holothuria fuscopunctata) to 2.71 (Holothuria scabra), while the av.rage size of commonly gathered sea cucumber v.ries among species with Holothuria lecanora showed an av.rage length (29.26 cm) greater than recorded 24 cm. Processing mainly inv.lv.s washing, slicing, boiling, drying and packing. Processed sea cucumbers or trepan were sold to middlemen or direct buyers who usually offered higher prices (36.36% up to 69.20%) than the former. Problems encountered by sea cucumber gatherers and traders include a decline in total catch, a shift in area of collection from intertidal zones to deeper waters, an increase in the number of hours spent in finding and gathering sea cucumbers, the use of compressors in gathering, the decline of larger species and gathering of smaller sizes in huge amount, the absence of conserv.tion program for sea cucumber, and the lenient implementation of gov.rnment policies with regards to coastal resources management.

ZnO–TiO_(2) thin films containing 0.5 mol%,1.0 mol%,and 5.0 mol%ZnO were synthesized by oxidativ. solidphase *** materials contained anatase and rutile phases with particle size of 6–13 nm,as confirmed using X-ray phase analysis and scanning electron *** a certain number of ZnO crystallites appeared in the TiO_(2) film structure in the temperature range of room temperature to 220℃,a two-lev.l response of the film resistance was observ.d,differing by approximately 10%,as obtained by electrophysical *** two-lev.l response correlates with the formation of two donor energy lev.ls of 0.28 and 0.33 ev.in the band structure of the ZnO–TiO_(2) *** donor lev.l with a higher activ.tion energy corresponded to the Ti v.cancy(v.Ti),and that with a lower activ.tion energy corresponded to the Zn v.cancy(v.Zn).Two lev.ls of gas-sensitiv. properties were noted for 0.5ZnO–TiO_(2),1ZnO–TiO_(2),and 5ZnO–TiO_(2) under the influence of 50 ppm NO_(2) at 250℃.Such two-lev.l responses can be ascribed to the pinning of the Fermi lev.l on ZnO and TiO_(2) *** mechanism of the beak-shaped and two-lev.l responses of sensors based on composite nanomaterials when exposed to v.rious gases was elucidated.
